Signs of Spring

Spring is definitely in the air when the cherry blossoms come out and I was thrilled that this this photo come out well.
I am very busy at the moment with moving into our Make Shift shop this weekend, so haven’t had a lot of time to make cards. My next post will be a cardmaking 101 for the new CTMH consultants who haven’t done a lot of card making with Creative Memories. One day when I get more confident and I can sort out camera angles etc I will look at making some how to videos of my cards. But in the meantime I will stick with what I know and use photos.
I hope you all have a great day.
Happy crafting

Golden delight

I have been saddened to hear off all the incidents around the world – Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Florida. My thoughts go out to everyone that is affected by these tragedies. I hope this photo helps send a little cheer to everyone out there in blogosphere.
I was a little concerned as my daughter is travelling over in Europe at the moment as had been in Italy last time I heard from her. I was really pleased she rang me today to reassure me she was ok.
I hope you all have a good day and Happy Snapping.

Reaching for the sun

Just a little photo to cheer people up after the last few days. I was really pleased at how this photo turned out and I did not have to do a lot to improve this photo. The daisy seems to just pop out on the page. Some days I can get great photos and other days I delete a lot, but I am improving.
I hope you all have a great day.

Pretty in Pink

My photo of the day. I was really pleased at how this photo has turned out. There had been quite a bit of rain the night before and there were lots of raindrops on the flowers.  This azalea is such a pretty pink and the raindrops are just like little gemstones shining in the sun.  I seem to gravitate towards pink flowers – perhaps that is because my favourite colour is pink!
I hope this cheers your day.
All the best

Autumn is here and there is not many flowers left in my garden. The snapdragons are starting to look a little bedraggled, but they are still inviting the insects to collect the pollen.  The temperature is cooler and it is starting to be a little easier taking photos of bees as they are not buzzing around as fast. I love the combination of black and yellow of the bee and the creamy yellow at the base of the snapdragon flower. But I could do with working more on the sharpness of the details on the bee.  My photography is still a work in progress and there is much more to learn. Today I was privileged to look through a very expensive macro lens and it was incredible. Definitely something to work towards.
Tomorrow I will post the second half of the double page layouts of James’ album that I posted a couple of days ago.
In the meantime I hope you all have a great day.

My photo of the day.

Today was a good day to get outside and take photos as the day was a little overcast, but not a lot so there was a very soft light which is lot easier to adjust settings for. I used the Aperture setting and set my ISO for 200 and my f stop to 5.6 and zoomed into this flower. Since I have gone into Aperture setting I have found that there is a intelligent digital zoom which gets me much better macro photos. I have also discovered in previous sessions to set the ratio to 1:1 for macro photography which has helped a lot as well.
The hoverfly was very obliging and stayed reasonably still for me and this photograph is as it was shot in camera which makes it even more special. I try not to do too much editing as I am more of a purist photographer, but I have seen some amazing artwork from other photographers on Flickr.
I hope this bright and colourful photograph brings a ray of sunshine to those who are just coming out of a cold winter. For you summer is just around the corner.  We are heading into autumn and winter so I am making the most of my opportunities.
Have a great day.

My photo of the day. I have been exploring my camera and started using the A setting on the camera and discovered the optical digital zoom which gave me a lot more grunt for macro photography. Here I managed to get a brief ray of sunshine to back light the flower and because I was able to zoom in I got a much better bokeh effect without manipulating the environment. I am looking forward to learning more about macro photography at the camera club. But sometimes there is nothing better than getting out and practicing. At least with digital cameras you can view the photos and delete them as necessary before printing them off.
I would also like to add that my Memory Manager 4.0 has been an excellent tool to help me sort all my photos easily and I do all my editing and journalling in it before I upload to Flickr. It is so much easier doing this than doing it online. Plus I can also rate my photos as well so I know which ones to use when I am doing my digital and/or traditional scrapbooking. MM also has a feature where you can put the photos into an album to help you plan for doing an album which is great for oganizing in advance. I have started to also use more touch up tools as well, but that is also a work in progress and another topic for a future post.
Have a great day everyone.
