Petite Picot For You

Amazing Paper Grace has gone back to her roots with classic sewing inspired motifs! Introducing the Picot Petite Collection!

Becca Feeken sent over these lovely dies for me to try.

Over time we’ve had lace-inspired designs and have loved the feel of Hemstitching and Candlewicking. Reminiscent of needlework and treasured handwork proudly displayed, Becca Feeken has developed another classic line of layering shapes that feel so much like tatting or picot crochet.  As you might imagine, these shapes are crisp, clean, and timeless. Whether you are simply adding a classic layer to a card or cutting an aperture to highlight a lovely sentiment – these shapes mix and match with other sewing inspired motifs as well as intricate backdrops.

Classic Shapes are Timeless

With each Classic Collection, Amazing Paper Grace creates the most popular die-cutting shapes in oval, round, square, and rectangles. Moreover, these classic shapes mix and match with Hemstitch Classics, Candlewick Classics, Elegant Twist Classics, and now Picot Petit. The Inspiration behind Picot Petite

If you’ve ever seen tatting, the little loop produced along the edge is called a “picot”.  It’s this little loop that is the basis for the border on all of the Petite Picot shapes.  They are lovely as a backdrop for any other layerings as the little picot peeks out.  It’s just a subtle way to bring in the ways of classic needlework to give texture and dimension to the backdrop of our cards.

I love layering beautiful Amazing Paper Grace dies using white cardstock and here I have used three different die sets to create a stunning base for gorgeous handcrafted flowers.

For this card I have layered the Amazing Paper Grace Picot Petite Ovals Etched Dies Picot Petite Collection from Amazing Paper Grace by Becca Feeken over some very pretty Amazing Paper Grace Isadora Trinkets (retired) for a very elegant look. I have added a silver accent to highlight the picot edged dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Elegant Twist Ovals Etched Dies from the Elegant Twist Collection by Becca Feeken. To finish the base I have added the second flourish accent from the Isadora Trinkets die set to the bottom of the middle oval to place the flowers on.

I have made the flowers using the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go Flowers III Etched Dies Elegant 3D Vignettes by Becca Feeken and the leaves are from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go IV Etched Dies Shadowbox by Becca Feeken sets. I have added silver leaves from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go Flowers III Etched Dies Elegant 3D Vignettes by Becca Feeken to tie the flowers to the colours of the card.

The sentiment is from a retired SOM Framed set from Close to My Heart which I have heat embossed in silver to complement the colours of the card.

These are the dies that I have used to create this card:

A Delicate impressions Congratulations

Kia Ora Koutou

Welcome back.

Delicate Impressions Details

We’re excited to introduce another Glimmer Hot Foil collection! The Delicate Impressions Collection has five sets of Glimmer Hot Foil Plates. The fifth set, Heart Melt Sentiments, has four unique phrases with matching dies. The other four sets are designed to create borders and accents that can be used on cards from A2 to 5 x 7-inches. Each elegant motif can be layered with itself or mix with others in the same collection or beyond.

Glimmer Hot Foil Plates are metal plates used in the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System to transfer foil to paper through a combination of heat and pressure.  Roll the Glimmer machine base through your die cut machine to deliver its beautiful design. Refer to Compatibility Charts on Spellbinders’ website, to see if your machine is a match.

Today I would like to share with you another card created using the beautiful Delicate Impressions collection by Becca Feeken. I have started my card created a background using the Amazing Paper Grace Diamonetta Background Glimmer Hot Foil Plate from Delicate Impressions Collection by Becca Feeken.

I foiled the flowers from the Amazing Paper Grace Sweet Blooms Border Glimmer Hot Foil Plate from Delicate Impressions Collection by Becca Feeken onto Iris cardstock and then coloured them with Zig Clean Colour Brush Makers. This was so much easier than heat embossing! I trimmed the flowers and then arranged them on the panel as shown.

To complete the card I have added strips of gold cardstock on either side of the panel and added it to the card front over the gorgeous decorative die from the Amazing Paper Grace All Occasion Sentiments Stamp and Die Set Flourished Fretwork by Becca Feeken. The sentiment is from the very elegant Amazing Paper Grace Elegant Occasion Sentiments Glorious Glimmer Hot Foil Classic Plates by Becca Feeken. And to finish I have added a gold satin ribbon.

For an easy embossed background score the cardstock using a scoring board at 1/8″ spacing. This adds so much interest and dimension to the card base and allowing the embellishments to shine.

Other Products Used:

Neenah Solar White cardstock

Heartfelt Creations Lux Gold cardstock

Zig Clean Colour Brush Markers

Gold satin ribbon

I hope that I have inspired you to start creating with the stunning Delicate Impressions Glimmer Hot Foil plates.

Amazing Paper Grace January Die of the Month Blog Hop – Mini 3D Vignette Valentines Mailbox

Remember the days in grade school when you dreamed of all the little envelopes you would collect in your pouch from Valentine’s Day?  Well, we gotcha covered! Today I am introducing the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month for January 2021, the Mini 3D Vignette Valentines Mailbox.

Becca Feeken of Amazing Paper Grace sent me these wonderful dies to create with.

Sweet hearts and petite envelopes are a symbol of love.  The Amazing Paper Grace Mini 3D Vignette Valentines Mailbox harkens back to the days where you thought that the number of envelopes measured how loved you were.  No worries, this elegant mailbox holds a bouquet of enveloped surprises and is a clever way to hide some cute little messages.  Oh, and the front of the mailbox opens!  Becca uses the inspiration from a vintage mailbox as the basis for this elegant representation where romantic and cute go hand in hand.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a sweetheart this year.  After the holiday, this set can be used as a blue mailbox.  Did you notice it is a mini-sized 3D Vignette?! Built just like the grand sized vignettes that came before it, this little mini stands 4.75-inches tall and folds flat for mailing to your sweetheart!

There are 17 dies included in the Mini 3D Vignette Valentines Mailbox

My Project Today using Mini 3D Vignette Valentines Mailbox

I have made three projects today – a card, a 3D vignette and a mailbox box that holds some delicious heart shaped chocolates.

I thought the Amazing Paper Grace January 2021 Die of the Month – Mini 3D Vignette Valentines Mailbox die would create a cute little box that would be perfect for putting in a special treat for your valentine. The front opens up for a secret message and I have a blank back for your special message. I have wrapped some heart shaped chocolates and added some handcrafted roses using the Amazing Paper Grace Candlewick Rosebud Etched Dies Candlewick Sampler Collection by Becca Feeken, I love the sweet little bow from the Amazing Paper Grace Holly Frame Gala Etched Dies Christmas Cascade Collection by Becca Feeken and they added a cute little touch to the box.

For my card I have used the Amazing Paper Grace January 2021 Die of the Month – Mini 3D Vignette Valentines Mailbox die as a decorative background highlighting the pretty pattern paper and complemented by handcrafted roses using the Amazing Paper Grace Candlewick Rosebud Etched Dies Candlewick Sampler Collection by Becca Feeken, I have also added the decorative die from the Amazing Paper Grace All Occasion Sentiments Stamp and Die Set Flourished Fretwork by Becca Feeken for more interest behind the mailbox. The other flowers and leaves I have used are from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go IV Etched Dies Shadowbox by Becca Feeken and the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go Flowers III Etched Dies Elegant 3D Vignettes by Becca Feeken. The tag is from a retired Spellbinders die set – A2 Valiant Honour.

The 3D vignette evokes an image of a celebration in a very romantic setting following a receipt of a valentine. Who wouldn’t love to receive a valentine beneath the Eiffel Tower! The hearts and mail images further enhance the feeling of love and celebration in the air!

Designer Tip:

I found it really important to watch Becca’s videos and read the instructions on how to create 3D vignette cards and taking my time making the 3D vignette.

Gorgeous Inside and Out Sweet Cardlets Card

What’s a Cardlet, pray tell?  A Cardlet is a small motif, complete with background, sentiment and character that combine to make small card or layers onto a larger card.  We’re delighted to introduce you to the Sweet Cardlets Collection.

Becca Feeken sent over these lovely dies for me to try.

Sweet Cardlets show up in a Glimmer format with a matching die.   They are metal plates that are used in the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System to transfer foil to paper through a combination of heat and pressure.  The Glimmer machine base is rolled through your die cut machine to deliver that pressure.  As long as you have a machine that can accommodate thick dies – like steel rule dies, you’re all set. A word to the wise, it is very addicting.  (Compatibility charts on the Spellbinders website)

The Inspiration behind Sweet Cardlets

We gotta fess up here.  There’s no such word as cardlets, yep, Becca straight up made it up.  You have to agree though, it sounds really cute, right?  Well that was the inspiration behind sweet cardlets.  As you can imagine it has something to do with cards and moreover, little cards.

Always mindful of the budget, Becca wanted to create a collection where each set is all you need to make a little card.  Sweet Cardlets are small motifs with a 3″ x 3″ footprint.  Each has a background, a main character and several sentiments.

We found it the right size to fit on an A2 card and even to layer onto an A7 card.  In fact, the 3″ background can be repeated for a long background or a larger background.  Dies cut out each main character and three sentiments with each set give you lots of options.

Here are what the dies that I have used for this card looks like:

For this card I have used the very beautiful Amazing Paper Grace Christmas Lattice Arch Etched Dies 3D Holiday Vignettes Collection by Becca Feeken to create a frame for the beautiful swans and background. I have foiled some vellum with the background plate from the Amazing Paper Grace Graceful Swan Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set Sweet Cardlets by Becca Feeken and then added it to the blue background for a softer effect. I have foiled the swans on coordinating paper to tie in with the background paper. I love how you have two different finishes with the swans and I have added some dimension with foam tape.

The flowers and leaves are from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go IV Etched Dies Shadowbox by Becca Feeken and I have kept them to a very limited colour palette – light green and blue to complement the blue paper.
