Tutorial for a hinged card using Spellbinders dies.

Welcome back

As promised here is a tutorial on how I have made this hinged card using the lovely Spellbinders die Heirloom Oval.  I love the way you can layer these dies to make lots of different finishes.

Here is the card:

To make the card

Fold a piece of cardstock in half to fit the die – 12″ x 5″

Lay the outer die slightly over the edge of the fold and tape in place prior to putting through your die cutting machine.  I used my Scorpal to try and get it straight.   This will create your hinge.

To decorate the outside layers:

Cut a piece of cream cardstock using the inner, patterned and inner edge dies.

Cut a piece of contrasting colour using the inner and outer edges.  To create this I have placed all three dies together and taped them.

I then removed the inner patterned die to leave the outer edges and then die cut the coloured back.

I then layered the cream patterned piece over the coloured background die cut.

I put foam tape on the back of this piece and then adhered to the base card.

I decorated the card by cutting the centre die out in the coloured card and after cutting in half I have placed them in the middle of the card.

I then decorated with flowers made from the Heartfelt Creations Delightful Daisy set and finished with a tag from the Spellbinders Fancy Labels One.

Welcome back

Next week I have a flower making class followed by a class making bases for the flowers.   I had some fun making these flowers in different colours using the Heartfelt Creations Delightful Daisies stamp and die set.  These are so quick and easy and you can do whatever colour you like.  For these flowers I have heat embossed using the beautiful Stampendous Aged Ivory Embossing Powder on white cardstock.  Before cutting out using the dies I used my sponge dauber to add the colours – Memento Summer Sky, Dandelion, Lulu Lavender.  I have done the same thing with the leaves and used Memento New Sprout to colour them in.  I have shaped the flowers using my Heartfelt Creations Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit.  I will be putting a tutorial up later this week on how I have done the hinged card using the Spellbinders Heirloom Oval die.  I was very happy with how this turned out.
