A Sparkly Rainbow Birthday Card

Kia ora Koutou

I recently won a challenge in a Facebook group for one of my cards and I was thrilled with my prize that I received. In it was this gorgeous stencil with no branding on it but I loved it. I am relatively new to stenciling and ink blending so I had another go at a rainbow design but this time I added some sparkle to the ink blending with some Nuvo glitter paste – Moonstone. I was thrilled with the result and I will definitely do this again. I have kept my card very simple so as not to distract from the pretty sparkly pattern and just added a simple white border from the Amazing Paper Grace Hemstitch Rectangles and a white flower die that I embossed from Spellbinders that I have had for quite a while. A simple hot foiled ‘Hello’ from Pink Fresh Studio and a stamped ‘Happy Birthday’ from Honey Bee Stamps finished off this card. I was inspired for my card from a card on Instagram – however that card featured a plain dramatic ink blended background and white accents. I am in my happy space with pastels and sparkles.

Instructions:

Cut a piece of white cardstock at 6” x 12”, score at 6” along the long side and fold to make a base card of 6” x 6”.  Take a 6” x 6” panel featuring the rainbow and die cut the circle from the centre.  Adhere the frame to the card base using foam tape.  Adhere the centre panel inside the frame with Dries Clear glue.  Die cut the circle edge from orange patterned paper using the large eyelet circle and largest edge die and adhere around the die cut circle.

Stamp the seated fairy image from the HCPC-3810 Songs of Spring Stamp set in Jet Black ink on Bristol Smooth paper and die cut with the coordinating die.  Colour with the Zig markers.  Add 3D Lacquer to the wings of the fairy and sprinkle Ultrafine Crystal glitter over them and allow to dry before adhering to the top right of the oval.

Stamp the sentiment from the HCPC-3812 Raindrop Sentiments stamp set in Tuxedo Black on a piece of light blue patterned paper.  Die cut the sentiment using the tag die from the HCD1-745 Luggage and Tags Die, shape lightly and adhere to the bottom of the oval.

Stamp the leaves from the HCPC-3811 Rain Boots and Blossoms Stamp set in Jet Black ink on Bristol Smooth paper and die cut with the coordinating die.  Colour with Zig markers, shape lightly and adhere to the bottom left of the circle at the end of the rainbow and the bottom right of the tag.

To make the flowers stamp the images from the HCPC-3769 Wildwood Florals Stamp set in Brilliance Pearlescent Lavender, Jade, and Rose Coral inks on white cardstock and die cut with the coordinating dies.  Sponge the edges with the corresponding inks and shape.  Add Heart of Gold prills to the centres and Crystal Clear Glitter with Dries Clear glue.  Add over the leaves at the bottom left, the right of the tag, and the fairy and branch on the top right.

Stamp the dog image from the HCPC-3759 Pampered Pooch Pals Stamp set in Jet Black ink on Bristol Smooth paper and die cut with the coordinating die.  Using Zig markers colour the image, shape lightly and adhere to the bottom left of the card with a foam square.
