CTMH Artiste Baby mobile

I have been trying to win a new Cricut Explore machine and decided to do something completely different with what I have done before.  I had just got my new Whimsy cardstock  pack and there was the new Glacier colour in it and it is such a beautiful and soft green/blue colour.  I had seen another consultant make a three dimensional balloon with an image cut out of the Artiste cartridge and decided to take the concept further and make a baby mobile.  I am sorry but I cannot remember the name of the consultant and can’t credit her.

10464193_736848793047531_1637306791840735543_nThe small balloons have been cut out at 4″ and the large balloon at 6″.  I have cut out 4 of each layer with White Daisy, Glacier and Crystal Blue cardstocks.  I then glued the layers together using 4 different colourways.  The completed image was then scored down the centre and then glued together to create a three dimensional object.  Unfortunately, I was in a rush and didn’t take any photos of work in progress, but you can see the process in this post that I did with Christmas decorations here.  The centre balloon has a basket made out of a square created by cutting a strip of Crystal Blue Cardstock at 3/4″ and another strip of Glacier at 1/4″ and glued the lighter colour over the darker colour.  I scored at 3/4″ lengths and created a square.  (I will try and take some close up photos and post them here later).

The white clouds have been cut at sizes, 2.25, 2.00 and 1.75 inches.  I cut two clouds from the Glacier and Crystal Blue cardstocks at 2.5″.  I then layered the white clouds onto the coloured cardstock.

To complete the mobile I got a piece of dowel from Spotlight and cut it in half.  I then covered the dowel with the silver washi tape which is no longer available and then used hemp tape to tie the rods together and also created a loop to hang it up.

I have thread a needle with cotton and pierced the different shapes and tied them together.  I wasn’t too fussed about having them all at the same length as it made it more interesting.  Sewing the basket onto the middle balloon was tricky and took some time to get it looking straight.

I have been working on my son’s photos and I am up to his school photos (he is nearly 25 years old so I am catching up!) and this new Chalk It Up Reflections range is just perfect for these photos.

CTMH Chalk It Up layoutI have loosely used a pattern from the Make It From the Heart Volume 2 pattern 17 for this layout and added the numbers at the bottom from the Artbooking cartridge.  The notes pad has also been cut using the Artbooking cartridge.  I love the fact that the Sorbet cardstock has linked the now retired Balloon Ride papers to this paper range.

CTMH Chalk It Up layout

This is another layout that I have adapted from the Make It From the Heart Volume  1 – pattern 16.  I was fairly limited by the photos as these were professional photos taken at school and I have not been able to change them.  I have used the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the shapes either side of the large photo and then embossed them using the Dots embossing folder.  The Lagoon colour was perfect to match the colours in the photos, and I love the new Flaxen base cardstock.  I am not sure what other embellishments I can put on the right hand page and will look at it for a while to see what I can do.  But sometimes less is more.

CTMH Ariana and Ivy Lane purses

Welcome back.

A special warm welcome to my new followers and I hope that you find a lot of inspiration here.  I enjoy trying new ideas and techniques and Close to My Heart has been the catalyst for going to the next level for my crafting.

Today I will be showing some purses that I have made out of Ariana and Ivy Lane papers.  I love these papers and sorry to see them go but I know that there are some amazing new products coming next month.

The idea for these purses as come from Pinterest here.  They were really easy to make up and it took a lot longer to sort out the decorations on them.  To hold the purse together I have used the tiny hook and loop dots from CTMH.  These are great as they are tiny and unobtrusive and hold really well.

Paper Trail Blog – Balloon Ride

Welcome to another Paper Trail Blog Hop and this month the focus is on the the Balloon Ride papers.

If you have come from Amy’s blog,  you are in the right place and if you have just popped in to visit then feel free to have a good browse.  The blog hop is circular so once you have visited everyone you will end up where you have started.

I have been doing my son’s album and the Balloon Ride papers have been really great to stretch myself with a different colour palette.  I have also used the Artbooking cartridge to create the first layout.  Once again I have a layout from the Make it From the Heart Volume 2 book (pattern No. 13).  I have used a different overlay to the one in the book and placed strips of different colour behind the layout.  I love the effect it creates and it adds such a pop of colour on the layout.  I have also cut some other shapes out of the Artbooking cartridge to embellish the page.

I have also showed this page to demonstrate that you don’t need to have a Cricut machine to create layouts.  This is my own design using the front sheets from the Picture Your Life kit to place at the top of the page and a couple of strips down each side of the page.  The photos work in well and I have just added a couple of complements from the Balloon Ride Complement set.

This is another double layout I have done using the Artist Cartridge as well as the Artbooking cartridge.  I have used the pattern 6e  (Half & Half-Tags) from the Reflections Scrapbook Programme for my inspiration and I am really pleased how it has turned out.

Here is a close up of both pages of the layout.  I have been admiring the merry go round in the Artiste cartridge for a long time and I am so thrilled that I could use it on this layout. The base is made out of S0rbet cardstock and the second layer is made from the sorbet crackle paper in the paper pack.  I have finished off with Crystal Blue cardstock to create some unity with the colours in the paper and the photos.  I have also made the rosette out from the Artiste cartridge and topped it with the Fun stamp out of the June SOTM set – Kaboom (NLA).  The title and the pocket with the journalling tag is from the Artbooking cartridge.  I have used off cuts from the overlay in the first layout to decorate several layouts to create unity with this album.  The tags have been cut by hand.

To start with I wasn’t too sure about this paper range as well but the colours are so beautiful and the album is turning out really well.  I have combined traditional layouts with the Balloon Ride Picture Your Life programme to get through the photos quickly.

I couldn’t resist putting in some cards that I have made with the Balloon Ride papers and the coordinating stamp set Give a Lift.  I have not used Creme Brulee cardstock before but it tones beautifully with the Ballon Ride papers.

I have paper pieced the image using the blue paper and Sorbet, Crystal Blue and Creme Brulee cardstock.  I have also used the offcuts of the overlay I cut out for the first layout featured at the beginning of the post.

I love the colour combination here and the three dimensional effect that I have achieved with overlaying the trimmed image over the balloon background paper.  I have sanded the edges of the Sorbet and Creme Brulee cardstocks to give a lovely edge to the matting.  The balloon image has been paper pieced using the patterned paper and Sorbet cardstock.

This was a quick and easy card and the balloon image has been coloured using the watercolour pencils from CTMH.  I used to do a lot of water colour painting once until I became ill and now I am enjoying doing using these pencils and creating the watercolour effects again.  I have used my watercolour brushes to create the lovely soft effects.  I have also used the paper piercing tool to create a pattern on the trim as seen in the photo below.

This final card has had the stamped image coloured in using the watercolour pencils and then blended with the watercolour pen available from CTMH.  As you can see it is a much more vibrant colour to the washed look of watercolour.  DSCF1503

CTMH Cricut Cartridges

Cricut cartridges

Since I have started with Close to My Heart I have relished the chance to do lots of different papercrafts.  I have purchased all three Cricut cartridges and I am constantly looking at the booklets that come with the cartridges to do different things.  The Artiste cartridge is great for doing 3 dimensional items such as rolled flowers and lots of different boxes along with an impressive range of embellishments, the Art Philosophy is great for tags and labels while the Artbooking is a very versatile cartridge that does lots of overlays as well as lots of different embellishments for both scrapbooking and cardmaking.  I have used metal dies in the past but rarely use them now as while you can get a clean and crisp image with them you are limited to the size of the die.  With the Cricut machine I can cut each image at whatever size I want plus each cartridge comes with about 700 images, three stamp sets to coordinate with them and dimensional elements to add that little something special to a card or layout.   With all these images on the three cartridges I have not even thought about buying other cartridges.

From the Artiste cartridge I have  made these note boxes from page 65 of the booklet.  They have been cut from Cotton Candy and Buttercup cardstock at 4 1/4″.  (If you love the Buttercup cardstock it is on the retiring list so be in quick to order it).  It is a beautiful colour.  The flowers are cut from the Artiste cartridge as well and the leaves from the Art Philosophy cartridge.

Here is a close up of using the piercing tool to create a pattern on the edge.

DSCF1465Here is some small cards made out of the Art Philosophy cartridge.  I have cut them all out at 3″ to fit the 3″ envelopes available from CTMH as a bulk order.  You can see with these cards how it it so easy to cut different sizes for the tags to layer on top of the cards.  I have used 4 different shapes for the cards.

I love how the stamp sets coordinate with cartridges.  I have used the stamp sets that come with the cartridges.

Finally here are a couple of examples from the Artbooking cartridge.  I have cut the overlay at 2 1/2″ and it made a nice background to layer the tags from the Art Philosophy cartridge.

DSCF1451This is a sneak peak of my next post for the Paper Trail Blog Hop featuring the Balloon Ride papers.  I have cut an overlay as well as the titles from the ArtBooking cartridge.  This is such an amazing cartridge and I use it all the time.  I have placed small strips of different coloured cardstock behind the overlay to make this colourful addition to the overlay.

CTMH White on white card

Hello there

Just a very quick post today to show you my latest card.  I have had this in my mind for a while and had to get it out.  This is similar to what I was doing prior to starting up with Close to My Heart and could be suitable for any occasion – including bereavements.   I love white on white and here I have combined texture from three different embossing folders from CTMH – Stripes, Damask and Dots.  I had cut out the shapes using the Art Philosophy cartridge and then run them through my Cuttlebug.  I am so pleased how they turned out.  The flower is made from rolling a rose cut from the Artiste cartridge at 3″ and the other petals are cut from Art Philosophy at 3″ and 2 1/2″ (I think – I had cut them out a while ago).  The leaves are from Artiste as is the tag.  The sentiment has come from the Just For You stamp set while  I have finished it off with a couple of black sparkles.

Welcome to my new followers and I hope that you enjoy reading my weekly blog showcasing the wonderful CTMH products.

I have realised that I have missed a couple of milestones.  One is that my post on the pennant frames made the top 10 for the Heart 2 Heart Challenges in May.  I was thrilled to see my name and image on the honour board and when my life settles a little I will try and enter more challenges.

The other milestone I missed was that I have now written over 200 blog posts.  I have now been blogging nearly two years and while sometimes it can be a chore it is also challenging me to do different and interesting every week to help inspire others to be more creative.

Today I will show cards that I have made for a craft fair I went to last weekend.  I wanted to show the range of papers available and I heard some lovely comments about how beautiful my cards were.

(I do apologise for the quality of the photos but it was getting dark when I took these photos).

This card has been made using the Jubilee paper and the SOTM set which was featured in last weeks blog hop – ‘Karboom’.   As I said last week these papers and stamps were meant to be together and this card would be great for a masculine card.  I have finished off with a dimensional star which has been distressed with Cashmere ink and then I have topped off with a blue epoxy bubble.  Finally the blue epoxy bubbles help to anchor the ‘celebrate’ sentiment onto the card.

DSCF1419This card is another masculine card using the Timberline papers and these papers work so well together with the Bamboo cardstock that has been embossed with the stripe embossing folder from CTMH.  I love using the  Perfect Fit – Frames 2 and the Holiday Tags stamp sets and here I have used foam tape to raise the Happy Father’s Day image on the frame.

DSCF1417I love the simplicity of this card and I have used the paper and colours from the Balloon Ride papers.  This card is a sneak peak of what I have been up to with the Balloon Ride papers for another blog hop at the beginning of next month.  Again I have used the stripe embossing folder to emboss the centre panel and have done a variation of my favourite card pattern from the Make It From Your Heart Volume 2 for a change.  I have used Frame Flair stamps and the Happy Birthday is from the Cursive Birthday stamp set.

This Skylark card was easy to do as I used the beautiful papers to their full effect.  I have used the corner of one of the B&Ts which already had a lovely pattern with ribbons and stamping.  I have added a couple of extra pennant ribbons with one one made from the other side of this paper and a piece of teal shimmer trim.  The aqua dots work so well with Skylark as well.  I have stamped the corner with the corner stamp from the Believe in Yourself stamp set with Lagoon ink.  I then stamped the Believe in Yourself sentiment from the same stamp set onto White Daisy cardstock which has been matted with Lagoon cardstock.  I have then finished off with a teal resin flower from the Skylark assortments.

 

 

 

 

DSCF1415This card has been made using the Ivy Lane papers and this time I have done the pattern from the Make It From Your Heart Volume 2 book and used the zip strip for the band.  I love the Frame Flair stamp set as the stamps are so versatile for different uses.  Here I have layered the image with a circle cut out from Pear cardstock and then layered it with a circle from the Perfect-Fit Birthday stamp set and then I have cut the flower from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.  The flower has made by cutting three different sizes and then I have sponged the edges with Hollyhock ink and finished off with a flower from the Ivy Lane assortments.

I think this is my favourite paper pack out of all the new seasons papers.  The Ariana papers have a very vintage feel and look great distressed with Cashmere ink.  This is what I have done here with the papers, sentiment and the butterfly.  The butterfly has been cut using the Artbooking cartridge and I have layered the patterned lower image with the Ariana Coral cardstock (which is only available with this paper pack)  and finished off with the sparkles from the Sparkle – Flourishes set.

Finally here is the Lollydoodle papers.  I love pink and it is so easy to make cards with this paper packet.  Here I have used the Charming Chevrons stamp set and stamped the images using Cotton Candy ink and then trimmed the chevrons out with scissors and then I have finished them with the coordinating sparkle shapes.  I have used the Frame Flair stamp and then layered the smaller image from the Cricut Art Philosophy Tags stamp set.  This stamp is great as you can chose who you give this card too.  I have used a Flamingo dot to the top of the tag.  I love combining different patterns and shapes and stretching the rules with patterns and shapes.

Australasian CTMH SOTM Blog Hop – ‘Kaboom’

Today I would like to share with you a layout which features June Stamp of the Month ‘Kaboom’   available exclusively throughout June for $29 or for just $5 when you spend $75

The Jubilee range of papers go so well with the ‘Kaboom’ stamp set especially as the ticket image actually says ‘Admit One to a Real Jubilee’ I have got my inspiration from the WOTG for Jubilee but then added my own twist.  I loved how the patterned paper edged the layout and I have copied it here but I have used the kraft cardstock as base instead of the blue cardstock base.

I have then used the big star burst and one of the smaller star burst stamps and stamped the background with Indian Corn Blue, Cranberry and Honey randomly.  (I have got this idea from another CTMH consultant on Facebook).

I have basically followed the Front & Centre – Accent Band pattern in the Reflections Scrapbook Programme with a band along the centre.  I love these books as they give all the instructions on cutting the pieces as well as showing alternatives to suit your photos.

 

CTMH Jubilee layout using the June SOTM set - KaboomFor the centre band I have used Indian Corn Blue and Cranberry cardstock.  I then matted the photos with Indian Corn Blue cardstock and placed them on the above and below the centre band.  I have been wanting to do the cute owl in the Artbooking Cricut cartridge for ages and thought it would go great with the school theme.

The owl has been cut out using Slate as the base of the cut, Cashmere for the top layer and then I have laid it all on Cocoa cardstock and trimmed the cardstock around the owl.  The tree branch has been cut using Olive cardstock and the leaves from Topiary. The apples have been cut out of Cranberry cardstock and distressed with Cranberry ink.  All cut pieces have been distressed with Cashmere ink.

I have also used the Artbooking Cricut cartridge to cut the title on the left ‘think, grow, learn’ out of Topiary cardstock as well.  The letters on the right layout is from Art Philosophy and I have cut them out Topiary.  Again they have been distressed with Cashmere ink.

To embellish the layouts I have stamped the movie ticket image several times to make the two tickets.  The first ticket I stamped the image with Cocoa ink on Colonial White cardstock and trimmed it with scissors.  I then stamped the same image with Indian Corn Blue on Colonial White cardstock and I then trimmed the middle part out and adhered it to the first image.  The second ticket was created by stamping the image with Cocoa onto Indian Corn Blue and then fussy cut out.  I then stamped the image with Cranberry onto Colonial White cardstock and trimmed out the middle and adhered it onto the the blue ticket.  I then placed them over the ticket image already on the paper to create some dimension.  The ‘fun’ image has also come from the ‘Kaboom‘ stamp set and I have stamped this with Indian Corn Blue ink onto a round dimensional element and then distressed with Cashmere ink.  This was then placed over the tickets.

The ‘Lets Celebrate’  image has been stamped with Cocoa ink on Colonial White cardstock.  I then stamped the same image with Cranberry ink   on Colonial White cardstock and just trimmed the ribbon and then adhered it onto the original image.  I then placed it over the corner of the top photo.

The gingham button has been created by gluing the paper onto a dimensional element using the Bonding Memories glue.  I trimmed around the edge and then used a sanding tool to sand the inside to reveal the star shape.  I then glued some Cranberry cardstock underneath and then trimmed closely.  To finish off I have distressed again with Cashmere ink.

The mini starbursts have been cut using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge using varying  sizes.  The small size was ideal for the mini starburst image and I have stamped several using Honey, Cranberry and Indian Corn Blue ink.  I have distressed them all and then added them randomly throughout the layout.

The ‘What a Blast’ image has been stamped using both Cranberry and Indian Corn Blue Ink onto the medium sized cuts and edged with the same colour ink before placing over another slightly larger cut which had already been distressed with Cashmere ink.  This created an illusion of a dimensional element and went well with the layout.

I have actually finished the journalling as well by using a hidden tag under the last photo.  Normally, I find the journalling the most difficult part but for this layout it was quite easy as the photos were really fun and I can remember it like it was yesterday (in reality it was too many years ago to count!).  I have cut the tag from the same page that I have cut the ticket shape from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge so there is some continuity within the layout.  I have distressed again with Cashmere ink and wrote the journalling with a marker.  I have cut strips of gingham paper to make some tags and then placed the tag behind the photo.  This is a great way to put journalling on a page without disrupting the layout.

Finally I have placed some strips of patterned paper and dove tailed them for some added colour.

This was a fun layout to do as the photos were interesting and the ‘Kaboom‘ stamp set and Jubilee papers went so well with the colours and theme of the photos.

For today I have made some cards using the stamp set.  These make great sentiments for cards and useful for either feminine, masculine or children’s cards.  I have used two different paper packs for these cards to show the versatility.

I have used the Balloon Ride Picture My Life products to create this card as well as papers from the Balloon Ride paper pack.  For the sentiment I have stamped the image with Black ink on Ruby cardstock and then stamped again on some blue paper and then cut out the middle and adhered it to the centre of the image.  I have done the same for the red/pink ribbon

I have used the pattern out of the Make it From Your Heart Volume  2  to make this card.  This makes a lovely masculine card – especially with the moustache which I have stamped with chocolate ink onto Saddle cardstock and then cut out and placed over the original image which I have stamped using Sorbet ink.  Finally in keeping with the French theme I have used my Cricut Artist cartridge to cut out the Eiffel tower from Chocolate cardstock which has been distressed with Slate ink.

For the other set of cards I have used Lollydoodle papers.  I love the pink and greens in this paper set and I have also used some gorgeous pink glitter cardstock to add some extra bling.

For this card I have added some hearts cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge and the sentiment from the Artbooking cartridge.  The butterfly is from the Artiste cartridge.

Here I have stamped the image in Outdoor Denim ink on Pear cardstock and fussy cut it out before I used foam tape to adhere to the White Daisy cardstock.  I have used the a stamp from the Card Chatter – Sympathy set that just fitted in with this particular stamp.

For this card I have used sponge daubers to place the ink on the stamp.  I have used Cotton Candy on the ‘Friend’ and Pear on the rest of the stamp. I am in love with the Flamingo dots.  They add such a different dimension than the glitter gems.   I am really pleased how it has turned out.

This week I have decided to do something quite different.  I have seen a lot of other consultants doing these pennant frames and thought I would give it a go myself.  Close to My Heart do not just cater for card making and scrapbooking but they also provide a range of great products to decorate and add to your home decor.  I have also entered this project in the Heart2Heart Cricut Challenge.

This is the pennant frame and I have cut out the paper from the Ariana paper pack using my Artbooking Cricut cartridge.  I have made the daisy flower from the Art Philosophy and Artiste cartridges following Cathy Derouche’s instructions on YouTube.  For my version of the daisy I have started with White Daisy cardstock and sponged the edges with Buttercup ink and the centre has been completely sponged with Buttercup ink to give a softer effect than using Buttercup cardstock.   The butterfly is from the Artbooking cartridge and the scalloped edging is from the Art Philosophy cartridge.  As it is Mother’s Day coming up next month I thought that it would be nice to turn this into a  silhouette picture and use the fabulous Mother’s Day stamp set and make a lovely gift for a child to give to their mother.

DSCF1170Of course I had to add some bling to this very feminine frame.  I have used the Sparkles Flourish and the clear Sparkles to add some shine.

For something completely different I have created a masculine looking pennant frame for someone to put their own photo in it.  The feedback that I have been getting from the public is that there is not enough out there for the men and boys in our life.  So I have done a simple blue pennant with a nautical theme.  My son is mad on boats and I probably had him in mind when I made this, and the Ariana blue stripe does have a masculine, nautical feel to it.

I have used the dimensional elements that came with the Tommy WOTG (now retired) and Cricut cartridget sets and distressed them with Desert Sand ink before inking the sentiments and shapes with Outdoor Denim.  I have used the now retired Tommy WOTG stamp set as well as the Sail Away stamp set which is still available.  I have used the zip strip from the Tommy paper packet (also retired) which blended in well with the distressed embellishments.

DSCF1174As you can see I have used papers from the Ariana paper packet and created two very different pennants which shows how versatile this pack is.  I think it is my favourite out of all the new papers.

I am really impressed at how far one paper packet has gone.  Apart from using a couple of extra base sheets for an extra double layout I have done 3 double layouts, two pennant frames and at least 10 cards with the one pack.  This is really great value at NZ$17.
