CTMH Brushed Scrapbook Layout

My favourite colour is pink and I am in love with the Brushed range of papers from Close to My Heart. The Brushed Workshop on the Go layout is stunning and I have just completed that to show at a craft fair that I will be going to next weekend. I also love the layout on page 102 and with the help of Flo Hill-Rennie from Oh So Many Crafts I learnt how to do the layers and hide function on the Cricut to make that layout. This led me on to doing another layout that could be used in conjunction with with this single layout. I wanted to create the effect of flowers going up a trellis and I hope that I have achieved this.

Here are some close ups of the layout:

I have used a combination of two stamp sets for the flowers – the Brushed WOTG and A Budding Friendship. The flowers have been coloured in using the new Shinhan Twin Touch markers. I haven’t blended as well as I could with the markers but I have been feeling unwell and it was the best I could do. The small yellow flowers have been stamped with Canary ink and then the outline stamp with Black ink from the A Budding Friendship stamp set. I love this technique as it is so quick and easy and then all I needed to do was cut the images out. The leaves are a combination of stamping the leaves from the WOTG stamp set onto both Pear and Sweet Leaf cardstock and fussy cutting them out, and using the same technique with the yellow flowers I have used Pear and Sweet Leaf inks with the base stamp and then stamped the outline with Black ink.

I have used gold sequins for the middle of the yellow flowers and then coloured clear sparkles with Cherry Pink Shinhan Twin Touch markers and placed it in the middle to coordinate with the pink flowers. I used Liquid Glass on the ladybird to create the three dimensional look.

The butterflies have been cut using the Artbooking cartridge and then using the rock and roll technique I have stamped the image using Canary and Pixie ink. The sparkles have been coloured with Tender Pink.

The sentiment is vellum from the Complements pack and I have placed that on White Daisy cardstock and fussy cut it out and placed it on the layout using the foam tape.

There is a gorgeous splodge stamp in the WOTG stamp set and I have used a combination of Pear, Canary and Pixie inks to make a lovely background card for the layout.

CTMH SOTM – Family is Forever

Unfortunately, I ran out of time and energy to participate in this month’s blog hop for the Stamp of the Month but better late than never.

Here is a card that I have made using the lovely heart stamp from the set to make a lovely wedding or ruby wedding anniversary card.

To make the card I embossed a piece of White Daisy with the Baroque embossing folder and matted it onto some Ruby cardstock. I adhered the Ruby Chevron washi tape onto a strip of White Daisy cardstock and placed it on the bottom third of the card. I have used the Artiste cartridge to cut out the the hearts from White Daisy and Ruby cardstock. I stamped the heart onto the White Daisy cardstock and adhered it to the Ruby patterned heart with foam tape. I then placed the heart on the lower left side of the card.
The sentiment has come out of the Banner Wishes stamp set and stamped on a strip of White Daisy with Ruby ink and this has then been matted with Ruby cardstock.

More CTMH Fathers Day Cards

Next week is Fathers Day so I have made some more Fathers Day cards for sale at Gift Hutt. Close to My Heart provides a wonderful range of masculine stamps and there is also a good range of papers in each Reflections pack that are suitable for masculine cards. I have used a mix of Timberline and Seaside papers for these cards. And of course Black and White are New Zealand’s colours and worked really well with the fabulous cricket themed stamps that Close to My Heart have created especially for the Australasian market. These stamps will come in handy later for some more scrapbook layouts for my son.

I have used a number of patterns from both the Make it From Your Heart books as well as the Originals Card Confidence books. Also used was the new Chevron border punch. It makes a great trim when backed with a contrasting colour cardstock or paper. Again I have used my Twin Touch markers to colour in the small tools that I have cut out with the Memory Box die.

CTMH Confetti Wishes and Artbooking

Today I had a productive time at Scrapbook Corner at the Upper Hutt Library. I have taken a break from the Chalk It Up school layouts and thought I might give Confetti Wishes a go for James’ birthday photos. Confetti Wishes has such vibrant colours and the papers are just perfect for birthday layouts. I have got my inspiration for both layouts from the Make It From Your Heart Volume 2 book. I have used these books so much that I have had them bound so they could last longer.

James was very lucky and had 3 birthday parties for his 5th birthday. Today I will feature two of the birthdays – one for kindy and the other his birthday party and home.

Here is the first layout using the pattern No 6, page 16 from the Make it From Your Heart book and I have changed the orientation from the what is displayed in the pattern to fit the photos. This is James’ party at home and I have used the Artbooking cartridge to cut the titles and the parcels and the ‘wish’ is actually the offcut from the Make a Wish title from the next layout. I am still to do the journalling and I have finished off with Confetti Wishes Complements and Assortments. I have used my Twin Touch markers to colour the clear sparkles to match the colours in the range. I no longer need to worry about getting many different colours of sparkles to match my projects with the Twin Touch markers.

I cut two parcel shapes out of the striped Confetti paper – one was reversed to get the different papers. I also used Pacifica and Canary scraps to piece the parcels and also embossed them with different embossing folders from CTMH – dots and chevrons.

Here is the second layout and this time I have used pattern No 14 on page 32. I am not sure if I am happy with the blue patterned paper as it makes it a little busy but other than that the photos really worked well with this layout. I put a cake on this paper and to make it stand out I used my grey Twin touch marker to outline the cake and make it stand out more. The Confetti Wishes Complements and Assortments made it easy to complete the layouts and I still am looking at putting in some journalling – perhaps with some flip flaps which are so versatile.

I have done a single page layout but I am still to finish it so it was a very productive day. I am starting to get through James’ photos and eventually they will be done.

CTMH Tea Bag Dispenser Boxes

Welcome back I am sorry that I haven’t got anything with new products this weekend but I have had a flare up and my hands won’t do want I want them to do so I have gone back to my archives to see what I haven’t showcased here. I have found these tea bag dispenser boxes that I did a while ago using Ariana and Ivy Lane papers. I have got the pattern from Splitcoaststampers here for your information. However, I have changed the dimensions of the matted cardstock and paper as I found the instructions a little difficult to keep track off. You can see the difference in the two images where the bottom one I used my trimmer measurements to mat the paper onto the cardstock. For this box I have used the Ivy Lane papers with Pear and Cashmere cardstock and distressed them with Cashmere ink. I love how all these products coordinate so well. The rosette has been created using the Artiste Cartridge and topped with a lovely gem from the Mini-medley rosewood collection. I have used the Frame Flair stamp set and stamped the images with Outdoor Denim ink. I am sorry but I can’t remember where I got the enjoy stamp from. Perhaps someone can enlighten me. I really need to sort out and catalogue my stamp sets for easy reference. I can see another post coming for this – there is simply not enough time in the day to do everything! This box has been created using the Ariana papers and the same cardstock as the first box. The bow has been cut out and finished with some bakers twine and a charm from the Base and Bling Craft Queen charms set. The roseette has been cut using the Artiste cartridge and topped with a paper flower, crochet flower and button – all no longer available. CTMH Blog Boosters New Product Blog Hop

Welcome to the CTMH New Product Blog Hop. This time I will be focusing on the absolutely gorgeous Brushed paper range. I have been looking at this paper pack and been very reluctant to cut into this beautiful paper but I have finally taken the plunge and made a few cards with the papers. I love the wide range of colours in this pack, but it is predominately PINK which is my favourite colour. Plus it has the new Pixie colour and I love love love this colour. It is softer than Cotton Candy and I can see some more baby cards coming. I have been asked to make a couple of cards for women in their twenties and these papers were perfect. I also found the most gorgeous shoes on the Essentials cartridge that came with the Cricut machine. With a bit of bling these black shoes became shoes that any women would love to wear. I have also made some bags and clutches by cutting out the shapes from the Art Philosophy cartridge and trimming them down. I Here is a selection of cards: For this card I have used some Desert Sand cardstock and embossed using the Stripe embossing folder and then distressed it. I love how the yellow flower paper is a lovely background to the pink and black. I have had this idea in my head for a while and finally got it out. I have cut a shape out of Desert Sand using the Art Philosphy cartridge and then using the negative image I have cut out the shape of a bureau. I have trimmed with Cocoa cardstock and distressed with Saddle ink. The sparkles have been coloured using the Bronze Twin Touch marker. The dress and hanger have been cut using the Artiste cartridge and the heels cut using the cartridge already loaded in the Cricut machine. Waste not want not. Here I have used the other half of the purse to create a tag for the lovely sentiment. I have added the flower from the Brushed assortments and the trim is the vellum from the Brushed complements. I love this card and the heels are so fabulous with the little bitty sparkles to add a little bling. The flags and strip on the trim are the vellum shapes from the Brushed complements. I love this pink check pattern and it makes a lovely background to the cards. The purse has been cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge and I have used my black pen to create the stitching line which made the purse stand out a lot more. The flower is from the Brushed assortments and the new Thistle ribbon went very well with this colour scheme. I have used a different colour scheme but I still have pink it it. The flower and leaves have been cut using the Artiste cartridge and I have added the metal flowers from the Brushed assortment range to add some dimension to the picture. The zip strip to this paper makes a lovely trim. This is a very easy card using some pink glitter trim for extra impact. My final card has been inspired by another consultant but I feel very uncomfortable about copying other people’s art and so I have given it my own twist. I have used Juniper cardstock to mat the pink paper and I love the contrast to tone down the pinkness of the card. The flowers have been cut from the Artiste cartridge out of Pixie cardstock and the edges have been sponged with Pixie ink. The centre of the flowers have been stamped with black ink onto Canary cardstock – another new colour which is beautiful. The flowers have been finished with Flamingo dots and in the centre flower I have used a metal flower from the Brushed assortments. The leaves have been stamped using a leaf stamp from the Your Own Kind of Wonderful stamp set using black ink on Juniper and then fussy cut out. The contrast helped make the card too pink and lifted the flowers from the card.

CTMH Artiste Baby mobile

I have been trying to win a new Cricut Explore machine and decided to do something completely different with what I have done before. I had just got my new Whimsy cardstock pack and there was the new Glacier colour in it and it is such a beautiful and soft green/blue colour. I had seen another consultant make a three dimensional balloon with an image cut out of the Artiste cartridge and decided to take the concept further and make a baby mobile. I am sorry but I cannot remember the name of the consultant and can’t credit her.

The small balloons have been cut out at 4″ and the large balloon at 6″. I have cut out 4 of each layer with White Daisy, Glacier and Crystal Blue cardstocks. I then glued the layers together using 4 different colourways. The completed image was then scored down the centre and then glued together to create a three dimensional object. Unfortunately, I was in a rush and didn’t take any photos of work in progress, but you can see the process in this post that I did with Christmas decorations here. The centre balloon has a basket made out of a square created by cutting a strip of Crystal Blue Cardstock at 3/4″ and another strip of Glacier at 1/4″ and glued the lighter colour over the darker colour. I scored at 3/4″ lengths and created a square. (I will try and take some close up photos and post them here later).

The white clouds have been cut at sizes, 2.25, 2.00 and 1.75 inches. I cut two clouds from the Glacier and Crystal Blue cardstocks at 2.5″. I then layered the white clouds onto the coloured cardstock.

To complete the mobile I got a piece of dowel from Spotlight and cut it in half. I then covered the dowel with the silver washi tape which is no longer available and then used hemp tape to tie the rods together and also created a loop to hang it up.

I have thread a needle with cotton and pierced the different shapes and tied them together. I wasn’t too fussed about having them all at the same length as it made it more interesting. Sewing the basket onto the middle balloon was tricky and took some time to get it looking straight.

Welcome to the Close to My Heart Blog Boosters New Product Blog Hop.

I have been working on my son’s photos and I am up to his school photos (he is nearly 25 years old so I am catching up!) and this new Chalk It Up Reflections range is just perfect for these photos.

I have loosely used a pattern from the Make It From the Heart Volume 2 pattern 17 for this layout and added the numbers at the bottom from the Artbooking cartridge. The notes pad has also been cut using the Artbooking cartridge. I love the fact that the Sorbet cardstock has linked the now retired Balloon Ride papers to this paper range.

This is another layout that I have adapted from the Make It From the Heart Volume 1 – pattern 16. I was fairly limited by the photos as these were professional photos taken at school and I have not been able to change them. I have used the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the shapes either side of the large photo and then embossed them using the Dots embossing folder. The Lagoon colour was perfect to match the colours in the photos, and I love the new Flaxen base cardstock. I am not sure what other embellishments I can put on the right hand page and will look at it for a while to see what I can do. But sometimes less is more.

CTMH Embossing fun

This week I have been busy playing with the embossing folders that Close to My Heart started carrying at the beginning of the year. If you look through my archives you will notice that a lot of my cards have embossing on them. Embossing adds the finishing touch to cards and can lift the card from a plain and boring card to something quite different again. I have a number of different folders which are all good, but the CTMH embossing folders are great as they already have a slot at the end to pass cardstock through, opening up all sorts of different possibilities. It makes it much easier to use different folders on different areas on your cardstock, which is what I have done with the following cards.

I am running low on baby cards so have been using up the last of my Lollydoodle stash as these colours are perfect for baby cards and you can pick up a number of different colours with them. For this card I have used the stripe folder at the bottom and the dot folder for the top on a piece of 4 x 5 1/4″ White Daisy cardstock . I used the stripe folder first and you get a lovely embossed edge when only partially embossing the cardstock. I then turned the cardstock around and used the spot folder for the top. I have used my ruler to measure `2 1/4 from the edge for the first lot of embossing and then 1 1/2 ” from the edge for the dot embossing folder. There is 3/4″ gap which I have used the dotted Lollydoodle paper as a trim matted with Cotton Candy cardstock. I have used the images available with the Cricut machine for the title. The pram has been cut using the Artiste cartridge and cutting out wedge to create the shape. The purchased this ribbon a couple of months ago with the special packs and I love the colour of this ribbon even though it takes dye very well. I used Liquid Glass for adhering the ribbon, pleating as I went along. I then cut a thin strip of Cotton Candy cardstock to put over the top and then put the Bitty Sparkles on it. The wheels have been cut with an image from the Cricut machine and topped with

For this card I have used the same technique with the stripe and chevron folders. The pin has been cut using the Artiste cartridge and next time I will do it a little smaller. The rattle has been coloured using the new Touch markers that will be coming out next month. More about them later.

This card is elegant in it’s simplicity. I am not sure what sentiment I want to put on the card and I think sometimes it is nice to have a card without anything, so people can put their own thoughts on it. The butterfly has been cut using the Artiste cartridge and finished off with clear sparkles.

Finally, I love this card. I have kept to a very simple colour scheme using the now retiring Twilight cardstock and the Twilight and white spotted Lollydoodle paper. The chevron embossed white cardstock makes a perfect background to the images cut from the Artiste cartridge. This pattern from the Make it From Your Heart Volume 2 is so wonderful and versatile and is perfect for this design.

CTMH Touch Markers

Hello again I have been eagerly awaiting my order with new products from the new Annual Inspirations book, and after a little glitch and some help from Santa’s sleigh in getting my order through Customs, picked up by the courier company in Auckland and arriving in Wellington in 2 hours, (normally this takes over 24 hours) I have finally started to play with my new toys. My family had to prize me away from the catalogue in order to have tea! There are so many gorgeous products coming and my wish list really does not match my budget. I have bought a couple of new paper packs and I will look at posting my efforts with them at another time. But what I have been waiting so long for is the new ShinHan Touch markers. I have done a lot of research since CTMH announced we would be carrying these markers and I am very pleased to see that the Touch markers are rated as highly as Copic markers, which I have never got around to purchasing. The markers are so easy to use and the tips are fine, yet juicy, for a good control of colouring. I am still playing with different cardstock for these markers but today I would like to show you what the markers can be used on. Here are some acrylic flowers that I have coloured. These need to be allowed to dry before using them. The markers coloured the sparkles really well and I will always have coloured sparkles to match my projects. Here I have used Stazon black ink and stamped butterflies and flowers on the feather vellum from the Free to Be Me paper pack that was a constant campaign a few months ago. I have stamped on the shiny side and when the ink dried I coloured in the back of the image and then fussy cut them out. I love the effect of the colours on the vellum. Here is a card that I have made using the flowers, butterflies and sparkles. I have used two new stamp sets that are going to be available next month – Your Own Kind of Wonderful and Pretty Petals. I have stamped the background flowers using the rock and roll technique with the new Canary ink with Pear ink. The leaves are stamped with Pear and Topiary inks using the same technique. I have used the new Thistle cardstock and matching Thistle ribbon on the Pear cardstock. I love the new colours and can’t wait to do more with them. Here is another card that I have completed using the markers. My understanding is that Memento ink is the best to use with the markers but with this card I have used the CTMH dye inks and the markers have performed well with the ink. Here is a close up of the coloured image. I love the softness of the colouring and the colours matched the papers beautifully.
