Winning with Papercraft Essentials!!

Kia Ora and Welcome Back

Today I am so excited to finally announce that I have won a cardmaking competition in England!!!

I saw a call on Facebook for people to make a card featuring the Apple Blossom collection of embossing folders (All Occasions Folders) and thought about it and then when the deadline for postage came up I decided to actually enter it.  I made one card but it didn’t look right so I made another card right at the last minute which I was much happier with.  I was up early in the morning to complete it and then posted it that afternoon to England.

I couldn’t believe it when I got an email from the publisher of Papercraft Essentials to say that I had won.  In fact I had to read the email several times before it sunk in!!!  And here is the winning card:

PS the Papercraft Essentials magazine with my card and a feature about me will be available for sale from the 16th November in England.

Pink Sunrise Lilies

Kia Ora and Welcome Back

Today I am featuring something a little different from my usual cards.  I have been inspired by John Lockwood and his amazing creations.  Please visit his website here for the instructions on how to make this hexagonal frame here: http://johnnextdoor.blogspot.co.nz/2014/05/what-difference-year-makes.html?spref=pi

I have made the lilies using the Heartfelt Creations Sunrise Lily stamps and dies on foamiran.  I was happy with how the flowers turned out but foamiran is still a work in progress for me.

For the base of this I have used Sizzix hexagonal dies rather than measuring out the hexagons as John as done.  I embossed the smaller die and then cut the hexagon with the larger die.  I have still cut the tabs etc the same as what John has done but I thought this was a quicker and easier way of doing the base and it worked perfectly for me.  However, it is really important when cutting out the larger die size to measure with your ruler to make sure the edges are even to allow the base to sit evenly.

Have a good week – don’t forget to check in on Wednesday for the exciting release of the new Beary Fun Retreat Collection from Heartfelt Creations!

Rose Pink Elegance

Kia Ora and Welcome Back

I have another card today featuring more foamiran flowers, and a beautiful rose gold foil card from Bazzill.  I thought I would see how I can mix and match the foamiran flowers with paper flowers and leaves and I was happy with the results.

Foamiran

Stamps – Heartfelt Creations Window Box Fillers

Dies – Heartfelt Creations Window Box Fillers, Classic Rose, Elegant Sentiments, Spellbinders 5 x 7 Elegant Labels 4, 5 x 7 Matting Basics, Labels 4

Inks – Brilliance Coral, Memento Canteloupe, Bamboo Leaves, Tuxedo Black

Stamens

Art Glitter Dries Clear glue

Rajni Chawla’s Crystal Clear

Glue Gloss

Heart of Gold Prills

Foam dots

Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of cream cardstock at 10″ x 5″, score and crease along the long side to make a base card of 5″ x 7″.  Add the layers as in the next instructions.
  2. To layer the dies from the outside in: 1. die cut the largest size of the Matting Basics in the pink cardstock.   2. die cut the outer die from the Elegant Labels 4 in the rose gold foil.  3. die cut the second die from the Elegant Labels 4 in the pink cardstock.  4. die cut the largest Label 4 in the rose gold. 5. die cut the next size down Label 4 in pink cardstock.   I have used foam to layer between the bottom gold layer and the next pink layer for interest.
  3. Die cut the Best Wishes from the  Elegant Sentiments from rose gold foil and adhere to the card with Dries Clear glue.
  4. Stamp the leaves and flowers from the Window Box Fillers stamp set in Tuxedo Black.  Colour the leaves with Bamboo Leaves ink and the flowers with Canteoupe ink using the Stack and Store daubers.  Die cut with the coordinating dies.  Shape the flowers and leaves with the Deluxe Flower Shaping kit.  Add Crystal Clear glitter to the flowers using Glue Gloss and add Heart of Gold Prills to the centres of the flowers.  Adhere to the left of the labels as shown.
  5. To make the flowers die cut two large and two medium petals from the Classic Rose set in foamiran.  Sponge the centres with Canteloupe ink and the rest in the Pearlescent Coral.  Shape using a low heat source.  Adhere together with a hot glue gun.  Pierce the centres and add stamens to finish the flowers.  Adhere above the leaves and flowers as shown.

Have a good week and Happy Crafting
