Amazing Paper Grace Irises and Hexagons

Today I am sharing a card that was inspired by the colours of my handcrafted irises. I have used the stunning Amazing Paper Grace Cascading Etched Dies by Becca Feeken to create a lovely decorative background for the Amazing Paper Grace French Braid and Hexagon Etched Dies from the Home Sweet Quilt Collection by Becca Feeken. The hexagon panel fitted perfectly over the decorative background. To complete the card I have made a bouquet made using irises I created from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go IV Etched Dies – they were the perfect dies because of the three petals and irises have 6 petals. This card would be perfect for any celebratory occasion – birthday, milestone, wedding…

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project Today

I have created a 5″ x 7″ card based and layered gold, pale blue and lilac cardstock to create the base to the decorative dies. I have then die cut the decorative die from the Amazing Paper Grace Cascading Grace die out of gold cardstock making sure that I also embossed this die and placed it on the front of the card. I then made the panel from the Amazing Paper Grace French Braid and Hexagon Panels Etched Dies using blue, purple and gold hexagons and added it to the front of the decorative die. The sentiment banner is from the Amazing Paper Grace Vintage Pierced Banners Etched Dies and I have added the sentiment die from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month March 2020 – Elegant Infinity.

I have handcrafted the irises from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go IV Etched Dies using Rajni Chawla’s Flower Shaping Paper and adhered them to the side of the panel with leaves and accents from the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Tulip Etched dies and the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month August 2022 – Peekaboo Trellis Etched Dies. To finish the floral bouquet I have added some fillers made using yellow Prills and florist wire.

The sweet butterfly from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motif Etched Dies completes the card.

The sentiment has been curved a little to fit the curved banner.

I have created a pretty petal pattern with the hexagon panel using a mix of the purple, blue and gold hexagons.

The leaves from the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Tulip Etched dies were perfect for the irises.

I have used a hot glue gun to add the Lemon Chiffon Prills to some florist wire to create the filler flowers.

I have made the butterfly out of vellum and gold cardstock to coordinate with the background colours. I have used Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac to colour the wings.

A Blue and Silver Christmas Ensemble

Kia ora Koutou

Today I am sharing the Christmas ensemble that I did for my son last year. This time I have used a blue and silver combination for the projects and used the Summer Label Motifs as the background for the sweet cat and foliage. I made a box for a bar of chocolate and unfortunately I did not get to take a photo of it separately. I used the same Summer Label Motif on this box and hot foiled the sentiment from the Spellbinders Crossed Lines Card Front Glimmer Plate to go on the front of the box. It was wonderful that I could do a little mass producing but still be able to personalise the projects for each person. I have one more ensemble to show you at another time.

My Projects:

My son also loves cats so for my card I have added a sweet cat with some Christmas foliage to the front of the gorgeous Summer Labels Motif Dies in blue and silver. The largest stitched edge die from the rectangle Amazing Paper Grace Postage Edge dies is the perfect size to trim the hot foiled background to fit the 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card base. A hot foil sentiment on blue cardstock finishes this card perfectly. The small snowflakes are from the Holiday Label Motif Dies.

Finally I have made an envelope for the gift voucher using the December 2021 Die of the Month – Enchanting Pocket Notecard, Tag and Envelope. The Christmas foliage helped to tie all the different elements to create a stunning ensemble and this took very little time to complete and for once I had my projects finished well before Christmas Day!

Amazing Quilty Hugs

I really love it when I can make two different designs using one set of die cutting. In January I created a card using the Amazing Paper Grace Amazing Paper Grace Log Cabin and Flower Mini Quilt Etch Dies in a gold and white combination. Using the left over pieces from that card I was able to make a totally different design using from the same colour combinations and similar flowers and butterflies. This time I have recessed the ‘quilted’ panel and added some pretty flowers and a butterfly to create a very elegant card.

You can see the other card here for a comparison.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

I have created a base card of 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ out of white cardstock. I then cut a piece of white cardstock slightly smaller than the base card and die cut the recess out using the outline die from the Amazing Paper Grace Amazing Paper Grace Log Cabin and Flower Mini Quilt Etch Dies. I then embossed this using the Amazing Paper Grace Orange Peel Embossing Folder and then adhering it to the front of the card using some foam tape. I added the quilted panel to the recess and decorated the card with flowers made using the Amazing Paper Grace Candlewick Rosebud Etched Dies and Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go IV Etched Dies and a butterfly from the Amazing Paper Grace Butterfly Bliss Garden Shutters 5 x 7″ Card Base Etched Dies from the Garden Shutters Collection.

To complete the card I have added the sentiment from the Amazing Paper Grace Amazing Paper Grace Log Cabin and Flower Mini Quilt Etch Dies in gold to the bottom of the card.

I have coloured the vellum using Saltwater Taffy and Kitsch Flamingo inks for the butterfly before adding the gold accents.

I have stacked the sentiment dies for more depth and dimension.

I have added the embossed layer to the front of the card using foam tape to create the recess for the ‘quilted’ panel.

3D Pillar Display Card

Kia ora Koutou

I have something very special to share with you today.. I love making my own paper flowers using dies from Heartfelt Creations and Amazing Paper Grace. But sometimes the flowers are really bulky and will not fit into the clear dimensional boxes from Heartfelt Creations. So I came across this 3D Pillar Display design from Mixed Up Crafts and it was perfect for showcasing the floral bouquet that I had made. I adapted the card to make the pillars deeper as my flowers were very dimensional – the sides are 1 1/2″ deep as opposed to 1″ deep. And I also put in a little box at the base of the card to hide the ends of the bouquet of flowers and added some moss in it. I love this sentiment that I used as it is so versatile and the card can fit so many different occasions.

You can find the instructions here: https://youtu.be/aymMouDji8A.

I have taken a class from my fellow Design Team member Rajni Chawla on how to create several different types of Sweet Peas and I was thrilled with how my sweet peas turned out. She also taught us how to create a bouquet using florist wire and tape and this was my first bouquet that I made.

Because this card was bulky I created a box to put the card in. I again used a pattern from Mixed Up Crafts and decorated it with dies from Heartfelt Creations and embossing from Amazing Paper Grace. Once again I adapted the box to make it deeper – The bottom of the box is now 1 1/2″ deep instead of 1″.

Amazing Paper Grace Quilty Friends

I have another card to share with you today featuring the beautiful Amazing Paper Grace Home Sweet Quilt Collection by Becca Feeken. This collection is so versatile and can be used in so many different ways. Today I am using the other quilt pattern from the Amazing Paper Grace Log Cabin and Flower Mini Quilts in the ‘eclipse’ technique where the pattern is raised rather than just an inlay design. The ‘eclipse’ technique is very simple and uses stacked dies to raise the shape above the rest of the card to create a shadow. This technique also reminds me of a video where twine was added to a leather bound manuscript to create a raised pattern on the manuscript front. The stitched edges of the inlaid pieces also reinforce the effect I was trying to achieve.

You can see the other card I have made using the same die here.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project:

My base card is 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and I have layered a slightly smaller plain card on top. I have die cut the largest postage edge die from the Amazing Paper Grace Square Postage Edge Dies out of white cardstock and layered onto the front of the card with foam. I then die cut the pretty background paper using the coordinating plain stitch edge die from the same set and adhered it to the front of the postage edge die. I die cut the second largest picot edge die from the Amazing Paper Grace Square Picot Petite Edge Dies in white cardstock and adhered it over the pattern paper.

To create the ‘quilt’ I have die cut a plain base out of white cardstock. I die cut three ‘quilt’ dies using the outline and inner dies from white cardstock. I stacked the three outline dies together and adhered it to ‘quilt’ base. I then die cut the ‘quilt’ from the pattern paper using the inner and frame dies. The outline was added to the stacked white dies and then I inlaid the inner pieces to the ‘quilt’ and this was added to the front of the card.

I stamped the sentiment from the Amazing Paper Grace Quilty Hugs Sentiment Stamp set onto white cardstock and die cut it with the sentiment die from the Amazing Paper Grace Filigree Eight Point Star Dies and adhered this to the front of the card as shown with foam strips.

To complete the card I have handcrafted roses from the Amazing Paper Grace Candlewick Rosebud dies and die cut the leaves from green cardstock. The leaves have been lacquered with 3D Crystal Lacquer and I have added Ultrafine Crystal glitter to the roses with clear gloss gel medium.

A Special Christmas Ensemble

Kia ora Koutou

Every year at Christmas time I like doing something special for my children. They usually get vouchers for Christmas but I like to make a special card, a gift card holder and a box of their favourite chocolates. This year I used a combination of Amazing Paper Grace and Spellbinders products to make a coordinating set for my daughter.

My Projects:

My daughter loves cats so for my card I have added a sweet cat with some Christmas foliage to the front of the gorgeous Holiday Labels Motifs Dies in red and gold. The largest stitched edge die from the rectangle Amazing Paper Grace Postage Edge dies is the perfect size to trim the hot foiled background to fit the 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card base. A hot foil sentiment on red cardstock finishes this card perfectly.

The Amazing Paper Grace October 2022 Die of the Month – 3D Poinsettia Surprise Envelope made the perfect basket to add small individually wrapped chocolates. I have continued with the red and gold them and used a gold cord to tie the top together. I have decorated the front with some Christmas foliage.
