Fluttering Butterfly Magnolia

Sweet magnolias and fluttering butterflies invoke long hazy days of summer and today I have a sweet gatefold card featuring these flowers and butterflies to share with you. The new Classic Companion dies from Heartfelt Creations are stunning and a must have in your craft room. They will take your creativity to a whole new level!

Instructions:

Cut a piece of Deluxe Flower Shaping Paper 10” x 7”, score at 2 1/2” and 7 1/2″ along the long side to create the gatefold base card.

Front of card. Cut two pieces of silver cardstock 7” x 2 1/2″ and adhere to both sides of the front. Cut two pieces of pattern paper 2 7/16” x 6 15/16” and adhere to the sides over the silver cardstock. Cut  two pieces of lighter pattern paper 2 3/8” x 6 3/4″.  Die cut the butterfly from the HCD2-7401 Classic Butterfly Companion Die set in white cardstock. Trim the centre and adhere to the two strips of paper and adhere to both side panels. Die cut the butterfly only out iridescent cardstock and adhere to the top of the butterfly as shown. Add pink iridescent gems to the centres of the flowers on the die cuts.

Stamp the leaf images from the HCPC-3948 Sweet Magnolia Blooms Cling Stamp Set in Library Green ink on Deluxe Flower Shaping Paper. Colour the leaves with Vivid Chartreuse and Library Green inks and die cut with the coordinating dies. Colour the back of the leaves with Vivid Chartreuse ink and shape using the coordinating mold.    Add Crystal Clear glitter using clear gloss gel medium. Adhere to the bottom left and bottom and top right of the front.

Stamp the magnolia images from the HCPC-3948 Sweet Magnolia Blooms Cling Stamp Set in Cactus Flower ink on Deluxe Flower Shaping Paper. Colour with Pink Peony ink and die cut with the coordinating dies. Colour the backs of the flowers with Magenta Hue ink and then shape using the coordinating mold. Assemble using two of each size flowers. Add a single yellow bead stamen and magenta small pearl stamens to the flowers with hot glue.  For the buds, stamp the small flowers on Deluxe Flower Shaping Paper in Library Green ink. Colour the flowers with Vivid Chartreuse ink and the centres with Library Green ink and die cut with the coordinating die. Colour the backs of the flowers with Vivid Chartreuse ink and then shape using the coordinating mold. Shape two pink flowers into buds using a hot glue gun and then adhere the green petal to the base of the bud as shown. Add Crystal Clear glitter with clear gloss gel medium. Adhere the flowers over the leaves as shown.

Inside card. Side panels – die cut two pieces of silver cardstock 2 3/8” x 7” and adhere to the sides.  Cut two pieces of green pattern paper 2 1/4” x 6 7/8” and adhere to the silver cardstock.

Inside back – cut a small slit on either side of the back panel in the centre of the side creases. Cut a long piece of ribbon and insert through the slits. Cut a piece of silver cardstock 4 7/8” x 7” and adhere to the back over the ribbon to secure it. Die cut a piece of pattern paper 4 3/4” x 6 7/8” and adhere to the front of the silver cardstock.  Die cut the eyelet oval using the eyelet edge oval die from the HCD1-7156 Eyelet Ovals & Basic– Small Die put of silver cardstock. Die cut an oval out of pink cardstock using the No. 2 die from the HCD1-7156 Eyelet Ovals & Basic– Small Die and adhere to the eyelet oval. Stamp the birthday sentiment from the HCPC-3843 Special Birthday Sentiments Cling Stamp in Obsidian ink using a stamp positioner. Adhere to the centre of the card. To finish, add small pink iridescent gems under the sentiment.
