Just a Little Note from Honey Bee Stamps

Kia ora Koutou

I have been going through my considerable craft stash and found this Stitched Lattice Frames die from Creative Expressions. I do love the gorgeous stitched trellis background and thought it would be great to have this as a background for some pretty dogwoods and a sweet little birdie from Honey Bee Stamps. My inspiration again has come from Dawn at Wplus 9 Designs.

My project

I have created a side opening base card of 5″ x 6 1/8″. I die cut a piece of blue cardstock using the second smallest die from the Stitched Lattice Frames die and adhered it to the front of the card. I die cut two lattice frames using the lattice and smallest frame dies – one from blue and one from white cardstock. These were adhered together and adhered to the front of the blue card front. I die cut two white frames using the two smallest frame dies from the Stitched Lattice Frames dies and adhered the together and added it to the front of the card using foam strips.

I stamped the sentiment from the Beccy’s Place Magnolias stamp in Jet Black ink on white cardstock and die cut it out using the smaller Stitched Scallop circles die from Pink Fresh Studio. I die cut another two circles and adhered three outside circle frames and two inner circle frames together and added them to the front of the card. I finished by adding the stamped image to the centre of the frame.

I die cut the dogwood branches out of white cardstock and coloured the branches with brown copic markers before adding all the flowers to the branches. I added one branch coming from the top right and one branch coming from the bottom left triming the ends of the branches.

I die cut the birdie out of grey, black, white and brown cardstocks and assembled them according to the instructions on the Honey Bee Stamps website. I added the bird to the left of the circle frame with foam squares. I added some more spare flowers and leaves to the base of the bird and the branches.

To finish I have added some blue iridescent gems around the sentiment.

Amazing Paper Grace Cozy Home Scene

Today I have a special card to share with you that I have made for someone that has moved into our neighbourhood and in my street. I wanted to make a card to welcome her to our friendly neighbourhood and Amazing Paper Grace had the perfect dies to do this. I have used the Amazing Paper Grace Make a Scene collection – in particular the Amazing Paper Grace Make a Scene – Cozy Home Dies. I just love all the details and textures in these dies. I have also added a couple of cats from the Amazing Paper Grace Rolling Along Scene dies as these are coming soon to the household. And to finish the card I have added some Amazing Paper Grace Layered Cherry Blossoms to remind her that it was spring when she moved in. These are not colours I normally use but I am really pleased at how they worked together in this card.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

I have used grey cardstock to make the card base using the Amazing Paper Grace Make a Scene Card Base dies. I have added some scenic pattern paper in the background to create my scene background and used acetate to hold the sentiment so the background is not blocked. For the house I have added yellow cardstock behind the windows and white trims to the windows and a white door. I also die cut the bottom half of the house out again in green cardstock to create grass. The fence has been die cut in white and I also added some green grass in front of the fence using the grass die from the Amazing Paper Grace Rolling Make a Scene Along Dies.

The measurements for the inserts are:

Back insert – acetate is 4 3/4″ x 3 1/4″

Middle insert – House is 4 3/4″ x 2 3/4″

Front insert – Fence is 4 3/4″ x 1 3/4″

For the front of the card scene I have added a white scallop frame and a blue rectangle decorative frame from the Amazing Paper Grace Scallop Facade Frame Dies. The blue frame is the same colour in the background paper and tides the whole card together.

To finish the front I have added some pink and yellow cherry blossoms from the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Cherry Dies.

The Make a Scene interactive section has then been added to a top folding 5″ x 7″ grey card base. Inside the card I have added a piece of white cardstock to write on and made a label using the Amazing Paper Grace Elegant Adornments dies out of white and grey cardstock. I have also hot foiled the ‘Welcome to the Neighbourhood’ sentiment from the Amazing Paper Grace You Are My Home Hot Foil Plates on grey cardstock in blue foil.

Sending Sunshine and Lots of Love

Kia ora koutou

I am really enjoying my marker colouring and I have a clean and simple card to share with you today. I have downloaded some free images to colour from the Altenew website here. These are great images to practice with and this image was one of them. I have used mostly Altenew Sunshine Valley Alcohol Markers Set F (finished off with Copic markers) to colour this image in after printing the image out on X-Press It paper. I have to admit I do prefer to use Copic markers – the brush is much easier to use and more juicy. However, I have not used the Altenew markers much so they may have dried out a bit. I will keep playing with them. I have kept the card very simple to highlight the flowers.

Amazing Paper Grace Stained Glass Birthday Wishes

I have been going through my Amazing Paper Grace Dies and found the gorgeous Amazing Paper Grace Stained Glass Floral Bouquet collection and specifically the Amazing Paper Grace Deco Bloom Etched Dies and decided to have some fun with it. I also had a play using a new technique (for me) – ‘smooshing’ colour onto watercolour paper and added some shine and sparkle to further enhance the stained glass effect. I found this was great for colour coordinating as the colours all harmonised due to using the same colours throughout the card. Another bonus was that I only used two die sets as everything was all included in the Amazing Paper Grace Deco Bloom Etched Dies and all I needed was a sentiment die from the Amazing Paper Grace Celebration Scene Etched Dies.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card I have made a side opening 5″ x 7″ card out of white cardstock. I die two outer frames from the Amazing Paper Grace Deco Bloom Etched Dies – one from white cardstock and one from gold cardstock. I adhered the gold die over the white die and added it to the cardfront. I coloured a piece of watercolour paper using the ‘smoosh’ technique with Squeezed Lemonade and Saltwater Taffy inks. When dry I added some 3D Crystal Lacquer to the surface for a shiny finish. I die cut this out using the inner rectangle die. I then die cut two decorative rectangles out using the Nos. 3,4 and 5 dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Deco Bloom Etched Dies – one from gold cardstock and one from white cardstock. I adhered the white die to the front of the coloured panel. I coloured two pieces of watercolour paper using the ‘smoosh’ technique using Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn inks. When dry I added some 3D Crystal Lacquer over the top. Once dry I die cut the stained glass window out of one of the green panels and then paper pierced the leaves onto the decorative stained glass window die on the coloured background. I then added the gold outline die to the top for the stained glass effect and a white centre for the sentiment. This panel was then added to the front of the card inside the frame using some fun foam.

To make the flowers and leaves I ‘smooshed’ a piece of watercolour paper with Saltwater Taffy and Kitsch Flamingo inks. When dry I added some 3D Crystal Lacquer that had some ultrafine glitter added for a sparkly shine. While that was drying I die cut the bases of the flowers and leaves out of white cardstock and the outline out of gold cardstock. Then I added the gold outline dies to the white bases and die cut the flower centres out using the inner dies from the pink glittery and sparkly paper and the leaves from the other piece of green shiny paper. These were then paper pierced to create the stained glass effect. I added these on the card as shown and used some foam squares for some dimension.

To finish my card I have die cut three happy birthday sentiments from the Amazing Paper Grace Celebration Scene Etched Dies – two from white cardstock and one from gold cardstock. These were stacked together with the gold on top and then added to the centre of the frame.

Magnolias Just For You

Kia ora koutou

This year I decided it was time to get started learning how to use alcohol markers and started doing classes with Alyce Keegan at Kit and Clowder. I have rediscovered my love for colouring and love love colouring with Copic marker as they are easier to hold in my arthritic hands. I am still building up my stock of markers and also learning new colour blends so I have used one of the colour blends from the Birds in Bloom Marker class. I do love this sweet stamp set from Beccy’s Place that I recently purchased through Krafters Cart and I couldn’t wait to have a go with colouring this. And I was very happy with the result.

I struggle with cutting up images that I have spent time colouring in but in this case I did not lose much and I love how the branch of magnolias look like it is coming from the side of the card and looking out over the window to the sky behind. The card front has been inspired by Dawn at WPlus9Design on YouTube.

My project:

I have created a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ top folding card base. I cut a piece of white cardstock 5 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 1/4″, 1/5″, 4 3/4″ and 5″ along the 5 1/4″ side. I cut a piece of white cardstock 4″ x 5 1/4: and using the cloud stencil from Waffle Flower I stenciled some clouds using Tumbled Glass ink. This was then added to the front of the card.

I die cut the circle out of the centre of the card using a circle die from the Amazing Paper Grace Fluted Classics circle die. I then embossed using the Honey Bee Stamps Dogwood 3D embossing folder and then I then folded the edges using my bone folder. I die cut a circular fluted frame using the Amazing Paper Grace Circle Fluted Classics die and added it around the circle. I added a piece of acetate behind the circle window with some double sided tape. To complete the front of the card I adhere the edges to the edges of the card front.

I stamped the images from Beccy’s Place Magnolia stamp set on Neenah cardstock in Tuxedo Black ink. I coloured the images with Copic Markers and then die cut the images out using the coordinating dies. I die cut another set of blank dies and adhere the coloured images to these. I adhere the branches around the circle and trimmed the single branch to fit the card front. I added some Wink of Stella to the flowers for some subtle shine.

Finally I stamped the sentiment from Beccy’s Place Magnolia set on black cardstock with Wow embossing ink and heat embossed with white cardstock. I trimmed the sentiment and adhered it to the bottom right of the card with some foam tape. (I would stamp the sentiment before embossing the front next time). And then I added some clear iridescent gems around the flowers and sentiment.

Celebrating Your Special Day with Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Rose

Kia ora koutou

I really am getting a little obsessed with the Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers dies. Today I have the Lovely Layers Rose to share with you. I have used the same shading technique I used for my peony and it came out lovely. Roses are my favourite flowers and I especially love the Double Delight Rose which is a beautiful full rose with yellow centres and dark pink edges and the most amazing scent. I have tried to replicate this rose with the colours I have used. And every rose deserves an elegant frame and for my card I have used one of my favourite frames from Heartfelt Creations – Fancy Classic Oval Frame. I have gone with my favourite style with a white on white background which allows the pretty rose to pop out and be the hero of the card.

My Project

I have created a side folding 5″ x 7″ card base out of white cardstock. I then cut a piece of white cardstock 4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″ and embossed it using the Spellbinders Tufted 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the front of the card. I die cut two frames out of white cardstock using the dies from the Heartfelt Creations – Fancy Classic Oval Frame. These were stacked together and added to the front of the card with foam strips. I then added a plain oval from the die to the centre of the frame.

I die cut all the flowers and leaves from white cardstock and coloured them with pink, yellow and green inks (listed below the photos). The rose, bud and leaves were assembled according to the instructions from the Honey Bee Stamps website using some foam tape for more dimension. I die cut a plain stem and leaves out of green cardstock and adhered the coloured stem and leaves to it to create more strength for the leaves and stem. The stem, full rose and bud were then added to the centre of the frame.

I stamped the sentiment from an old Heartfelt Creations stamp set – Heartfelt Sentiments in Jet Black ink on white cardstock and die cut this out using the long eyelet rectangle from the Heartfelt Creations Ticket and Tags die. I trimmed the edges and adhered the sentiment to the front of the card as shown.

To finish I have added some clear iridescent gems around the sentiment and the flower and added some Clear Wink of Stella to the rose, bud, stem and leaves for some subtle shine.

Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Peony Birthday Wishes

Kia ora Koutou

Welcome back and today I am featuring the stunning Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Peony die. I have been watching a video on YouTube by Dawn Woleslagle at Wplus9 Design on how to colour the layered flowers from Honey Bee Stamps using ink blending to create depth and dimension. So I purchased the Peony die and had a go and I was thrilled with the result. There is so much texture to the flowers and leaves even though they are actually flat. I will definitely be doing more of this colouring.

My Project

I have created a top folding 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ base card out of white cardstock. I then cut a piece of white glitter paper that has been in my stash for too many years 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and coloured the whole piece with Fresh Pear and Grassy Knoll inks and added it to the front of the card. I then die cut two dies from the Honey Bee Stamps Delicate Daisy A2 Cover Plate Top out of white cardstock. I adhered the two dies together and placed them over the sparkly green card front.

I die cut all the pieces of the Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Peony die out of white cardstock and coloured them with Light and Medium Carnation inks for the flower and buds and Light and Medium Spruce for the leaves. I assembled the flowers and buds together using some foam tape for dimension. I added the leaves to the bottom right of the card and then adhered the buds around the leaves. The large peony was added using some foam squares.

I stamped the sentiment from the Beccy’s Place Stamp Set – Blue Wren in Obsidian ink on white cardstock and die cut the banner out using the Heartfelt Creations Arrows and Banners Die set. I then adhered the sentiment to the card front with foam squares.

To finish I added some sweet ladybirds from Susan’s Garden Forget-Me-Knots and Ladybugs that I had in my stash and added them around the flowers and leaves. I then added some clear iridescent gems to the centres of the daisies on the decorative daisy die

Amazing Paper Grace Pink Floral Elegance

My very pink card today has been inspired by Barbiemania that has swept around the world in the last few weeks. My favourite colour is pink and this was an easy card for me to create with lots of pink and white layers. To soften all the pink I have used the beautiful Amazing Paper Grace Radiant Navette dies to create a pretty lace background for some gorgeous yellow and blue flowers. Also, I know a lot of people struggle with flower making and do not always have flower shaping paper to make flowers. So today I have created my flowers using a light weight white cardstock and with minimal tools and my fingers and I was very pleased with the result. And of course Barbie is full of bling and sparkle and I had to add some pink iridescent jewels and some sparkle with some glitter.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card I have created a 5″ x 5 1/2″ top folding base card out of white cardstock. I have then layered pink and white cardstock with the top pink layer embossed using the Amazing Paper Grace Orange Peel 3D Embossing Folder from the Home Sweet Quilt collection by Becca Feeken. I have then die cut the lace background out of white cardstock using the Amazing Paper Grace Radiant Navette dies. I then ink blended the plain oval die using Spun Sugar, Saltwater Taffy and Kitsch Flamingo inks before adhering the decorative oval on top. These were all assembled and then added to the front of the card

I have reversed foiled the sentiment from the Amazing Paper Grace Elegant Occasion Sentiments Hot Foil Plate and Coordinating Die using gold foil and die cut the die using the coordinating die. I then die cut three additional plain dies and stacked all together with the foiled sentiment on top. The sentiment was then added to the centre of the decorative oval.

I die cut the yellow flowers using the flower dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month March 2021 – 3D Vignette Mason Jar out of Hammermill cardstock. I have coloured the centres with Lemon Whip and Sunshine inks and then shaped them using a large ball stylus. I finished shaping the flowers by pleating the petals with my fingers. I then assembled the flowers together with two of each size. I added pink iridescent jewels to the centres of the flowers and added the flowers to the bottom right and top left of the decorative oval as shown.

I die cut the leaves from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month March 2021 – 3D Vignette Mason Jar and the Amazing Paper Grace Petite Floral Potpourri Dies using two different green cardstocks. The long leaves were trimmed and added around the flowers and the smaller leaves were added around the yellow flowers.

I die cut the small blue filler dies using the die from the Amazing Paper Grace Petite Floral Potpourri Dies. I have coloured these flowers using Summer Shower ink and shaped them using a small ball stylus. I added some yellow iridescent jewels to the centres and then added them around the leaves and yellow flowers.

To finish I have added some pink iridescent jewels around the flowers and on the decorative dies.

Celebrate Spring with Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Magnolia Honey Cuts

Kia ora Koutou

Spring is just around the corner here in New Zealand and the magnolias are out in bloom and the daffodils are starting to appear. Such a feast for the eyes after the long months of winter. Today I have another card to share with you today featuring the beautiful Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Magnolia Honey Cuts. This is such a pretty die set and the flowers are so easy to assembl and for this card I have paired the magnolia with some gorgeous Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Spring Greenery Honey Cuts for a card to celebrate spring that is just around the corner.

My Project

I have created a top fold 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ base card out of white cardstock. I have cut a piece of white card 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and die cut with the Honey Bee Stamps Delicate Daisy A2 Cover Plate Base. I ink blended some blue ink on one corner of the card and adhered this to the front of the card. I die cut two Delicate Daisy A2 Cover Plate Top out of white cardstock and stacked them together before adding the over the base cover plate.

I have die cut the leaves and greenery from the Honey Bee Lovely Layers – Spring Greenery Honey Cuts out of white cardstock and coloured them with inks and fine brushes. These were adhered to the bottom left of the card front.

I die cut the magnolia flower and leaves out of white cardstock and coloured them with inks and blending brushes. The flower was assembled using some foam strips for some dimension and added to the corner over the leaves. I have then trimmed the leaves and adhered them under the flower using some foam strips for dimension.

I have stamped the sentiment from the Pink Fresh Studio – Basic Banners Stamp Set in Obsidian pigment ink on white cardstock and die cut it with the coordinating die. I die cut another plain die and adhered the two together with the stamped sentiment on top. This was adhered to the card with foam tape.

To finish I added some blue iridescent gems to the flowers, sentiment and to the card front as shown.
