“Clean & Simple Christmas Magic: Sparkly Red Poinsettia Card”

Kia ora Koutou

There’s something truly magical about Christmas crafting when clean and simple design meets a touch of festive sparkle. Today I’m sharing a beautifully elegant Christmas card featuring sparkly red poinsettias, crisp white space, and just the right hint of gold with a hot foiled background full of flourishes. It’s classic, timeless, and surprisingly easy to create and mass produce.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creation.

The Inspiration

This hot foil plate set is designed to create envelopes but I wanted to use this to create a fun Christmas card instead. Adding a gold postage edge base creates the feeling of an envelope and as a postage stamp. Adding some gold highlights and some sparkle with red poinsettias and berries brought this card together. And this card was so quick and easy to make when time is starting to run out…

The Design

🌺 Creating the Sparkly Poinsettias

For the focal point, I used red glitter cardstock to die-cut the poinsettias. The sparkle catches the light in the most beautiful way, making the flowers look festive without the mess of loose glitter. Layering the petals adds texture, and a small gold centre brings everything together.

✨ Adding Touches of Gold

Gold pairs effortlessly with both red and white, so it’s the perfect choice for accents. I used a gold-foiled sentiment with a corner flourish, some die cut flourishes and gold holly leaves on a gold postage edge card to lift the card for a luxurious finish.

🌟 Keeping It Clean & Simple

The hot foiled design on the background is key—it gives the design breathing room and sets the them of the card. Keep embellishments minimal, and leave plenty of white space. A simple postage edge shaped card is enough to add interest without shifting the design away from CAS.

💡 Perfect for Mass Production

This is a great card design if you’re creating your Christmas cards in batches. Once the poinsettias are die-cut, and the background is hot foiled assembly is quick and easy. The result is a card that feels thoughtful and elegant, but doesn’t require hours of intricate detail work.

🎁 Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a Christmas card idea that’s clean, modern, and festive with just the right amount of sparkle, this red, white, and gold poinsettia card is a perfect choice. It’s timeless, elegant, and guaranteed to make someone smile when it arrives in their mailbox.

Share the Joy

I’d love to know — do you love this colour combination?

And don’t forget to pin this project for later inspiration — you’ll definitely want to revisit it when the Christmas card-making mood hits! 🎄

‘Tis the Season With Amazing Paper Grace

Kia ora Koutou

Gosh we are almost into August and I can’t believe how fast this year has gone. July is nearly done but I have one more Christmas card to share with you featuring the Amazing Paper Grace Gilded Vines Glimmer Plates from The Gilded Age collection by Becca Feeken. I have been watching The Gilded Age series on TV and it is just fabulous and I love looking at all the beautiful gilded decor, gold jewellery and stunning outfits. So this card has been inspired by all the lavish gilding on the walls and even the ceilings. I have kept my card fairly simple and added some Christmas embellishments from the Amazing Paper Grace Holiday Label Motif dies from the Seasonal Labels Motif dies collection.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

My card base is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ made from white cardstock. I added a lovely texture to the top and bottom by die cutting a single decorative edge from the Amazing Paper Grace Infinity Link Border dies out of white cardstock and cutting it in half. I then foiled the background using the Amazing Paper Grace Gilded Vines Glimmer Plates using Aura foil and trimmed the card down and matted it with gold mirror card before adding it to the base card using some Fun Foam.

For the sentiment I used the sentiment from the Christmas Damask Jubilee Hot Foil Plate Set and foiled it on white cardstock before using the rectangle die from the Amazing Paper Grace All Occasions Stamp and Die set before adding it to the centre of the decorative background.

I die cut two frames using the Amazing Paper Grace Elegant Twist Rectangle die set – one from gold mirror cardstock and on from white cardstock. These were stacked together and added around the sentiment as shown.

I then made a range of Christmas embellishments using the dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Holiday Label Motif dies out using a variety of colours and also some accents in gold mirror cardstock. These embellishments were added to the top left and bottom right of the card as shown. I also added glossy accents to the berries for more dimension and shine.

To finish the card I added some gold pearls to the bottom left, top right and around the sentiment as shown.

Pink Fresh Studio Challenge Thanks For Everything Roses and Butterflies.

Kia ora Koutou

Here is my final submission for the Pink Fresh Studio November 2024 which is about ‘Thank You’ and the ink shades that are the best matches for the colors in the challenge are: Waterfall, Begonia, Mimosa, Citron & Storm.

This card is full of lots shine and sparkle with glitter, glitter card and shiny reverse hot foiled butterflies. For the sparkle I have die cut the background die from the Pink Fresh Studio Stained Glass from Pink Fresh Studio Ivory Glitter cardstock. I then die cut the frame from the Pink Fresh Studio Fancy Rectangle Frame out of gold cardstock.

I stamped and heat embossed the roses from the Pink Fresh Studio Garden Roses Stamp with fine gold embossing powder. The roses were coloured with the challenge inks before the image was die cut with the coordinating die. I added the roses over the gold frame with the bottom left of the flowers under the frame to give the feeling that the flowers were growing through the frame. The frame with the flowers were then added to the front od the card with foam strips and tape.

I added the hot foiled sentiment to the front over the flowers using scrap card for more dimension.

The butterflies were reverse foiled using the foil left over from the previous butterflies that I had foiled and once die cut I added two butterflies around the sentiment with foam squares.

To complete the card I sprinkled some glitter to the flowers and gold dust gems around the flowers and frame.

Honey Bee Stamps Buzzworthy Challenge Bells Will Be Ringing

Kia ora Koutou

Here is my second card for the Honey Bee Stamps Buzzworthy Challenge on Facebook. The challenge for this month is to use stripes and I have made another Christmas card that is so festive with the traditional colours of gold, reds and greens with a diagonal stripe in red sparkles

I have hot foiled the Pink Fresh Studio Diagonal Plaid Press Plate in red glitter foil for the striped background. I have also hot foiled plain cardstock with the same red glitter foil and the Aura foil and die cut the bells, the ribbon and the berries from this coloured card. The bells really sparkle and all the gold is so shiny and the decorative elements harmonise well together. The matted layer of gold behind the striped layer is also hot foiled using the Aura foil and was left after die cutting the gold frame out.

I have used the Honey Bee Stamps Pierced Fancy Flakes A2 Cover Plate on white cardstock and die cut it out with the medium plain edge die from the Pink Fresh Studio Notched Corner dies. For the frame I have hot foiled the Pink Fresh Studio Notched Corner dies with Aura foil and then die cut a frame with the coordinating dies. This was added to the pierced white base with foam tape for dimension.

Once the bells and the bow had been assembled I added them to the top left corner of the frame using foam tape. I then added foliage cut from various green and brown cardstocks plus the red berries using the Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Winter Greenery die set over the top of the bells as shown.

The bird has come from the Honey Bee Stamps: Lovely Layers – Spring Birds and is nestled among the greenery.

The sentiment is from the Pink Fresh Studio Foiled Sentiments 4 Holiday Pack and has been added to the card using foam tape.

To make the red sparkles I used a red Copic marker to colour clear sparkles which were then added to the card around the sentiment and on the bow for extra sparkle.

Pink Fresh Studio September 2024 Challenge Card

Kia ora Koutou

I have a card for you today for the Pink Fresh Studio September Challenge 2024. This month challenge is creating using leaves and wreaths and the colour combination is Raspberry Bliss, Paradise, Mulberry Blush, Mimosa, & Citron.

This challenge was a little difficult for me as I do not have a wide range of Pink Fresh Studio products. So I looked at what I did have where the leaves are separate from the flowers and found a couple of stamps I could use. One of the stamp/stencil/die sets I did have where the leaves were separate was the Magnolias which is an older set but still beautiful and I was able to make a wreath with the images.

To create my card I made a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ top folding card out of white cardstock. I cut a piece of white cardstock 4″ x 5 1/4″ and ink blended the bottom left of the card using Citron and Paradise inks leaving the top right corner with no colour. I then added Raspberry Bliss, Mulberry Blush and Mimosa inks to the Pink Fresh Studio Pink Fresh Studio Plaid Press Plate and embossed a piece of scrap paper with it to take most of the ink off the plate. I then spritzed some water on the plate and dabbed it with a cloth before embossing with the ink blended card twice – once with a vertical stripe and once with a horizontal stripe. I got a lovely soft plaid effect with lots of texture and this was adhered to the card front.

I adhered a circle frame with foam tape to the front of the card using the Pink Fresh Studio Essentials Stitched Scallop Circle Dies as a base to add the flowers and leaves on to create the wreath.

I stamped several images from the Pink Fresh Studio Magnolias Stamp set on white card using Detail Black ink. I coloured the images using the challenge inks – Citron and Paradise for the leaves and Mimosa, Mulberry Blush and Raspberry Bliss to the flowers and Citron, Mulberry Blush and Mimosa to the stems before die cutting with the coordinating die. I added the flowers and leaves over the circle frame starting with the full magnolia bloom on the bottom left and worked my way around the frame. I also added some leaves under the flowers and leaves to create more dimension.

I added some Sparkling Dust to the flowers and leaves using the fine tip on my My Sweet Petunia Precision Glue Press for some subtle shine and sparkle.

The sentiment is from the Pink Fresh Studio Wonderful Sentiments set and was hot foiled with Aura foil. As I was foiling this the die moved slightly which gave me a more solid sentiment and worked well with the card. I die cut three more plain dies and stacked them together with the foiled sentiment on top and this was added to the centre of the frame adding some foam tape to ensure the sentiment was level.

The small butterflies were hot foiled with Aura foil using the Pink Fresh Studio Small Butterflies Hot Foil Plate. The butterflies were coloured using the stencils with Mimosa, Raspberry Bliss, Mulberry Blush and Licorice inks and then die cut with the coordinating die. I added these on the card using some foam squares on the wings for more dimension.

To finish my card I added some Pink Fresh Studio Gems: Clear with gold dust to the centre of the large floral, the butterflies and around the sentiment and the outside of the frame.

Pink Fresh Studio Challenge July 2024 – Thanks For Everything

Kia ora Koutou

Here is my final submission for the Pink Fresh Studio Challenge July 2024 this month. This month the challenge is using Geometric designs on your projects and the coordinating inks are: Cherry Blossom, Mimosa, Marigold, Summer Shower & Eucalyptus.

To fulfill the challenge brief I have used the suggested inks to colour in the beautiful hot foiled Pink Fresh Studio Peony Fantasy flowers with the coordinating stencils before die cutting the flowers. For the geometric element I have hot foiled the background with the Pink Fresh Studio Stained Glass Hot Foil Plate. I coloured the background using the challenge inks and the coordinating stencils and I then used the Stained Glass die to cut out the decorative frame out of gold cardstock. I added the die to the background but this time offsetting the gold frame to create more pattern on the background. As I had to trim the die I added a frame from the Pink Fresh Studio Notched Corner dies and I then added the flowers to the top right and bottom left corners.

To complete the card I added Crystal Stickles to the flowers and leave and a hot foiled sentiment from the Pink Fresh Studio Wonderful Sentiments Hot Foil Plate and Die set with foam tape and some gold pearls around the flowers and sentiment.

Thanks for Everything with Pink Fresh Studio

Kia ora Koutou

I have just purchased some new inks from Pink Fresh Studio and they are just gorgeous. My favourite new colours to use are the Rose Garden set with Cherry Blossom, Peony, Begonia and Mulberry Bush colours in this set. I was very excited with this set and have used the colours in lots of new projects including this card for the Pink Fresh Studio January Challenge. This Challenge is a ‘Year in Review’ where we could pick any month from the last year to create a project. Of course I had to go for the April 2023 Challenge which was ‘Flowers’. I do not have the full range of Pink Fresh Studio inks for the ink colour challenge so I just went for the flowers instead. I just love the Garden Roses stamp, stencil and coordinating die set and the Rose Garden ink set was perfect with this set, which I paired with the new Green Gables ink set for the leaves. I also added some subtle shimmer and sparkle by adding Opalescent Stardust Butter to the entire rose flowers and they came out very soft, dreamy and romantic.

My Project

For my card I have made a top folding 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card out of white cardstock. I die cut two dies out of white cardstock using the Stained Glass die and turned one upside down before putting them on the front of the card.

I have gone for a no-line colouring finish by just using the stencils to colour the images with the pink and green inks. I then added some Opalescent Stardust Butter to all the roses and then die cut them with the coordinating die. The pressure of the die cutting machine helped to smooth out the stenciling nicely. I die cut another plain die and adhered the coloured image to the plain die and then added it to the front of the card using Bearly Art Glue.

I hot foiled the sentiment from the Wonderful Sentiments Hot Foil set and then die cut it with the coordinating die. I also die cut another two plain dies and stacked the three dies together with the foiled sentiment on top. This sentiment was then added to the front of the card as shown.

To finish I added some pink jewels around the flowers and sentiment.

Amazing Paper Grace With Grateful Thanks

Kia ora Koutou

I have just purchased a new hot foil machine so of course I had to try it out and yes I am much happier with this machine. I really love the border hot foil plates from the Amazing Paper Grace Delicate Impressions collection by Becca Feeken. The Amazing Paper Grace Diamonetta Background Hot Foil Plate creates the perfect background to add some gorgeous fussy cut coloured flowers from the Amazing Paper Grace Sweet Blooms Border Hot Foil Plate. Add these to a very pretty decorative floral border and a ‘heartfelt’ sentiment and the card is complete.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card I have cut a piece of cardstock 6 3/4″ x 8″ and scored at 5″ along the long side leave a front flap of 3″. I die cut the decorative floral border from the Amazing Paper Grace Graceful Floral Border Dies out of white cardstock and adhered the side under the front flap. I cut a piece of white cardstock 6 3/4″ x 2 7/8″ and adhered it to the underside of the front flap hiding the end of the decorative border. I then cut a piece of gold cardstock 2″ x 6 3/4″ and adhered it to the right side of the inside back of the card. I cut a piece of gold cardstock 6 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ and adhered it to the front flap. I cut a piece of white foil friendly paper 6 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ and foiled it with with Amazing Paper Grace Diamonetta Background Hot Foil Plate with gold foil. This was then applied over the gold panel on the flap. To finish the panel I die cut decorative edges out of gold cardstock using the Amazing Paper Grace Graceful Floral Lace dies and adhered them to the panel to add a decorative finish to the panel.

I hot foiled the Amazing Paper Grace Sweet Blooms Border Hot Foil Plate onto Hammermill white cardstock with gold foil. I then coloured the flowers and leaves with Copic markers and fussy cut the images out. These were then added over the diamond background within the border as shown.

To finish the card I hot foiled the sentiment from the Amazing Paper Grace Heartfelt Sentiments in gold foil on white cardstock and diecut it with the coordinating die. I also die cut two plain sentiment dies from white cardstock and stacked all three dies together with the foiled sentiment on top. This was then added to the front of the decorated panel on the card.

Heartfelt Creations Climbing Clematis Flowers Two Ways

Kia ora Koutou

Today I am sharing a card made with Heartfelt Creations Climbing Clematis that has been shaped and coloured in two different ways to make a beautiful floral birthday card. I was inspired by a card on Pinterest that used the beautiful Marianne Creatables LR0300 die to create a stunning but simple base for some hand made flowers. This die is one of my favourites as you can emboss it to get some amazing texture and depth to the die cut. Plus I have had numerous requests to do more flower making tutorials and today I have a video on my YouTube channel showing you how I have made these clematis flowers and how to put them on the card.

My project

For my card I have made a top folding 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card out of white cardstock. I then die cut the gorgeous Marianne Creatables LR0300 die out of white cardstock and adhered it to the front of the card using foam tape.

I hot foiled the sentiment from the Spellbinders Everyday Sentiments Glimmer Plate on white cardstock using silver holographic hot foil and die cut it with the coordinating die. I then matted it lightly with silver cardstock and adhered it to the bottom right of the card.

I then die cut the flowers and leaves, coloured them and shaped them and allowed them to dry. Once assembled the flowers and leaves were then added to the top of the card.

To finish the card I added some white pearls to the decorative die.

Pink Fresh Studio Surprise Pop Up Card

Kia ora Koutou

I was inspired to create this pop up card by a reel on Instagram from Pink Fresh Studio with instructions on how to make the card. The finished card looks amazing but it was incredibly easy to make and the instructions were very easy to follow. It took longer to die cut all the washi tape flowers and decorate the card! And I love how I have used the sentiments to create a little story for the recipient! This would make a fabulous birthday, wedding or any very special occasion card for someone very special.
