We all love interactive and kinetic cards! Introducing the Christmas Cascade Collection!

This holiday collection allows you to make a Cascading Card inside of a Shadowbox Frame, mounted on a card base or unmounted. Don’t worry, these motifs make great conventional cards as well.

We listened to you, and we heard loud and clear that our community loves dynamic and purposeful cards. In previous collections we gave you 3D Vignettes in a Christmas way.  Now we’ve found a way to merge a Collection favorite, Shadowbox Vignettes, in a new format.

Becca Feeken with Amazing Paper Grace sent me these lovely dies to start my Christmas Card making!

What’s a Christmas Cascade?
Amazing Paper Grace takes a spin on Christmas by building a new collection around something you already have in your stash – the Shadowbox Dies.  Becca loves building upon what you already have and making it new again.

Christmas Cascade is made up of sets of 3″ motif dies where each set has 3 motifs.  That’s enough for each leaf of your waterfall but again, you could make them the center of your A2 or your A7 card. These, paired with the Waterfall base will allow you to use any dies to make your next Waterfall Card.

The Inspiration behind Christmas Cascade

The inspiration for Christmas Cascade was to produce a motif to use from an enclosure card all the way up to full A7 card with background layers.  This “cardlet” size has been a favorite in our stash because the elements can easily transition into all of the Amazing Paper Grace Collections and to all size cards.  Hint:  This is not the last time you will see “Cardlets”

Today I am really excited to share with you another clean and simple card made with the gorgeous new Elegant Holiday Glimmer Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate Christmas Cascade Collection by Becca Feeken. The glimmer sentiments are just so easy to use and a card can be created so quickly. The Shapeabilities Callista Rectangle Shadowbox Frame Etched Dies Shadowbox by Becca Feeken makes a fabulous base for the sentiments. I have embellished this card with the beautiful winter roses (and the gorgeous embossed flourish) from the Shapeabilities Candlewick Rosebud Etched Dies Candlewick Sampler Collection by Becca Feeken

Introducing the Amazing Paper Grace Sweet Cardlets

What’s a Cardlet, pray tell?  A Cardlet is a small motif, complete with background, sentiment and character that combine to make small card or layers onto a larger card.  We’re delighted to introduce you to the Sweet Cardlets Collection.

Becca Feeken sent over these lovely dies and watercolors for me to try.

Sweet Cardlets show up in a Glimmer format with a matching die.   They are metal plates that are used in the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System to transfer foil to paper through a combination of heat and pressure.  The Glimmer machine base is rolled through your die cut machine to deliver that pressure.  As long as you have a machine that can accommodate thick dies – like steel rule dies, you’re all set. A word to the wise, it is very addicting.  (Compatibility charts on the Spellbinders website)

The Inspiration behind Sweet Cardlets

We gotta fess up here.  There’s no such word as cardlets, yep, Becca straight up made it up.  You have to agree though, it sounds really cute, right?  Well that was the inspiration behind sweet cardlets.  As you can imagine it has something to do with cards and moreover, little cards.

Always mindful of the budget, Becca wanted to create a collection where each set is all you need to make a little card.  Sweet Cardlets are small motifs with a 3″ x 3″ footprint.  Each has a background, a main character and several sentiments.

We found it the right size to fit on an A2 card and even to layer onto an A7 card.  In fact, the 3″ background can be repeated for a long background or a larger background.  Dies cut out each main character and three sentiments with each set give you lots of options.

Each of our Creative Team members will show you their take on cards made with the Sweet Cardlets Collection.  Today we’re all using Jane Davenport Watercolors in some technique to show off Sweet Cardlets.

My Projects For Today

For my projects today I have used the very beautiful Amazing Paper Grace Lovely Ladybug Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set Sweet Cardlets by Becca Feeken and the Heart Felt Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set Sweet Cardlets by Becca Feeken.

Here are what the dies look like:

And here are the projects that I have made – a card and coordinating box using watercolours and hot foiling. I have created the background by foiling with Opal Glimmer Foil on watercolour card. I have then used the watercolours to highlight the resist effect of the foiling. The box has a shaker element to add a fun element to the project.

Designer Tip:

I have used the watercolours to colour my flowers and leaves so the colours matched with the background image that I had hot foiled and then coloured. The result is coordinating colours in the flowers and background that is harmonious to the eye.

Here is the Spellbinders video showing amazing new samples as well as a walkthrough of the entire collection:

The Inspiration behind Christmas Cascade

The inspiration for Christmas Cascade was to produce a motif to use from an enclosure card all the way up to full A7 card with background layers.  This “cardlet” size has been a favorite in our stash because the elements can easily transition into all of the Amazing Paper Grace Collections and to all size cards.  Hint:  This is not the last time you will see “Cardlets”

Today I am really excited to share with you a kinetic card made with the gorgeous new Amazing Paper Grace Holly Frame Gala Etched Dies Christmas Cascade Collection from Becca Feeken and the Christmas Cascade Card Base Etched Dies Christmas Cascade Collection by Becca Feeken in a frame made using the Die D-Lites Adjustable Shadowbox Frame with 1/2″ Border Etched Dies Shadowbox by Becca Feeken. I have embellished this card with the beautiful poinsettias from the Shapeabilities Cinch and Go Poinsettia Etched Dies Etched Dies A Charming Christmas Collection by Becca Feeken.

Here is a wee video showing how the cascade elements work. I think this will be a die set I will use often.
