Amazing Paper Grace Rose and Filigree Slip In Card

Kia ora Koutou

I have another very simple and yet very dramatic card to share with you today. I am normally using pastel colours but here I have used a black background to highlight stunning watercoloured roses using the dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month December 1919 Rose and Filigree Duo Slip in Card. I have taken my inspiration for this card from a YouTube video that showed how to watercolour images by using a die to emboss watercolour paper then watercolouring the embossed image and adding the outline die over top. I kept the background and sentiment very simple to highlight the gorgeous roses.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card I have created a top folding 6″ x 5″ base card out of white cardstock. I die cut the black frame using the rectangle frame and the slip in rose filigree die from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month December 1919 Rose and Filigree Duo Slip in Card. I then die cut another rose filigree shadow die out of watercolour cardstock and embossed it using the decorative insert. I watercoloured the image using watercolour paints and then adhered the painted image behind the black outline die.

I then cut a piece of gold cardstock 5 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ and a piece of old green wood pattern paper 4 3/8″ x 5 3/8″ and adhered to the front of the gold card. I then slipped this panel behind the filigree slip. This card front was then added to the front of the base card.

I die cut three ‘best wishes’ dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Make a Scene Bold Greetings – two from black cardstock and one from gold cardstock. I stacked these together with the gold sentiment on top and then added the sentiment to the bottom right.

To finish the card I added some gold pearls around the sentiment.

Better Press Happy Birthday

Kia ora Koutou

I have recently purchased the new Spellbinders BetterPress system as I had seen some gorgeous plates and samples made with the BetterPress. And as I love colouring I thought I would have a go. I am still working out the best way to use it as I am getting a little bit of movement when I am pressing the plates. I think I need my Platinum next to the BetterPress so I can minimise the likelihood of movement. However, I do love the image that comes with the machine and I will look to add more plates over time when my budget and time allows.

My Project

For my card I created a top folding 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ base card out of white cardstock. I impressed two images using the floral plate and sentiment plate that came with the machine on porcelain cardstock. I coloured on image using Zig Clean Colour Real Brush Markers and die cut it out with a small rectangle die from the Spellbinders Matting Basics A Die set. I cut a piece of black cardstock slightly bigger than the die cut image and adhered the coloured image on top of the black cardstock. This was then added to the top of the plain black and white image aligning the lines. This was then added to the front of the card base.

I die cut two large frames from the Amazing Paper Grace Fluted Classics Rectangle Dies, adhered them together and added them to the card front.

I also pressed the sentiments from the Spellbinders – Fancy Sentiment Strips Press Plate & Die Set in black ink on the porcelain cardstock and die cut it out with the coordinating die. I added a mat out of black cardstock to the sentiment and then added this to the front of the card over the flowers with foam squares as shown.

To finish the card I added a little sparkle with some clear irridescent gems around the sentiments.

Watercolouring Pink Fresh Studio Nothing But the Best Stamp

Kia ora Koutou

I have been working on my colouring techniques with both watercolour and alcohol markers. I am really enjoying the process and see my self getting better with each practice session. I used to do watercolour painting many years ago and even had an exhibition but life got in the way and it got pushed to the back burner. However, with all the beautiful floral stamps that are available now I have got back into watercolouring.

For my image I have done a no-line watercolouring of the Pink Fresh Studio Nothing But the Best Stamp on Spellbinders Better Press Watercolour Paper. I am not that happy with the watercolours as they are not very transparent – the greens were very grainy in particular – and it was not as easy to do all the shading. I have started another image using Windsor and Newton Artist Quality Watercolour paints and it is so much better. I will look at getting some hot pressed watercolour paper from the local art supply shop shortly.

I have made a frame for the image using two large Postage Edge dies from Amazing Paper Grace. I have scored at 1/2″ along the top edge to create the hinge which was glued to the top of the front die. I added a stitched edge rectangle to the front and then I then die cut the image using the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches Rectangles Dies and adhered it to the front of the frame with some fun foam for dimension.

You are the Best!

Kia Ora Koutou

Welcome back and today I thought I would share a card made during our lockdown. One of my favourite stamp sets from Altenew is the Beautiful Day set and it is perfect combined with the Beautiful Heart stamp set.

This card is sitting on my desk to keep me inspired on my papercrafting journey.

To make this card I have created a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card base from white cardstock. I have cut a piece of pearlescent vellum from Lawn Fawn 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and embossed it with the Tufted embossing folder from Stampin Up and adhered it to the front of the card. I have then cut the edge using the Lawn Fawn Reversed Stitched Rectangle die and adhere to the card front.

I have stamped the images from the Beautiful Day and Beautiful Heart stamp sets with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink on Iris cardstock. I have then coloured the images with Zig Clean Colour Brush markers and die cut with the coordinating dies. I played around with the images until I found a pleasing arrangement and then adhere to the front of the card.

To finish the card I have stamped the image from the Altenew Best Sentiments stamp set in Jet Black ink on white cardstock using the Misti. I trimmed the sentiment leaving a small white edge and then adhered to the flowers as shown with some fun foam.

I love how I can mix and match the stamp sets and be so creative with them. And I love this sentiment and why not make a card to inspire you to challenge and inspire yourself!
