You Are Loved

What’s a Cardlet, pray tell?  A Cardlet is a small motif, complete with background, sentiment and character that combine to make small card or layers onto a larger card.  We’re delighted to introduce you to the Sweet Cardlets Collection.

Becca Feeken sent over these lovely dies and watercolors for me to try.

Sweet Cardlets show up in a Glimmer format with a matching die.   They are metal plates that are used in the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System to transfer foil to paper through a combination of heat and pressure.  The Glimmer machine base is rolled through your die cut machine to deliver that pressure.  As long as you have a machine that can accommodate thick dies – like steel rule dies, you’re all set. A word to the wise, it is very addicting.  (Compatibility charts on the Spellbinders website)

The Inspiration behind Sweet Cardlets

We gotta fess up here.  There’s no such word as cardlets, yep, Becca straight up made it up.  You have to agree though, it sounds really cute, right?  Well that was the inspiration behind sweet cardlets.  As you can imagine it has something to do with cards and moreover, little cards.

Always mindful of the budget, Becca wanted to create a collection where each set is all you need to make a little card.  Sweet Cardlets are small motifs with a 3″ x 3″ footprint.  Each has a background, a main character and several sentiments.

We found it the right size to fit on an A2 card and even to layer onto an A7 card.  In fact, the 3″ background can be repeated for a long background or a larger background.  Dies cut out each main character and three sentiments with each set give you lots of options.

My Project For Today

For my projects today I have used the very beautiful Graceful Swan Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set Sweet Cardlets by Becca Feeken

Here is what the die looks like:

I have created the background by foiling with Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Roll – Matte Silver on pattern paper and repeated this with the swans. The swans are just so gorgeous!!

The flowers are handcrafted using the Shapeabilities Cinch and Go V Etched Dies Vintage Treasures by Becca Feeken

The Picot Petite Squares Etched Dies Picot Petite Collection from Amazing Paper Grace by Becca Feeken coordinate so well with the Amazing Paper Grace Elegant Twist Squares Etched Dies from the Elegant Twist Collection by Becca Feeken and adds an elegant frame for the beautiful hot foiled swans.

The sentiment is also from the Sweet Cardlets collection – Heart Felt Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set Sweet Cardlets by Becca Feeken. They are so sweet and easy to add to your card or project.

Here is the Spellbinders video showing amazing new samples as well as a walkthrough of the entire collection:

Amazing Paper Grace December Die of the Month Blog Hop – Rose Garden Promise

Today I am introducing the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month for December 2020, Rose Garden Promise.

Becca Feeken of Amazing Paper Grace sent me these beautiful dies to create with.

Becca shares her inspiration for this 5×7-inch frame-worthy card front that resembles the look of stained glass.  She says, “ ‘God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December,’ a quote by James M Barrie. It is precisely that quote that inspired me to think of roses at the end of the year. It has much to do with the promise of an approaching spring, buds bursting forward, and the gift of hope.  As one who loves rituals, I finished off 2019 with a die template that featured roses and decided it was worthwhile to pay them homage at the end of 2020.”

Isn’t it only fitting to go forward with hope for the future and for new and worthwhile things that will break through.  From the entire Amazing Paper Grace Creative Team, let this be a beautiful end to your year; we hope that through making, it brings with it the bonus of lovely memories.

We want to inspire you with different combinations using the December Die of the Month,Rose Garden Promise etched dieThese are a few of our ideas!

  1. Stained Glass
  2. Wedding Card
  3. Shaker Card
  4. Anniversary Card
  5. Window Card
  6. Valentine’s Day Card

I bet you can come up with a few, share them in a comment!

There are four (4) dies included in the Rose Garden Promise

My Projects Today using Rose Garden Promise

I have made a card and a frame using the Rose Garden Promise Die. For the card I have die cut the frame from gold cardstock and then for the rose and leaf insets I have coloured the images with pink and green inks before removing them from the die. I have also used the beautiful Amazing Paper Grace Diamonetta Background Glimmer Hot Foil Plate from Delicate Impressions Collection by Becca Feeken as a background to add handcrafted flowers and a hot foiled sentiment from the Amazing Paper Grace Heart Melt Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set from Delicate Impressions Collection by Becca Feeken.

For the frame I have used the wonderful Amazing Paper Grace Adjustable Shadowbox Frame with 1/2″ Border Etched Dies Shadowbox by Becca Feeken to create a frame and then added the trimmed flowers and leaves from the Rose Garden Promise die. For the middle of the frame I have added a background using the Amazing Paper Grace Diamonetta Background Glimmer Hot Foil Plate from Delicate Impressions Collection by Becca Feeken. I have added a gold frame from the Amazing Paper Grace Double Halo Oval Etched Dies 3D Vignette Mini Album Collection by Becca Feeken. The corner dies are from the Amazing Paper Grace Callista Rectangle Shadowbox Frame Etched Dies Shadowbox by Becca Feeken.

Designer Tip:

Colour the images before removing the die from the plates.
