Pink Fresh Challenge Card No. 2

Kia ora Koutou

This is my second card for the Pink Fresh Studio Monthly Challenge for June 2024. This month the challenge is to create an ombre or gradient element and the ink colours are Waterfall, Slumber, Sparkling Rose, Mimosa, Lemon Whip & Soft Lilac.

This card ended up quite different to what I had planned – I made so many mistakes that I had to cover up but in the end the card turned out ok I guess… I was trying to do a different gatefold card after watching an older video of Jennifer McGuires but I ended up gluing the right side flap down and adding the frame on the inside back of the card to cover up some excess glue but this actually gave a good space to write sentiments in the end.

My Project:

I cut a piece of white cardstock 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 3″ and 7 1/2: to create a gatefold card. I used the Pink Fresh Studio Diagonal Plaid Press Plate by hot foiling with Spellbinders Opal foil to create the resist background for my rainbow ink blending using the challenge inks. I then trimmed this panel to two pieces – 2 7/8″ x 5 3/8″ and 1/18″ x 5 3/8″ and added these panels to the left and right side flaps. I ended up gluing the right flap down to the inside back of the card. I die cut 3 frames from the Pink Fresh Studio Notched Corner Frame dies out of white cardstock and stacked them together. I then die cut a piece of vellum to fit behind the frames an I die cut a plain frame out of white cardstock and added it to the back of the frames to neaten the back before adding it to the left side panel and overhanging on the right side.

For the inside back of the card I die cut a panel out using the medium size dies from the Pink Fresh Studio Notched Corner Frame dies out of white cardstock and adhered it to the inside back.

I stamped the floral image from the Pink Fresh Studio Delighted For You Stamp set in Wow embossing ink and heat embossing with gold embossing powder. I coloured the images using the coordinating stencil set using the challenge inks before die cutting the flowers out. I die cut another plain floral die and added the coloured image on top and added it to the right of the frame using foam squares inside the frame.

I stamped the sentiment from the Pink Fresh Studio Delighted For You Stamp set and gold embossed it before die cutting. I die cut another three plain dies and stacked them all together with the stamped image on top. This was then added to the bottom left of the frame using some foam tape to ensure the sentiment is flat.

I finished the card by adding some Glacier gems around the sentiment and flowers.

Roses and Butterfly Pink Fresh Studio Challenge June 2024

Kia ora Koutou

I have my first entry for this month’s Pink Fresh Studio Monthly Challenge for June 2024. This month the challenge is to create an ombre or gradient element and the ink colours are Waterfall, Slumber, Sparkling Rose, Mimosa, Lemon Whip & Soft Lilac.

For my card I have really embraced the gorgeous rainbow colours on both the flowers and card base by creating rainbow coloured roses and a hot foiled rainbow coloured panel using the new Pink Fresh Studio Diagonal Plaid BetterPress Plate on the background of the card.

My Project

For my card I have made a top folding 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card out of white cardstock. I then cut another piece of white cardstock the same size and used the Pink Fresh Studio Diagonal Plaid BetterPress plate to emboss this card without colour using my Spellbinders Platinum machine. This embossed panel was then added to the front of the card base.

I then hot foiled another piece of white cardstock using Spellbinders Opal foil which acted as a type of resist and then created a rainbow effect by using all the inks in this challenge. I trimmed a piece of this rainbow card to 5 1/2″ x 1 1/2″. I die cut the decorative edge from white cardstock using the Pink Fresh Studio Lacey Edges 1 die set and adhered this behind the rainbow strip. This panel was then added to the left side of the card. I finished this edge by adding a very thin strip of white cardstock along the edge with the lace edge.

I stamped the rose image from the Pink Fresh Studio Garden Roses set using VersaMark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing Powder. I then coloured the roses in a rainbow effect using the stencil and the challenge inks. I die cut this image out and then stacked the die with another 3 plain dies withe the coloured image on top before adding to the front of the card.

I hot foiled the sentiment from the Pink Fresh Studio Wonderful Sentiments Hot Foil Plate in gold foil and die cut it with the coordinating die. I stacked two plain dies with the foiled sentiment on top and added it to the bottom left of the card over the roses.

I hot foiled the butterflies from the Pink Fresh Studio Small Butterflies Hot Foil Plate in Matte Gold foil and coloured them with Mimosa and Sparkling Rose inks before die cutting with the coordinating die. I added a butterfly using foam squares under the wings.

To finish the card I have added Glacier Jewels around the sentiment and flowers.

Amazing Paper Grace Snip it Grid and Calendar Card

Kia ora Koutou

Today I am using the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month – June 2020 Snip it Grid and Calendar Creator dies for my project. This is a fabulous die set that can be used to create special handcrafted calendars, invitations and so much more and I love how it includes an alphabet as well as numbers to personalise your projects. Here I have made a card that is going in my wedding album as a special memento of my wedding day. This would be perfect as a keepsake for a wedding album and the two extra sentiment dies help make it easy to use as an invitation or as a decorative introduction to the album – or even wedding stationery. I have used this for a wedding but it could be easily used for many other occasions as well. Check out how Becca Feeken has used the letters to make a crossword puzzle card here.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my project I have created a side folding base card out of white cardstock. I cut a piece of gold cardstock 5″ x 7″ and added it to the front of the card. I then cut a piece of pearlised ivory embossed paper slightly smaller and added it to the front of the gold card.

I die cut two grids from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month June 2020 Snip It Grid and Calendar Creator Etched Dies – one from gold cardstock and one from cream cardstock. I stacked the two dies together with the gold die on top. I cut a piece of ivory pearl card to fit behind the grid.

I die cut the letters and numbers from the same set twice – one from gold and one from cream cardstock. I stacked the numbers and letters together with the gold die on top and then added them to the grid. The grid was then added to the top of the card as shown.

I cut a piece of gold card 5″ x 1 1/2″, scored at 1/8″ along the long side and then added to the bottom of the card. I cut a piece of ivory pearl card 5″ x 1 1/8″ and added it to the gold strip. I die cut two banners – one from gold cardstock and one from ivory pearl card. I trimmed the gold banner in half and added it behind the ivory banner slightly offsetting the gold at each end. I die cut two sentiments – one from gold and one from cream cardstock. These were stacked with the gold die on top and added to the banner.

I die cut the flowers and leaves using the flower and leaf dies from this set out of soft flower shaping paper. I coloured the flower petals using a soft peach and pink ink and the leaves with green inks. I spritzed the petals and leaves with water and then shaped them. Once dry the flowers were assembled with two petals of each size and the flowers and leaves were added to the front as shown.

To finish I added some Frosted Lace Stickles to the petals and leaves and pearls to the centres of the flowers and empty grid squares and on each end of the banner.

Amazing Paper Grace Rose and Filigree Slip In Card

Kia ora Koutou

I have another very simple and yet very dramatic card to share with you today. I am normally using pastel colours but here I have used a black background to highlight stunning watercoloured roses using the dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month December 1919 Rose and Filigree Duo Slip in Card. I have taken my inspiration for this card from a YouTube video that showed how to watercolour images by using a die to emboss watercolour paper then watercolouring the embossed image and adding the outline die over top. I kept the background and sentiment very simple to highlight the gorgeous roses.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card I have created a top folding 6″ x 5″ base card out of white cardstock. I die cut the black frame using the rectangle frame and the slip in rose filigree die from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month December 1919 Rose and Filigree Duo Slip in Card. I then die cut another rose filigree shadow die out of watercolour cardstock and embossed it using the decorative insert. I watercoloured the image using watercolour paints and then adhered the painted image behind the black outline die.

I then cut a piece of gold cardstock 5 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ and a piece of old green wood pattern paper 4 3/8″ x 5 3/8″ and adhered to the front of the gold card. I then slipped this panel behind the filigree slip. This card front was then added to the front of the base card.

I die cut three ‘best wishes’ dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Make a Scene Bold Greetings – two from black cardstock and one from gold cardstock. I stacked these together with the gold sentiment on top and then added the sentiment to the bottom right.

To finish the card I added some gold pearls around the sentiment.

I love ‘twofor’ cards where I can make two cards out of one lot of die cutting. A little while ago I made a card using the Amazing Paper Grace December 2020 Die of the Month – Rose Garden Promise – you can see it here. I die cut the die set out of gold cardstock and just used the gold inlay pieces on the frame for that card but I still had the frame and the rest of the inlay rose and leaf pieces left over. So it was so easy to create a second card using these pieces and some flowers left over from another project. The result was an elegant congratulations card that was so quick and easy to make and so easy to post as well.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my project I made a top folding 5″ x 7″ card base out of white cardstock and then I added a piece of 5″ x 7″ cream cardstock to the front of the card.

I added the gold frame and the gold leaves and roses inlays from the Amazing Paper Grace December 2020 Die of the Month – Rose Garden Promise to the front of the card.

I die cut three sentiments from the Amazing Paper Grace March 2020 Die of the Month March 2020 Elegant Infinity Etched Dies – two from cream cardstock and one from gold cardstock. These were stacked together with the gold die on top and then added to the centre of the frame as shown.

I die cut the flourish from the Amazing Paper Grace December 2020 Die of the Month – Rose Garden Promise out of gold cardstock and trimmed it in half before adding the flourish to both sides of the sentiment.

The flowers from the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Happily Ever After Die set were die cut out of ivory pearl card and added over the flourish. To finish the card I added a gold pearl to the centres of the flowers.

Amazing Paper Grace Congrats Fanfare Elegant Rectangles

Kia ora Koutou

Welcome back for another Amazing Paper Grace post. Today I have gone back to my favourite style – ivory and gold classic and elegant card featuring the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month July 2020 Fanfare Elegant Rectangles Etched Dies. I so love the lacy and delicate dies that are perfect to add pretty handcrafted flowers made with the flower dies that came in the same set. This would be the perfect wedding card that will make a wonderful keepsake for the wedding album.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card I have made a top folding 5″ x 7″ base card out of white cardstock. I then added some gold cardstock to the front and layered some ivory pearl card over it after scoring two lines on each side 1/8″ apart.

I die cut to outer decorative frames from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month July 2020 Fanfare Elegant Rectangles Etched Dies – one from ivory pearl card and one from gold card. I trimmed the gold frame in half and added it behind the ivory frame and then adhered it to the front of the card.

I die cut 8 medallions from the same die set out of ivory pearl card and trimmed 6 of them in half. These motifs are designed to be trimmed and can be slotted on to edges for a decorative finish. I added four flourishes to each corner of the card and then added a lacy decorative edge to each side of the inner cut out and I then added the 6 lacy edges around the inner cut out and adhered the pretty lace edged inner cut out to the centre of the frame with foam tape.

I die cut an oval frame out of ivory pearl card using the small oval dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Fluted Classics Oval Etched Dies and added the frame to the centre of the inner panel with foam tape and the inner oval to the centre of the frame.

I die cut the leaves out of light green cardstock using the leaf dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go Flowers III Etched Dies and trimmed them to add to the top left and bottom right of the oval frames. I die cut small leaves from the Amazing Paper Grace Spring Label Motif Etched Dies out of gold glitter cardstock and added them around the green leaves.

I die cut the flowers from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month July 2020 Fanfare Elegant Rectangles Etched Dies out of soft flower shaping paper. These were coloured with pink, yellow and blue inks, shaped and assembled with wire pollens. The wires were trimmed and the flowers were added over the tleaves.

I die cut the butterfly from the Amazing Paper Grace Summer Label Motif Etched Dies using the ivory pearl card and yellow pearl card with the body made from gold glitter cardstock. The butterfly was assembled and added to the bottom of the fluted classic frame.

I die cut four sentiments from the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month March 2020 Elegant Infinity Etched Dies – three from ivory pearl card and one from gold cardstock. These were stacked together with the gold die on top and then added to the centre of the oval fluted classic frame.

To complete the card I added pearls to the decorative frame and the corner motifs.
