To create the shadow box cut a piece of patterned paper with the outdoor scene from the paper collection 4 15/16” x 4 15/16” and adhere to the back of the box.

Cut a 6” x 6” panel from the paper collection and using the shadow box as template draw around the inner edge with a pencil and die cut with the square die from the Cut Mat Create 2A die set.

Die cut the decorative die from the HCD1-7212 Petite Pocket Accents Die set out of white cardstock and trim before adhering to the back of the shadow box front.

Assemble the box and adhere the cut frame to the front of the shadow box and the strips to the sides of the box.  Adhere the shadow box to the card front.

Cut four dies from the HCD-7190 Frame a Card Leafy Borders set out of white cardstock.  Sponge with Viridian ink and add Frosting Powder to the dies.  Adhere to the bottom right and top left of the shadow box.

Stamp the carnation images from the HCPC-3806 Small Camelia Carnation Stamp set in Bright Tangelo ink on Deluxe Flower Shaping paper.  Colour with Rose Madder ink and die cut with the coordinating die.  Sponge the Edges with Bright Tangelo ink and then shape using the 3D Basic Flower Shaping Mold and fold the edges with your fingers.

Assemble the flowers 3 of the same size and 1 smaller.  Add three peach coloured bead stamens to the centre of the flowers with a hot glue gun.  Trim the ends and add Crystal Clear Glitter to the flowers with Dries Clear glue on a damp sponge.

Stamp the leaf images from the HCPC-3806 Small Camelia Carnation Stamp set in Library Green ink on Deluxe Flower Shaping Paper.  Colour with Leaf Green ink and die cut with the coordinating die.  Shape using the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit.  Add Crystal Clear glitter to the leaves using Dries Clear glue on a damp sponge.

Adhere the flourish to the bottom right corner and then add the flowers and leaves with the hot glue gun.

Instructions:

To make the bottom of the box cut a piece of Centura Pearl White cardstock 7 ½” x 9 ½”.  Score each side at 2” and then score on the diagonal at the corners of the card.

Fold along the score lines using a bone folder.  Fold the corner flaps in to create the box and adhere the flaps to the sides of the box with Dries Clear Glue.

Cut two strips of the striped patterned paper at 1 1/16th” x 5 6/8th” for the long side and two strips 1 1/16th” x 3 6/8th” for the short sides of the box.  Adhere them to the sides with Dries Clear glue.  Die cut the largest decorative die from the Decorative Scallops die from the Centura Pearl White cardstock and adhere the base of the box to the top of this die.  Adhere pearls around the base of the box to cover the join.

To make the top of the box cut a piece of Centura Pearl White cardstock 7 5/8th” x 5 5/8th”.  Score each side at 1” and then score on the diagonal at the corners of the card.  Fold along the score lines using a bone folder.

Fold the corner flaps in to create the box and adhere the flaps to the sides of the box with Dries Clear glue.

Cut two strips of pink patterned paper 7/8th” x 5 ½” for the long sides of the box top and two strips of patterned paper at 7/8th” x 3 ½” for the short sides.  Adhere to the sides with Dries Clear glue.  Cut four lace edges from the HCD1-7161 Sweetheart Borders Die set in the Centura Pearl White cardstock.  Trim and adhere to the four sides.  Cut two strips of the  carnations and flowers strip from the patterned paper ½” x 5 ½” for the long sides and ½” x 3 ½” for the short sides and adhere over the edge of the lace trim.  Adhere pearls to the sides on the join as shown.  Die cut the largest decorative die from the Decorative Scallop die from the Centura Pearl White cardstock and adhere to the top of the box lid with the good side facing up.

Cut the patterned piece from the paper collection that measures 5 8/16th ” x 3 8/16th” and adhere to the top of the box.  Die cut the next size down decorative die from the Decorative Scallop edge die set in the Centura Pearl White cardstock and adhere on the top of the box with foam tape.  Cut the small coordinating panel from the patterned paper 2 ¼” x 4 ¼” and adhere to the top with Dries Clear glue.  Add pearls around the edge of both scallop borders.

To create the flowers, stamp the images from the Small Carnation stamp set using Stazon Cherry Pink and Black Cherry inks on Art Foam Paper and die cut using the coordinating dies.  I have used the three largest sizes here.  Sponge the edges of the petals with 3D Stamp Paint – I have used Pink with the Cherry Pink and Carmine Red with the Black Cherry stamped petals.  Add Frosting Powder to the petals with Dries Clear Glue using a damp sponge.  Heat and shape using your fingers and the tools from the Deluxe Flower Shaping kit.  Assemble the flowers using two larger and one smaller petal and adhere together with a hot glue gun.  Take some fluffy white stamens from the Bridal Bouquet – Small set and dark pink Rock Candy stamens and fold in half, poke a hole through the centres of the flowers and pull through the stamens using a small piece of scrap wire.  Add glue to the backs and trim the threads.  Adhere the flowers to the top of the box with a hot glue gun.  Add the red rock candy stamens to a single small flower, poke a hole through the centre of the flower and pull through the stamens using a small piece of scrap wire.  Add glue to the back of the flower and trim the ends before adhering to the box as shown.

To make the leaves stamp the leaf images from the Small Carnation stamp set on Art Foam Paper in Forest Green ink.  Sponge the leaves with Lime Pastel ink and die cut using the coordinating dies.  Sponge the edges with Grass Green stamp paint, heat and shape lightly.  Adhere around the flowers as shown with a hot glue gun.

Add Ultrafine Crystal glitter to the flowers and leaves on the patterned paper with Dries Clear glue.

I hope these instructions are easy to follow but if they are not please feel free to contact me for assistance.

I have another card featuring the Camelia Carnation on a separate post here.  As usual don’t forget to visit the Heartfelt Creations blog for more amazing inspiration from the rest of the Design Team.

Welcoming the Camelia Carnation Collection from Heartfelt Creations

Kia Ora and Welcome

Today sees the launch of the gorgeous Camellia Carnation Collection from Heartfelt Creations.  This is such a beautiful collection with so many colours and designs to choose from!

Beautifully ruffled in delicate layers and commonly gifted to express love, fascination, and distinction, the carnation flower is certainly recognizable and a floral garden and arrangement favorite. Thought to be one of the oldest cultivated flowers in the world, the carnation is traditionally associated with the Mother’s Day holiday, but is also known to be a wonderful choice for birthdays, weddings and just because occasions. With an outstanding reputation as a cut flower, and an amazing array of colors and sizes, it is no wonder that the carnation flower remains so popular today! Heartfelt Creations invites you to celebrate the beauty and gentle humbleness of the carnation with the Camelia Carnation Collection! With a color palette of fiery reds, pastel pinks, sunset orange tones, and lush hues of greens, the gorgeous paper collection brings with it a bold but feminine feel. Filled with attractive carnations clusters, exquisite flower gardens, and decorative lace like details, this pretty paper collection is sure to become a perennial favorite. Two cling stamp sets and coordinating dies come together to create enamoring and realistic carnation blossoms with delicately illustrated details and varying sized petals ideal for assembling full sized carnation flowers to charming mini versions, while a third cling stamp set lends itself perfectly to layering and creating dimensional carnation clusters. So join with us as we celebrate and give recognition to the traditional, but somewhat overlooked and under praised carnation flower!

For the launch I have made a card using a shadow box which is so much fun.
