More Rugged Baby Boy

Welcome to all the visitors to my blog.  I hope that you are enjoying the variety of posts from cardmaking and scrapbooking to photography.

I am still working on my son’s scrapbook album and here is a photo layout of him at 2 weeks old.  He was such a tiny wee baby and very photogenic and it is hard to believe that he is now 23 years old and taller than me!

James rugged layout using the Border Maker cartridge - Twinkle chain.Sorry the photo seems a little uneven but I hope that you can see my layout ok.  I love using the border maker twinkle chain cartridge and I think that will be a theme throughout this album.  I also like to keep my layouts fairly simple and as I have said before I try to coordinate colours to bring out the photos as they are the focal point of a layout.  The blue and yellow background highlight the lovely yellow jacket that James is wearing.

Another factor in how I scrapbook is the photos are old and printed way before digital cameras were developed (I really am showing my age here!) and some of my photos are not great quality and I just have to make do.  It makes a huge difference with all the digital camera and post production technology available today and the quality of photography is so much better.  I have tried to print of scanned negatives but the quality is not as good.  But you can’t change the past and I have to do what I can with what I have.

More rugged baby boy

While the weather has turned to rain (much needed to break our drought thank goodness!  We have a total water ban on at the moment.) I have completed another couple of pages for my son’s scrapbook album.  This time I have kept the pages simple and used a white page for the background.  I love the combination of the border maker picket fence and twinkle chain cartridges and was really pleased with the combination of the yellow and the blue.  The blue complemented the clothes we are wearing in the photos and the yellow helped to highlight as well as James was wrapped in a yellow blanket.  I use colour a lot when I am scrapbooking as I find that the right colour behind the photo really highlights the photo.  I also like to keep embellishments to a minimum as well so as not to overpower the photograph and journalling. These photos are rather special as James was my grandmother’s only great grandchild and died when he was about 18 months old.  So it is lovely to have the whole family in the photo.Rugged Baby Boy scrapbook page Rugged Baby Boy Scrapbook pageMaterials used:

Rugged little boy

Hello again

I have now started with doing my son’s 12 x 12 album using the Rugged Power Palette and additions.  I have used the Rugged Baby Boy Additions and am really pleased with how the pages have turned out.  I will be buying another set of additions as I had so many photos of when he was born, as you do when it is the first child.  The colours of the papers have worked in really well with the colours of the photos.

I have also used my Memory Manager 4.0 to crop the photo of me holding James to get a 4 x 6 photo of just James and that turned out to be great and just finished the page off.

Looking back it was hard to believe that he was such a  little baby, now he that he has grown into an adult.  I am really enjoying going back and doing these photos and reminiscing about the good times we had and how special he is to us.  He has had a lot to deal with in his life but he has never let that hold him back.

I will keep posting photos of his album as I complete it.

Happy scrapping
