Amazing Paper Grace Sympathy Card

Kia ora Koutou

I would like to take the time to wish everyone a healthy, safe and prosperous Happy New Year with lots of time for crafting therapy.

Today it is New Years Day in New Zealand and I have a gorgeous lilac and silver card to share with you today. I really love how Becca Feeken and former Amazing Paper Grace Creative Team Member Rajni Chawla mix and match layering dies and also snip dies to create a totally different look. Here I have used three different die sets – Fluted Classics Rectangles Dies, Postage Edge Rectangles Dies and Scalloped Symphony Notecard Dies to create a very elegant base for the snipped Marvelous Medallion dies. The flowers are from the Marvelous Medallion dies and off course I had to add a sweet little butterfly. The sentiment is from Beccy’s Place Wren stamp set. (It wasn’t until after I completed the card that I realised that perhaps the sympathy sentiment was not a great choice for the start of the year but it suited the card and it is always handy to have spare sympathy cards on hand – what do you think?).

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my project I have created a shaped card base using three large Postage Edge Rectangles Dies – two in white cardstock and one in silver. I adhered the two white rectangles together with the right sides out and then scored at 3/4″ along one of the short sides to create a hinge. This hinge was glued to the back of the silver rectangle. I then layered an ivory plain layer with the large rectangle from the Fluted Classics Rectangles Dies in lilac cardstock. I die cut the large scalloped edge slimline die from the Scalloped Symphony Notecard Dies out of silver cardstock. I cut this in half and trimmed about another inch of both sides before gluing the sides together to fit inside the lilac patterned rectangle. To finish the layers I added another plain layer of ivory card and the Fluted Classics Rectangles Dies in Lilac cardstock.

I die cut two medallions out – with the shadow from silver cardstock and the top decorative layer from Lilac cardstock. I then trimmed the outer edges and added them to the top and bottom of the inner rectangle as shown.

I die cut a small postage rectangle from the Postage Edge Rectangles Dies out of silver cardstock. I layered a plain layer of lilac cardstock on top. I stamped the sentiment from the Blue Wren stamp set from Beccy’s Place in Majestic Violet ink on ivory cardstock. I die cut this out using the smallest plain die from the Postage Edge Rectangles Dies and adhered it to the top of the lilac cardstock. This was then added to the front of the card to hide the edges of the medallion dies using foam tape.

I die cut the flowers using the soft flower shaping paper and coloured them in the centres with Grassy Knoll ink and the edges using Wisteria ink. I soaked these in water and then shaped them using a small ball stylus. For the larger flowers I have done two layers and for the smaller ones I have done a single layer. A small green wire pollen was inserted into the centres of the flowers.

I die cut the leaves from green cardstock and these were added to the top left of the sentiment.  I trimmed the wires from the flowers and then added the flowers over the leaves.

The butterfly from the Butterfly Bliss Garden Shutters Dies were made by using vellum coloured with Kitsch Flamingo and Shaded Lilac inks and then silver accents and a black body were added to complete the butterfly. The butterfly was then added to the bottom right of the sentiment.

To finish I added some silver pearls around the sentiment and to highlight the Marvelous Medallion dies.

I will have a full video tutorial on my YouTube channel shortly on how I have made this card and the flowers.

Amazing Paper Grace Forever in Our Memory

Kia ora Koutou

Today I have an elegant sympathy card featuring the beautiful Amazing Paper Grace Forever in our Memory from the Amazing Paper Grace Beautiful Sentiment Vignette collection by Becca Feeken. I have kept to a blue and white palette with a touch of silver accents. Lilies are often associated with sorrow and grief and I have used the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Lilies Dies to adorn this card. I love how quick and easy a card can come together when you use these sentiment vignette dies.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

To make my card I have created a top folding base card of 5 1/2″ x 6″ out of white cardstock. I cut a piece of blue cardstock 5 1/4″ x 5 3/4″ and score two lines down each side 1/8″ apart 1/4″ inside each side and adhere to the front of the card.

Die cut the shadow die from the Amazing Paper Grace Forever in Our Memory dies out of blue cardstock. Die cut the decorative die from the same set in white cardstock and emboss it before adding to the blue shadow. Adhere this to the front of the card. Die cut the shadow inner panel out of blue cardstock and two decorative sentiment dies out of white cardstock. Stack the two sentiment dies together and then add to the blue shadow before adding to the centre of the decorative frame with foam tape.

Die cut the lilies from the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Lilies Dies out of white cardstock with the stamen out of yellow cardstock. Colour the inside with Lemon Whip and Sunshine ink and assemble as per instructions. I added some Key Lime ink to the bottoms of the flowers.

Die cut the leaves and stems from green cardstock. Trim the stems and add around the decorative sentiment. Add the lilies and leaves to the stems. Die cut the stems from green cardstock and flowers from yellow cardstock from the October 2021 Die of the Month Flourished Fleurit Dies and assemble. Add these around the lilies and leaves. Die cut the stems only out of silver cardstock and add as accents around the flowers and leaves.

To finish add some silver pearls to the corners of the card and on the decorative die as shown.

Amazing Paper Grace Sympathy Card

Kia ora Koutou

My card today has been inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest and I immediately thought the beautiful Amazing Paper Grace Emmeline Treillage die would make a beautiful background to some gorgeous handmade flowers using the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go Blossoms Dies and leaves and a butterfly from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motif Dies. I have kept the colours very muted and limited to blue, green and white with a touch of lemon to keep with the sympathy theme of the card.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

I have created a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ base card out of white cardstock. I cut a piece of pale blue cardstock 4 1/8″ x 4 3/8″ and adhered it to the inside back of the card. I then die cut the lacey front out using the beautiful ‘daisy chain’ die from the Amazing Paper Grace Emmeline Treillage die. I die cut another decorative die from a piece of 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ white cardtock and adhered it to the front of the card for more strength.

I die cut three decorative ovals from the Amazing Paper Grace Double Halo Oval dies and stacked the decorative frame together and adhered it to the front of the card. I then stamped the sentiment in black ink on one of the inner ovals and adhered it to the inside of the frame.

I die cut the leaves out of two different colour green cardstocks using the dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motif Dies and adhered them to the left of the oval. I then made the dimensional flowers from flower shaping paper using the flower dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go Blossoms Dies. The blue flowers where coloured with French Ultramarine ink and the smaller flowers were coloured with Citrus Burst inks. Once these were assembled I adhered them over the leaves.

I made the butterfly out of white, blue and black cardstocks using the butterfly dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motif Dies and adhered it to the right of the oval as shown.

To finish the card I have added some white pearls to the centres of the flowers and the daisies on the decorative background die.

Clean and Simple Sympathy Card

Kia Ora Koutou

Welcome back and today I want to share a clean and simple sympathy card made using some new dies and embossing folder that I have just received.

Sometimes the dies will dictate what genre of card you end up with and this gorgeous butterfly corner die from Precious Marieke made a sympathy card inevitable.  I have cut two of the corners and trimmed the butterfly to add over the other butterfly on the corner and I put the trimmings on the opposite corner.  The Lawn Fawn frame dies are gorgeous and they framed the lovely Stampin’ Up embossing folder perfectly.  I really love the sentiment from Heartfelt Creations and it was perfect to add to the simplicity of the card.  The card looked unfinished until I added a little bit of sparkle with some sparkles from CTMH.

To make the flowers stamp the flowers with the Frost White ink and emboss with the Bridal Tinsel embossing powder.  Sponge the centre of the flowers on the back of the vellum lightly with New Sprout and die cut.  Touch the edges of the flowers with Pistachio ink and shape using the Deluxe Shaping kit.  I have layered the larger flowers and left the smaller ones single.

To make the leaves stamp the leaves with the Frost White ink and emboss with Bridal Tinsel embossing powder.  Sponge the backs of the leaves with Pistachio ink and die cut the leaves with the coordinating die.  Shape with the Deluxe Shaping kit.

Stamp the branch from the Flowering Dogwood Branches set with Frost White ink and emboss with Bridal Tinsel embossing powder.  Sponge on the back with Pistachio ink and die cut.  Shape lightly with the Deluxe Shaping kit.

Die cut a dove from the patterned paper and shape using the Deluxe Shaping kit.

Adhere the flowers and leaves as shown.  The branch has been cut to fit along the top of the card to enable easy folding.  Add the flowers as shown.  Add the dove over the flowers on the right of the card and adhere the flowers around it.
