Remembering with You Poppies

Kia Ora Koutou

Poppies are synonymous with grief for those lost at war and is associated with the poem ‘In Flanders Fields by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae. For more information about this poem visit here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Flanders_Fields.

In New Zealand red poppies are sold for ANZAC day (25th April) as a way to raise funds for those that have fought and/or have been injured in wars around the world. So today I have a sympathy card to share with you featuring the beautiful Wild Poppy collectionfrom Heartfelt Creations.

Clean and Simple Sympathy Card

Kia Ora Koutou

Welcome back and today I want to share a clean and simple sympathy card made using some new dies and embossing folder that I have just received.

Sometimes the dies will dictate what genre of card you end up with and this gorgeous butterfly corner die from Precious Marieke made a sympathy card inevitable.  I have cut two of the corners and trimmed the butterfly to add over the other butterfly on the corner and I put the trimmings on the opposite corner.  The Lawn Fawn frame dies are gorgeous and they framed the lovely Stampin’ Up embossing folder perfectly.  I really love the sentiment from Heartfelt Creations and it was perfect to add to the simplicity of the card.  The card looked unfinished until I added a little bit of sparkle with some sparkles from CTMH.

I have been busy creating for my final Design Team submission for the Heartfelt Creations Design Team and I am happy with what I have created.  I would like to thank all those that took the time to vote for me and all the other semi-finalists and I look forward to seeing who has made it to the final team.

Today I am featuring another card that I have made using the Flowering Dogwood dies and papers again.  This collection really resonated with me and I can’t stop creating with it.  This card could be used for wedding, sympathy and christening card or baptism, and I have left the sentiment off on purpose because of it.

Cardstock – CTMH Colonial White

Paper – Heartfelt Creations Flowering Dogwood, Vellum

Stamps – Heartfelt Creations Flowering Dogwood Flowers, Flowering Dogwood Branches, Flowering Dogwood & Doves

Dies – Heartfelt Creations Flowering Dogwood Flowers, Flowering Dogwood Branches, Flowering Dogwood & Doves, Spellbinders Pop Ups – Happy Days

Heartfelt Creations Deluxe Shaping kit.

Prills – Minnie Pearls

Spectrum Noir Sparkle Clear Overlay

Art Glitter Ultrafine Glitter – Crystal

Instructions:

Die cut the pop up base out of the Colonial White Cardstock.  Cut out the patterned pieces from a 6” x 6” patterned panel – I have used the one with the church on the bottom left.  Sponge the edges of the card and the patterned pieces with the New Sprout ink and then adhere the patterned pieces on the card base.

To make the flowers stamp the flowers with the Frost White ink and emboss with the Bridal Tinsel embossing powder.  Sponge the centre of the flowers on the back of the vellum lightly with New Sprout and die cut.  Touch the edges of the flowers with Pistachio ink and shape using the Deluxe Shaping kit.  I have layered the larger flowers and left the smaller ones single.

To make the leaves stamp the leaves with the Frost White ink and emboss with Bridal Tinsel embossing powder.  Sponge the backs of the leaves with Pistachio ink and die cut the leaves with the coordinating die.  Shape with the Deluxe Shaping kit.

Stamp the branch from the Flowering Dogwood Branches set with Frost White ink and emboss with Bridal Tinsel embossing powder.  Sponge on the back with Pistachio ink and die cut.  Shape lightly with the Deluxe Shaping kit.

Die cut a dove from the patterned paper and shape using the Deluxe Shaping kit.

Adhere the flowers and leaves as shown.  The branch has been cut to fit along the top of the card to enable easy folding.  Add the flowers as shown.  Add the dove over the flowers on the right of the card and adhere the flowers around it.

To finish add the prills to the centre of the flowers and paint the Spectrum Noir Sparkle Clear Overlay for some extra shine and shimmer.  Using the Art Glitter Dries Clear Adhesive add Crystal glitter to the dove.

Instructions:

Cut a piece of white cardstock 10” x 7”, score at 5” inches to fold and make the base card.  Cut a piece of white cardstock to 5” x 7” and then using the leafy edge from the Delicate Border Basic set die cut each end of the cardstock.  Cut a piece of patterned paper 5” x 6” and using the plain cutting edge and the stitch edge from the Classic Border Basics die cut the edges.  Cut an oval out of the centre of the patterned paper.

To create the frame die cut the large oval from the Floral Oval set.  Die cut another two of the same oval but this time using the Spellbinders Oval die cut the centre out and adhere the two pieces together.  Adhere to the base floral oval with foam tape for depth.  Adhere the patterned paper oval into the centre and then adhere the entire frame to the base card.

To make the dove stamp the image twice from the Flowering Branches set with Colorbox Frost White on vellum and emboss with Ranger Bridal Tinsel embossing powder. Colour the back of the image with the white ink and then die cut.  Shape using the Deluxe shaping kit and adhere to the centre of the frame with Art Glitter Dries Clear adhesive.  Add the second dove over top and fold the wings until they stand out for depth and dimension.

Paint all the flowers and dove with the Spectum Noir Clear Sparkle Overlay for a lovely sparkly finish.

Finally die cut the tag using the Luggage, Tags and Labels die and adhere to the card.
