Kia ora Koutou
I have another card inspired by the television programme The Gilded Age to share with you today. I love all the opening credits on this programme and the Amazing Paper Grace Nobel Chatelaine Etched Dies from the Vintage Treasures by Becca Feeken reminded me of the ornate necklace at the start of the credits and then to finish the card I have added some flowers and foliage to represent the ornate decorations at the end of the credits. The colour combination I have used here was used on a lot of the decor at the different mansions that are featured in this programme. I have kept the sentiment low key in order to highlight the stunning dies, flowers and foliage.
Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.
My Project
My base card is 5″ x &” and I have matted white and light blue/green cardstock to create a background using fun foam to add some dimension in the top matted layer.
I die cut a shadow decorative frame from the Amazing Paper Grace Nobel Chatelaine Etched Dies out of white cardstock and then die cut a decorative frame with the centre die cut out from gold cardstock. These were stacked together and added to the front of the card with foam tape and squares. I then added a small scalloped frame to the centre of the gold frame with foam squares for more dimension. I die cut two motifs from the same die set – one from gold cardstock and one from white cardstock. These were stacked together with the gold motif on top and then added into the centre of the frame as shown. I added a small white diamond to the centre and a gold pearl to the centre and sides of the motif and pearls to the centres of the flowers. To further enhance the feel of a necklace I added some iridescent gems from my stash to the decorative frame for lots of bling and sparkle.
I die cut some leaves from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motif Etched Dies out of gold cardstock and added them to the left of the decorative frame. I then die cut three different leaf shapes out of three different green cardstocks using dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Candlewick Rosebud Etched Dies, Sweet Cottage Flowers Etched Dies and the Layered Daisies Etched Dies. I added depth to the leaves with Mowed Lawn ink and then added them over the gold leaves.
The large flower has been made using the Amazing Paper Grace Sweet Cottage Flowers Etched Dies out of white flower shaping paper. I have dyed the paper a very pale pink and then shaped two petals similar to the flowers on the decor in The Gilded Rose television programme. Once dry I added some TCW Stardust Butter – Opalescent to the petals which gave the flower a shimmery porcelain finish. To finish the flower I added some gold edging to the petals with Cosmic Shimmer Luna Paste – Moonlight Gold. I used a styrofoam bud for the centre and added some gold pearls to the bud before adding some pearl stamens around the base of the stamen. The flower was added over the leaves using a foam square.
The small flowers have been made from the Amazing Paper Grace and the Petite Floral Potpourri Etched Dies and the Die of the Month March 2020 – Elegant Infinity Etched Dies. I have coloured the larger flowers with yellow ink and the smaller flowers with a pale blue ink that matches the colour of the background blue/green cardstock. These were shaped and added around the larger flower and I have added gold pearls to the centre of the yellow flowers and oyster pearls to the centre of the blue flowers. To finish the flowers I added some Stardust Stickles to the blue flowers and Stardust Stickles to the yellow flowers.
I stamped the sentiments from the Amazing Paper Grace Seasonal Motif Sentiments Clear Stamp Set and the Becca’s Place Magnolia Stamp Set using Versamark ink on white cardstock and then heat embossed them with gold embossing powder. I die cut them both out using the small tag die from the Amazing Paper Grace Cascading Etched Die set. I added a gold thread before attaching the tags to the card under the large flower. To finish the tags I die cut another motif out of gold cardstock and trimmed it to decorate the top of the tags and then added two small iridescent gems to them.
I die cut another two motifs and trimmed them in half and added these to each corner of the card over the blue/green cardstock to show the ornate decorative elements that were widely used in ‘The Gilded Age’. I added some oyster pearls to the centres of the flowers to tie in with the rest of the card.
