Hello Happy Birthday Peonies

Kia ora Koutou

This year it has been my mission to learn how to colour with alcohol markers. I have been taking lessons with Alyce at Kit and Clowder and I am so enjoying them and I am finding that I they are so much easier to use and the colouring is much quicker – better for my neurodivergent brain lol. Anyway, I have been purchasing different floral stamp sets to practice with and one of the sets I purchased was the Gina K Designs Majestic Peony Cling Stamp set. This is such a beautiful design and great for practice. Here is one of my first attempts at colouring using Copics on Neenah Classic Crest 80 Ib paper and I have used a colour combination from one of the classes that I have taken. (I have since discovered I prefer to use X-Press It card as it is much easier to blend). I have done a similar card design to this a few years ago. I had completed an Altenew class – All About Layering 4 (2) and I used all Altenew products then. You can see the post here.

I must admit that I do struggle with adding sentiments to coloured images as I feel that I have spent sooo much time colouring the images and don’t want to cover them up. Here I feel I have made a compromise by adding the die cut ‘hello’ and adding the stamped sentiment to the bottom right of the card just covering a small portion of the coloured image.

My Project

I have created a top folding 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ base card out of white cardstock. I cut a piece of gold cardstock 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and adhered it to the front of the card base. I then cut a piece of black cardstock 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and embossed it with a diamond embossing folder from my stash. This was then added to the front of the gold card.

I stamped the peony image from the Gina K Designs Majestic Peony Stamp set in Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Classic Crest 80 Ib cardstock. I coloured the image in with Copic markers and then fussy cut the image. I went round the edges of the image with a Memento Tuxedo Black Marker to get rid of all the white edges and then adhered the entire image on the black embossed card.

I die cut four ‘hello’ dies from the Altenew Fancy Hello die set – three from black cardstock and one from gold cardstock. These were then stacked together with the gold die on top and then adhered to the centre of the card over the flowers.

I stamped the sentiment from the Altenew Dotty Blooms stamp set in gold pigment ink on black cardstock and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. I die cut the sentiment out using a banner die from the Altenew Featured Sentiments Die Set and die cut another plain banner from black cardstock. I adhered the stamped banner on the plain banner and added the sentiment to the bottom right of the card as shown with some foam strips.

To finish I added some gold pearls around the die cut ‘hello’.

Dogwood Birthday Wishes

Kia ora Koutou

I am really enjoying branching out into different brands and one of the brands I keep coming back to is Honey Bee Stamps. I love their 3D Embossing Folders and their Lovely Layers including flowers and birds and today I have teamed these up with Amazing Paper Grace Frame dies and Heartfelt Creations Dogwood Flowers.

I really struggle to put sentiments on cards and this card was no exception. I spend a lot of time on flower making and putting a card together and sentiments are often the last thing on my mind and this card sat here for a couple of weeks before I finally sorted out the sentiments. I purchased the Honey Bee Stamps Mini Messages 6″ x 6″ Stamps and coordinating Honey Bee Stamps Mini Messages – Banners Honey Cuts and these were perfect to add to the card without detracting from the overall card.

A Sparkly Rainbow Birthday Card

Kia ora Koutou

I recently won a challenge in a Facebook group for one of my cards and I was thrilled with my prize that I received. In it was this gorgeous stencil with no branding on it but I loved it. I am relatively new to stenciling and ink blending so I had another go at a rainbow design but this time I added some sparkle to the ink blending with some Nuvo glitter paste – Moonstone. I was thrilled with the result and I will definitely do this again. I have kept my card very simple so as not to distract from the pretty sparkly pattern and just added a simple white border from the Amazing Paper Grace Hemstitch Rectangles and a white flower die that I embossed from Spellbinders that I have had for quite a while. A simple hot foiled ‘Hello’ from Pink Fresh Studio and a stamped ‘Happy Birthday’ from Honey Bee Stamps finished off this card. I was inspired for my card from a card on Instagram – however that card featured a plain dramatic ink blended background and white accents. I am in my happy space with pastels and sparkles.

Amazing Paper Grace Romantic Slimline Borders Birthday Card

Kia ora koutou

I love lacy dies and these Amazing Paper Grace Romantic Slimline Borders Dies are just stunning to add some pretty edges and decorative backgrounds to add some flowers and a butterfly. These border dies can be used in so many ways and today I have done a 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ card. I had some flowers left over from a previous project so this card was so quick and easy to put together. You can see the other card card here and on that post there is a link to a video tutorial on how I have made these flowers on YouTube.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

To make my card I have created a top folding 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ base card out of white cardstock. I then cut a piece of white cardstock 4″ x 5 1/4″ and scored at 1/8″ intervals down the long side of the card and then adhered it to the front of the card.

I cut the following pieces of card:

Blue card – 4 1/2″ x 4″

White card – 3″ x 4″

Pink card – 2″ x 4″

I die cut each end of the blue card with the ‘broderie anglais’ edge and stitch edge dies, the white card with the scallop and stitched dies and the pink card with the lacy decorative edge dies. I then layered the pink strip to the white strip to the blue strip and adhered them to the front of the embossed layer on the front of the card.

I cut a strip of white card 7/8″ x 4″ and embossed a line at 1/8″ along each long side to add some interest to this panel. I then stamped the sentiment from the Amazing Paper Grace Lyrical Layers Floral Stamp Set in Jet Black ink to the right side of the strip. This was then added to the centre of the pink lacy edged strip.

The flowers were made using the Amazing Paper Grace Primrose Heart Facade Dies. I have ink blended pink and yellow inks on white cardstock before die cutting the flowers out and assembling them. I have also used the same flowers on another card that you can see here. The small sprays are from the Amazing Paper Grace October 2021 Die of the Month Flourished Fleurit Dies and have been die cut out of yellow and green cardstock. I added some gold pearls to the centres of the open flowers.

To finish the card I added a blue, white and gold butterfly from the Amazing Paper Grace Butterfly Bliss Garden Shutters Dies.

Happy Birthday Golfer Z-Fold Card

Kia ora Koutou

I was asked to make a birthday card for my husband’s colleague for her father-in-law who is a keen golfer and here is the card that I made for her. I have created a z-fold card to set a scene for a golf course with trees, foliage, golfing accessories and a bird that symbolises the scoring at golf. The golfing images have been coloured with copic markers and I have used a range of different Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers dies to make my backdrop. This is such a fun interactive card and I know that the recipient will cherish this.

For the instructions on how I have made this base card please visit my post here and scroll past the photos below to see the list of all the products I have used for this card.

Amazing Paper Grace Stained Glass Birthday Wishes

I have been going through my Amazing Paper Grace Dies and found the gorgeous Amazing Paper Grace Stained Glass Floral Bouquet collection and specifically the Amazing Paper Grace Deco Bloom Etched Dies and decided to have some fun with it. I also had a play using a new technique (for me) – ‘smooshing’ colour onto watercolour paper and added some shine and sparkle to further enhance the stained glass effect. I found this was great for colour coordinating as the colours all harmonised due to using the same colours throughout the card. Another bonus was that I only used two die sets as everything was all included in the Amazing Paper Grace Deco Bloom Etched Dies and all I needed was a sentiment die from the Amazing Paper Grace Celebration Scene Etched Dies.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card I have made a side opening 5″ x 7″ card out of white cardstock. I die two outer frames from the Amazing Paper Grace Deco Bloom Etched Dies – one from white cardstock and one from gold cardstock. I adhered the gold die over the white die and added it to the cardfront. I coloured a piece of watercolour paper using the ‘smoosh’ technique with Squeezed Lemonade and Saltwater Taffy inks. When dry I added some 3D Crystal Lacquer to the surface for a shiny finish. I die cut this out using the inner rectangle die. I then die cut two decorative rectangles out using the Nos. 3,4 and 5 dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Deco Bloom Etched Dies – one from gold cardstock and one from white cardstock. I adhered the white die to the front of the coloured panel. I coloured two pieces of watercolour paper using the ‘smoosh’ technique using Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn inks. When dry I added some 3D Crystal Lacquer over the top. Once dry I die cut the stained glass window out of one of the green panels and then paper pierced the leaves onto the decorative stained glass window die on the coloured background. I then added the gold outline die to the top for the stained glass effect and a white centre for the sentiment. This panel was then added to the front of the card inside the frame using some fun foam.

To make the flowers and leaves I ‘smooshed’ a piece of watercolour paper with Saltwater Taffy and Kitsch Flamingo inks. When dry I added some 3D Crystal Lacquer that had some ultrafine glitter added for a sparkly shine. While that was drying I die cut the bases of the flowers and leaves out of white cardstock and the outline out of gold cardstock. Then I added the gold outline dies to the white bases and die cut the flower centres out using the inner dies from the pink glittery and sparkly paper and the leaves from the other piece of green shiny paper. These were then paper pierced to create the stained glass effect. I added these on the card as shown and used some foam squares for some dimension.

To finish my card I have die cut three happy birthday sentiments from the Amazing Paper Grace Celebration Scene Etched Dies – two from white cardstock and one from gold cardstock. These were stacked together with the gold on top and then added to the centre of the frame.

Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Peony Birthday Wishes

Kia ora Koutou

Welcome back and today I am featuring the stunning Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Peony die. I have been watching a video on YouTube by Dawn Woleslagle at Wplus9 Design on how to colour the layered flowers from Honey Bee Stamps using ink blending to create depth and dimension. So I purchased the Peony die and had a go and I was thrilled with the result. There is so much texture to the flowers and leaves even though they are actually flat. I will definitely be doing more of this colouring.

My Project

I have created a top folding 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ base card out of white cardstock. I then cut a piece of white glitter paper that has been in my stash for too many years 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and coloured the whole piece with Fresh Pear and Grassy Knoll inks and added it to the front of the card. I then die cut two dies from the Honey Bee Stamps Delicate Daisy A2 Cover Plate Top out of white cardstock. I adhered the two dies together and placed them over the sparkly green card front.

I die cut all the pieces of the Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Peony die out of white cardstock and coloured them with Light and Medium Carnation inks for the flower and buds and Light and Medium Spruce for the leaves. I assembled the flowers and buds together using some foam tape for dimension. I added the leaves to the bottom right of the card and then adhered the buds around the leaves. The large peony was added using some foam squares.

I stamped the sentiment from the Beccy’s Place Stamp Set – Blue Wren in Obsidian ink on white cardstock and die cut the banner out using the Heartfelt Creations Arrows and Banners Die set. I then adhered the sentiment to the card front with foam squares.

To finish I added some sweet ladybirds from Susan’s Garden Forget-Me-Knots and Ladybugs that I had in my stash and added them around the flowers and leaves. I then added some clear iridescent gems to the centres of the daisies on the decorative daisy die

Honey Bee Dogwood Birthday Card

Kia ora Koutou

I have a sweet and simple card to share with you today. I am really loving the intricate and detailed layering flower dies that are being released by Honey Bee Stamps and so I took the plunge and purchased the Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers – Dogwood Honey Cuts and had a play. I prefer soft pastel shades and for this card I have used soft pink and green inks to make dogwood flowers that pop on a white framed embossed background with a simple foiled sentiment.

My Project

For my card today I have made a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ tent card and embossed a piece of white cardstock using the stunning Honey Bee Stamps Daisy Field 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the front. I die cut a frame using the largest die from the Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Rectangle dies and added it to the front of the card with foam strips for more dimension.

I die cut two base layers of the Dogwood dies and adhered them together. I then coloured the stems with brown copic markers to create the branches. The flowers and leaves were die cut separately and coloured using Pink Fresh Studio inks – Grassy Knoll, Key Lime and Bubble Gum. These were added to the branches and I then added the branches and flowers to the front of the card as shown.

To finish I added a sentiment from the Spellbinders Be Bold Glimmer Sentiments that had been hot foiled with Matte Gold.

Amazing Paper Grace Floral Garden Birthday

I am getting low on birthday cards and I was inspired to create this birthday day from a card I saw on Instagram. I loved that it was all white with a pop of colour in a circle with sweet birds on an ink blended background. My family are big cat lovers and today I have mixed and matched different flower and leaf dies with the sweet little cat from the Amazing Paper Grace Make a Scene collection by Becca Feeken to create a lovely garden scene of flowers with a cute little cat amongst them. This card is quite easy to make and you could use so many different motifs to personalise the card to your tastes. I am fairly new to ink blending and I had so much fun with it and was really pleased with the result.

I will have a video tutorial on my YouTube channel shortly and will link it here when done.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card today I have created a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ top hinged base card from white cardstock. I have added a frame using the Amazing Paper Grace Rectangle Fluted Classics Dies with foam tape. I then die cut a circle using the circle die from the Amazing Paper Grace Circle Fluted Classics Dies out of masking paper and then added this to some spare white cardstock. I ink blended the circle using light blue, yellow and green inks and then die cut the panel out using the inner die from the frame and inserted inside the frame. I die cut three circle frames using the small circle dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Circle Fluted Classics Dies from white cardstock. I added one frame to the ink blended circle then stacked two circle frames together before adding them to the frame on the card with foam squares.

I then die cut all the flowers from coloured cardstock as well as the leaves and flower stalks and the cat using dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Rolling Along Scene Dies and the Picture Perfect Windows Scene Dies I added the stalks and leaves to the inside of the circle with the leaves flowing over the edge. I added the flowers and popped the little cat among the flowers with a foam square.

I die cut three sentiments from the Amazing Paper Grace Celebrations Scene Dies, stacked them together and adhered them under the circle.

To finish I have made a vellum butterfly from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motifs Dies and added it to the frame of the circle as shown.
