Classic Elegance: “With Love” Handmade Card

Kia ora Koutou

There’s something timeless about a card filled with soft details, delicate layers, and beautiful die cutting. For today’s project, I’m sharing a classic and elegant “With Love” handmade card featuring decorative lacy die cuts, romantic roses, and graceful butterflies—perfect for anniversaries, weddings, or simply sending love.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creation.

The Design Inspiration

I wanted this card to feel soft, feminine, and refined, with lots of texture but still light and airy. Lacy decorative die cuts are the star of the show here, creating an intricate backdrop that instantly adds elegance without overwhelming the design. Light gold accents add a touch of class to the card.

Layered Die Cuts & Soft Florals

The lacy die cuts were layered over a clean card base to give subtle depth and dimension. I added beautifully shaped die-cut roses to bring warmth and romance while keeping the overall design classic and timeless.

Butterflies for a Finishing Touch

No elegant card feels quite complete without butterflies. These delicate die cuts add movement and softness, drawing the eye across the card and balancing the floral cluster beautifully. A few gently lifted wings give the design extra dimension and charm.

Sentiment: With Love

The simple “With Love” sentiment was kept clean and understated so it wouldn’t compete with the detailed die cutting. Sometimes less really is more—especially when the surrounding elements already say so much.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Card Base
Create a card base using smooth, heavyweight cardstock. Keeping the base clean allows the decorative die cuts to remain the focal point of the design. Add a layer of soft green pastel pearl card to the front of the card. To add extra interest to the base I have scored the card using a score board.
  2. Decorative Lacy Panel
Die cut the lacy decorative panel from crisp white cardstock and adhere it to the card front using foam tape ensuring all delicate details are securely attached. Add a panel of soft pastel green pearl cardstock over the middle of the decorative white panel
  3. Layered Die Cuts
Add a hemstitched rectangle frame over the green panel with foam strips create depth and visual interest. Add a panel of white card to the centre of the frame. Add the decorative frame to the front of the rectangle frame. I have also layered some gold behind the white frame for an extra touch of elegance.
  4. Die-Cut Roses
Die cut the rose elements from soft floral shaping paper. Colour with inks before shaping and assembling the roses give the flowers a natural, dimensional finish. And repeat with the coordinating leaves.
  5. Floral Arrangement
Arrange the roses over the frame on the left over a gold flourish and some leaves. Add some pretty sparkly foliage around the floral arrangement.
  6. Butterfly Details
Die cut the butterflies out with coordinating cardstock and adhere only the bodies, leaving the wings free. This adds movement and balances the floral cluster beautifully.
  7. Sentiment
Add the “With Love” sentiment using foam adhesive. Keep the placement simple so it complements rather than competes with the detailed background.
  8. Finishing Touches
Ensure all elements are firmly adhered. Add minimal embellishments if desired to enhance the elegant, classic finish. Here I have added some pearls to the decorative die cuts and some sparkles to the butterflies. Some glitter was added to the roses with clear gloss gel.

Final Thoughts

This card is a perfect example of how decorative and lacy die cuts can instantly elevate a handmade project. Paired with roses and butterflies, the result is a card that feels classic, elegant, and heartfelt—ideal for those special moments when only a handmade card will do.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope this inspires you to pull out your favourite lacy dies and create something beautiful with love 🤍

Amazing Paper Grace With Love Fleur de Lis Grandeur

Kia ora Koutou

I have another Amazing Paper Grace beautiful, timeless, and elegant shaped card to share with you today using the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month May 2020 Fleur de Lis Grandeur Foldover Die set. This die set is a quintessentially Becca Feeken design with the decorative inlays, the ability to layer dies in many ways and even to be able to make beautiful boxes to create a stunning ensemble. You can also make a shaped card, a 6″ x 6″ card or an envelope, and also use the inner square dies to make a note card. What more can you want from a die set! There is even a flower die to help you complete your project. For my card I have made a shaped 6″ x 6″ card and used the inner square decorative frame dies to create a very pretty aperture for my sentiment. And I love this sentiment as it can be used in so many different settings such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries etc.

You can watch Becca creating a notecard with matching decorative envelope here.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

To make my card I made a top folding shaped card out of blue cardstock by diecutting the card using the large shadow die and leaving one side of the die slightly over the edge of the fold. I then die cut two decorative large square dies using the four decorative corners out of ivory pearl cardstock. These dies were stacked together and then added to the front of the card. I then die cut one small plain square die out of blue cardstock and four small decorative dies with the centres removed. I stacked two of the decorative dies together and then added it to the plain blue square and added it to the centre of the card front. I then stacked the remaining two small decorative square dies together and rotated them around 90 degrees and added it to the front of the card using foam strips.

I die cut three sentiments from the Amazing Paper Grace With Love Regalia dies – two from ivor pearl card and one from gold glitter card. I stacked these together with the gold die on top and then added it to the centre of the frame.

I die cut some foliage from the Amazing Paper Grace My Sweet Friends Dies out of light green cardstock, trimmed and added it to the top right and bottom left of the frame.

I die cut the leaves from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch & Go IV Dies out of green cardstock and shaped them using my fingers and added them over the light green foliage.

To make the flowers I used the flower die from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month May 2020 Fleur de Lis Grandeur Foldover Die set and die cut the petals out of flower shaping paper. I coloured the petals with yellow and pink inks, spritzed them and shaped them using a medium ball stylus. Once the petals were dry I then assembled them with two layers per flower. I then die cut the small stamens out of the same paper using the die from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go Blossoms Dies, coloured them with yellow ink and shaped them before adding them to the centre of the flowers. I added three flowers to the top right and bottom left over the leaves.

To complete the floral bouquets I added some leaves from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motif Dies out of gold glitter paper and added them around the leaves and flowers.

I die cut the butterfly from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motif Dies out of cream and yellow pearl cardstock and the body out of gold glitter cardstock. I assembled the butterfly and added it to the card as shown.

To complete the card I added yellow gems to the centres of the flowers and pearls highlighting the background dies and some Star Dust Stickles to the flowers and butterfly.

Amazing Paper Grace Lattice Quadrante Box

Kia ora Koutou

Today I have a box to share with you that I made to coordinate with my last card. I enjoy making boxes and they are so easy to create. I have used the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month September 2020 Lattice Quadrante dies as a frame work for my box and the same colours and embellishments from my card on the box to create this ensemble. This ensemble would be fabulous to give as a gift and the box is perfect to keep treasured keepsakes in it.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

The Amazing Paper Grace Lattice Quadrante Die set has four identical motifs that function as inlays or can be used altogether with a rim to make a rounded central element.

My Project

For my project I made a base box measuring H 2 1/2″, Length 4 1/4″ and Width 4 1/4″. I added a 1/8″ to the top to allow for the lid to fit snugly. I cut a piece of white cardstock (300 gsm is a good weight to make boxes with) 9 1/2″ x 9 1/2″ and scored each side at 2 1/2″ in. I trimmed the ends to make the flaps and then glued the flaps inside the box to create the box. For the top I have cut a piece of white cardstock 9 7/8″ x 8 7/8″ and scored each side 1″ in. I trimmed the ends to make the flaps and then glued them inside to create the top of the box. I have photos showing how I have created the flaps to make the box here.

I die cut two shadow dies out of pale blue cardstock and two decorative die out of white cardstock using the shadow die and the four decorative corner dies. I die cut eight decorative corners out of gold cardstock using the decorative corners and the edge dies. I adhered the gold decorative corners under the white decorative corners slightly offsetting them and then added the decorative dies to the blue shadow base. I glued the box base to the top of one of the decorative squares and the box top to the back of the decorative square to create the decorative finish to the box.

I die cut a plain circle out of blue cardstock and a circle frame out of white cardstock using the dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Candlewick Circle dies. I die cut a plain gold frame to glue under the decorative frame and then added the frame to the blue base using foam tape. This was then added to the top of the box.

I die cut the leaves from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go III dies out of green cardstock and adhered them over the bottom left of the frame,. I die cut, coloured and shaped the flowers from the same die set, assembled them and added them over the leaves. I die cut small filler flowers from the Amazing Paper Grace Petite Floral Potpourri dies and coloured them in yellow and blue inks, I shaped them and added wire stamens through the centres of the flowers, trimmed the wires and added them to around the larger pink flowers. To finish the bouquet I added some gold leaves from the Amazing Paper Grace Pinkaboo Trellis Dies.

I die cut three ‘With Love’ sentiments from the Amazing Paper Grace With With Love Regalia Card Builder Dies – two from pale blue cardstock and one from gold cardstock. These dies were stacked together with the gold die on top and then added to the centre of the frame.

I made a butterfly from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motif Dies out of vellum and accented it with a gold body. This was added to the frame as shown.

I die cut eight corner dies using the decorative die and edge dies – four from white cardstock and four from gold cardstock. I adhered the gold dies under the white dies slightly offsetting the gold dies. I then die cut four shadow dies just using the edge dies and adhered the decorative corners to the shadow dies. I trimmed these corners and added them to base of the four sides.

To add the trim to the box top around the sides I cut four pieces of gold cardstock 1/2″ x 4 3/8″, scored along each side of the strip and adhered them to the four sides of the box top. I then cut four pieces of blue cardstock 12″ x 4 3/8″ and adhered them to the centre of the gold strips.

Amazing Paper Grace Pearls and Lace with Love

Kia ora Koutou

I have another soft and romantic card full of pearls and lace to share with you today featuring the beautiful Amazing Paper Grace March 2022 Die of the Month – Bella Ovalette. I have been going through my stash of papers and dies and found this absolutely beautiful pearl embossed paper that my daughter had bought for me from Sydney many years ago. It is such a soft and pretty silver/blue colour and was perfect as the background to the stunning dies. Everything is included in this Bella Ovalette die set including the flowers and leaves and all I needed to add extra was the sentiment from Beccy’s Place. Lots of different layers on top of the embossed paper makes this card so ‘amazing’ in real life.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card I have made a top folding 5″ x 7″ card out of white cardstock. I trimmed the blue/silver paper to 4 7/8″ x 6 7/8″ and added it to the front of the card.

I die cut the one decorative base out of white cardstock using the large decorative frame and then die cut two decorative frames using the decorative frame and the inner rectangle frame from white cardstock. These were stacked together and then added to the card front. I then die cut 4 decorative rectangles using the plain rectangle die, the middle decorative die and the inner plain die out of white cardstock. I stacked these together and added them inside the larger decorative frame.

I die cut two inner decorative accents using the small accent die and the circle die and adhered them together.

Using the decorative accent as a guide for placement I stamped the sentiment from Beccy’s Place on one of the discarded inner panels from the rectangle dies using Tuxedo Black ink. This stamped inner panel was then added to the inside of the rectangle frames.

I die cut the flowers out of soft flower shaping paper and coloured one set with light blue ink and the other set with light yellow inks. After spritzing the petals with water I shaped them using a small and medium ball stylus on foam mats. Once dry these were arranged on the bottom right and the top left of the rectangle frame as shown.

I die cut the leaves from the light green cardstock and added them around the flowers as shown.

To finish I added pearls to the flower centres and on the die cuts.

Amazing Paper Grace Flowers and Butterflies

Today I am taking a fresh look at the Amazing Paper Grace Home Sweet Quilt collection by Becca Feeken. My card today was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest and I thought that I would challenge myself further and make a shaker card using the Amazing Paper Grace French Braid and Hexagon Panel Dies from the Home Sweet Quilt collection. I have added some pretty coloured flowers and butterflies from the Amazing Paper Grace Seasonal Label Motif Collection by Becca Feeken.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

I have made a 5″ x 7″ side opening card base from heavy white cardstock. I cut a piece Hammermill cardstock 5″ x 7″ and adhered it to the front of the card. I then cut a piece of white cardstock 4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″ and die cut the hexagon panel out on the left side using the hexagon panel die from the Amazing Paper Grace French Braid and Hexagon Panel Dies. I die cut the outline of the hexagon panels out of white cardstock and adhered it over the die cut panel. I cut a piece of acetate 5 3/4″ x 3″ and adhered it behind the die cut panel on the back. I then added foam strips around the panel and over the rest of the front panel on the back and added some iridescent heart sequins behind the die cut panel and added it to the card front to create the shaker element. I added some of the pieces left over from die cutting the hexagon panel to the left side of the panel to create a base for the leaves and flowers to lie on.

I die cut the flowers from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motifs Dies and the Spring Label Motifs Dies out of Hammermill cardstock and coloured the pink flowers with Light and Medium Carnation inks and the blue flowers using Crystal Violet and Alpine Aster inks. I die cut the leaves and stems out of two green coloured cardstock using the leaves and stems from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motifs Dies, the Spring Label Motifs Dies and the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Cherry Dies. I then arrange the flowers and leaves over the left side of the card using liquid glue and foam squares.

I die cut the butterflies out of vellum using the butterfly dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motifs Dies. I coloured the vellum wings with Squeezed Lemonade and Spiced Marmalade inks and assembled them with a black body. These were placed over the flowers.

Finally I die cut three ‘With Love’ sentiments from the Amazing Paper Grace With Love Regalia Dies out of Hammermill cardstock and stacked them together before adhering to the bottom right of the shaker panel.

Amazing Paper Grace Apple Blossoms With Love

My favourite season of the year is Spring because it heralds warmer and sunnier weather and lots of flowers and beautiful scents! Today my card has been inspired by spring and apple blossoms are just the embodiment of spring. The soft pink flowers just waft in the gentle spring breeze and brings lots of bees to pollinate (as well as pretty butterflies) so we can have apples in the autumn!

I love making flowers using Amazing Paper Grace dies and have used a mix of older dies and newer dies to create this card. I love the little flower die from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month – March 2020 Elegant Infinity as it can be used in so many different ways. Here I have paired the flowers with the leaves and branches from the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Cherry Blossom dies to create a branch of apple blossoms and added them to a gorgeous decorative background. I love this sentiment from the Amazing Paper Grace With Love Regalia die and it makes this card perfect for Mother’s Day or any other occasion to show your love.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card I have created a side folding 5″ x 7″ card base and added layers of gold and cream cardstock. I have die cut a pretty decorative frame out of cream cardstock using the Amazing Paper Grace Eyelet Lace Frame Die. I have backed this decorative frame with a gold frame and added it to the card front with foam tape. I have then die cut the gorgeous decorative lattice using the dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Emmeline Treillage Dies. I adhered it to the discarded cream panel from the decorative frame and then trimmed the edges before adding this to the inside of the frame.

For the apple blossom branches I die cut the branches from the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Cherry Blossoms Die out of white cardstock and green cardstock. I coloured the white cardstock with brown alcohol markers and then adhered these to the green branches. After I coloured the edges with brown alcohol markers I then adhered them to the card coming down from the top right of the card.

The flowers have been made using the larger flower die from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month – March 2020 Elegant Infinity. I made some open flowers and some buds and used some small stamens from my stash which were perfect here. Apple blossoms tend to be in bunches so I have created some bunches using a combination of open flowers and buds. The leaves have been die cut using the leaf dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Cherry Blossoms Die out of green cardstock and added to the branches. The leaves are also in bunches on apple trees and I have tried to do the same here.

The sentiment is from the Amazing Paper Grace With Love Regalia Dies and I have die cut three dies – one from gold and two from white cardstock. These have been stacked together with the gold die on top and adhered to the bottom right inside the frame.

I could not resist putting a pretty vellum butterfly from the Amazing Paper Grace Butterfly Bliss Garden Shutters Die on this card but a bee from the Amazing Paper Grace Just Bee-cause Hot Foil Plate in gold would have been great too. The pink on the butterfly tied in well with the colour of the flowers.

To finish I added some pearls to the flowers on the frame and the centre of the flowers inside the frame.

Scroll past the photos for a list of the products I have used.

I have a video tutorial on my YouTube channel on how I have created this card here:
