Cut a piece of cream cardstock 12” x 7”, score at 6” along the long side and fold to create a 6” x 7” card base.  Die cut the lace edges from the HCD1-7202 Album Tags & Accents Die out of the Brunswick Green cardstock and adhere to the top and side edges.  Cut a 6” x 6” patterned paper and adhere to the front of the card.

Cut a small landscape image 3” x 4 ¼” and adhere to the back of the shadow box.  Assemble the box and cut a piece of striped paper 3 ½” x 4 ¾”.  Trim the edges by ½” each side and adhere to the sides of the shadow box.  Die cut the centre of the paper using the die from the … and adhere to the front of the box.  Die cut a skunk from the paper and adhere to the inside of the box with foam tape.  Add Lion’s Mane glitter to the images and dot around the sky with Dries Clear glue.  Adhere slightly to the left of centre on the base card.  Add Lion’s Mane glitter around the inner edge of the shadow box opening with Dries Clear glue.

Stamp the tree image from the HCPC-3766 Woodsy Treescape Stamp set in Jet Black ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock.  Colour with the Zig Clean Colour Brush Markers and die cut with the coordinating die.  Shape lightly and adhere to left side of the shadow box.  Add Lion’s Mane glitter to the tree with Dries Clear glue.

Stamp the large tree images from the HCPC-3766 Woodsy Treescape Stamp set in Jet Black ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock.  Colour with the Zig Clean Colour Brush Markers and die cut with the coordinating die. Die cut a plain image from white cardstock and adhere one image to it before adding to the right side of the shadow box.  Add other trees to the right of the shadow box as shown.  Stamp the leaves from HCPC-3766 Woodsy Treescape Stamp set in Jet Black ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock.  Colour with the Zig Clean Colour Brush Markers and die cut with the coordinating die.  Shape and adhere to the top of the trees as shown.

Stamp the flower images from the HCPC-3767 Woodsy Wonderland Stamp set set in Jet Black ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock.  Colour with the Zig Clean Colour Brush Markers and die cut with the coordinating die.  Trim the lavenders and adhere to the left side of the shadow box.   Add purple flowers to the base of the trees on the right, yellow flowers to the right on the shadow box and some yellow/orange flowers to the left of the shadow box.  Add Crystal Ultrafine to the purple flowers and Lion’s Mane glitter to the yellow and orange flowers.

Trim the leaves from the log image and adhere at the base of the trees on the right.  Add Lion’s Mane glitter to the leaves and around the rocks with Dries Clear glue.

Stamp the rabbit, fox, squirrel, birds and cardinals from the HCPC-3768 Woodsy Critters Stamp set on Bristol Smooth cardstock and colour in with Zig Clean Colour Brush markers and die cut with the coordinating dies.  Shape the animals and birds and adhere to the card as shown.

Die cut the outer die from the HCD1-7203 Ornamental Tags die in Brunswick Green cardstock.  Die cut the inner decorative die from the same set in Brunswick Green cardstock and adhere to the outer die cut.  Die cut the ‘A Gift For You’ sentiment from the patterned paper and adhere to the tag.  Adhere the tag to the top as shown.

Some Masculine Cards

Welcome back

This week I am featuring some masculine cards that I have made using the Heartfelt Creations Under the Sea paper collection.  I am using these as samples in my upcoming cardmaking workshop at Gift Hutt on July 24th along with the cards that I have made using the Heartfelt Creations Italiana Riveria paper collection featured here.

I have used the lovely images in the paper collection and die cut them to make these very quick and easy cards.  Note to self – use a bit more glitter on the shaker card!

CTMH Artiste Masculine Card

Welcome

I am a couple of days late but the light has been against me for taking photographs and then I downlaoded Light Room on my computer and that took ages as well.  Never mind I am all sorted now.

So it is a very quick post showing off the versatility of the Artiste cartridge.  There are over 700 images on this cartridge which makes it very cost effective for the price which also includes 3 coordinating stamp sets as well as some dimensional shapes.  I love how you can do boxes, cards, layered images and more for any project you can imagine.

Today I have done the lovely masculine card with a coordinating envelope using Seaside papers.  Father’s Day was last Sunday in the United States so this is an appropriate card to show I think.   I got the instructions for the dimensions from Joy at Obsessed with Scrapbooking here and it was super quick and easy to make.

I have used the dots embossing folder for the tie and pocket to add some interest to the card.

And here is the back – oops there is a sneak peak of the upcoming August SOTM here.

You can cut the collar to help with opening the card up to write inside but I thought that I would put this on the back for ease of use.

This card did not take me very long at all.

Materials used:

Cardstock – Desert Sand

Paper – Seaside

Stamps – Framed

Ink – Desert Sand

Embossing Folder – Dots

Sparkles – Black and Grey Assortment

This card and many of the other cards I make are available for sale at Gift Hutt.

Nautical Themed Cards for the Men (or women) In Your Lives

Welcome back

Well the America’s Cup is finally finished and unfortunately New Zealand did not win but congratulations to Oracle for pulling off an amazing win.

As promised in my last post here are some nautical themed cards that I have just completed.  My son, James, is very keen on anything maritime and the Tommy Reflections range from Close to My Heart was perfect to make a card for his birthday next month.  I have also got the Workshop on the Go (WOTG) kit to scrapbook the photos he took on his trip to Japan when he was 15 years old.  He was really happy with this and I will try and post some photos of the layouts at another time.

For this set of cards I used only coordinating card stock from the basics colour palette, two colours of ink and two sets of stamps.    The limited colour palette created a very harmonious and subdued look that I felt suited the masculine cards really well.

I was really pleased how I was able to create a band with the anchors and tiny flag border on the bottom card- it reminded me of nautical braiding from when I was young.  I like to use a lot of edging, strips and borders in my cards, and by using stamps I was able to create the same effect with little effort.  The little boats were easy to fussy cut and apply with some foam tape to give some more dimension to the cards.

I am really enjoying using the products and especially the stamps and inks.  Because the stamps are clear it makes it so easy to position the image exactly where I want them.  The inks are beautiful as well and leave a great impression on beautiful smooth cardstock.  My cardmaking is definitely moving up another level with these products.

The materials I have used are:

Colonial White Cardstock

Champagne Cardstock

Desert Sand Cardstock

Slate Cardstock

Slate Cardstock

Cranberry Ink

Outdoor Denim ink

Desert Sand ink (this is my go to ink to distress as it gives a lovely soft distressed look to my cards)

Stamp sets – Card Chatter – Birthday, Tommy Workshop on the Go (this stamp set is only available when you buy the WOTG

Foam tape

Fiskars  SureCut Deluxe Paper Trimmer

Tombow tape runner

Non-stick Micro-Tip Scissors

Ruler – for positioning the anchor stamp

Score-Pal for scoring the lines of the cardstock

Masculine cards are so difficult to make at times but Close to My Heart have the men in your life covered so well.  Even teenage boys are catered for and I will be looking at getting the tech themed stamps and papers to make some cards for teenagers.  Watch this space…

Now I just have to decide what card to give to James and the rest will be for sale at Make Shift.  I am sure he will love whatever I give him.

I hope you enjoy my latest offerings.  My next post will be a cardmaking 101 for those new to cardmaking.

Have a great day and

Happy Stamping
