Better Press Happy Birthday

Kia ora Koutou

I have recently purchased the new Spellbinders BetterPress system as I had seen some gorgeous plates and samples made with the BetterPress. And as I love colouring I thought I would have a go. I am still working out the best way to use it as I am getting a little bit of movement when I am pressing the plates. I think I need my Platinum next to the BetterPress so I can minimise the likelihood of movement. However, I do love the image that comes with the machine and I will look to add more plates over time when my budget and time allows.

My Project

For my card I created a top folding 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ base card out of white cardstock. I impressed two images using the floral plate and sentiment plate that came with the machine on porcelain cardstock. I coloured on image using Zig Clean Colour Real Brush Markers and die cut it out with a small rectangle die from the Spellbinders Matting Basics A Die set. I cut a piece of black cardstock slightly bigger than the die cut image and adhered the coloured image on top of the black cardstock. This was then added to the top of the plain black and white image aligning the lines. This was then added to the front of the card base.

I die cut two large frames from the Amazing Paper Grace Fluted Classics Rectangle Dies, adhered them together and added them to the card front.

I also pressed the sentiments from the Spellbinders – Fancy Sentiment Strips Press Plate & Die Set in black ink on the porcelain cardstock and die cut it out with the coordinating die. I added a mat out of black cardstock to the sentiment and then added this to the front of the card over the flowers with foam squares as shown.

To finish the card I added a little sparkle with some clear irridescent gems around the sentiments.

Sending Love with Altenew Antique Roses

Kia ora Koutou

I have been going through my stash and having some fun with older products. I thought I would have a play with the Altenew Antique Roses layering stamps and I must admit it took some time to get back to using layering stamps after using stencils and colouring medium to colour my images. I also used different colours to what I normally use such as the purples and greys and I was happy with the outcome. I have used a mix of Pink Fresh Studio and Altenew inks to colour the roses and leaves and layered the roses using foam tape for some dimension. I used my new Altenew- Elegance Tufted Elegance 3D  Embossing Folder as a base for the flowers and layered coordinating grey and purple cardstocks that matched the inks that I used in the purple roses and grey leaves.

Amazing Paper Grace Pop Up 3D Vignette Typewriter

Kia ora Koutou

I am really enjoying taking a stroll down memory lane with the Amazing Paper Grace Dies of the Month and I really love the Pop Up 3D Vignettes as they are just ‘amazing’ and so full of detail that they look so real. Today I have the stunning Amazing Paper Grace Pop Up 3D Vignette Typewriter which was the Die of the Month for April 2020. This die takes me back to my school days and learning to type on the old typewriters little knowing how vital touch typing was going to be in the future. For my card I have chosen to create a ‘flat’ card using pretty papers and embellishments and a beautiful background die to showcase this beautiful die set.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

To create my card I have created a top folding 5 3/4″ x 6″ base card out of white cardstock. I then layered gold card and patterned paper from Mintay Peony Garden paper to the front of the card.

I die cut three frames from the Amazing Paper Grace Ornamental Valance dies – two from pearl pink paper and one from gold cardstock. I stacked the two pink dies together and then trimmed the gold die in half before adding it behind the pink dies offsetting slightly for a hint of gold. The frame was added to the front of the card and then I added the inner label in gold on top of the frame.

I die cut the typewriter out of gold and pearl pink cardstock and assembled it according to the instructions. Becca Feeken also has a video here on how she constructed the Amazing Paper Grace Pop Up 3D Vignette Typewriter here. For the sentiment pieces I have used some labels from the Mintay Paper Elements – Peony Garden, 27 pcs as white or cream cardstock was too stark. And I added black cardstock on the back to highlight the sentiments. I layered the sentment pieces on first and then added the typewriter base over them with foam tape for dimension. I embellished the typewriter with ephemera from Mintay Peony Garden die cuts using foam tape for dimension and stability.

To finish the card I added pearls on the keys, and on the typewriter as well as on the Ornamental Valance die and gold pearls to the front of the typewriter.

Pink Fresh Studio Peonies and Butterflies Challenge Card

Kia Ora Koutou

Welcome back and today I have another card for the Pink Fresh Studio March 2024 Challenge.. The challenge for this month was to use frames and the Pink Fresh Studio inks – Mango Sorbet/Fruit Punch, Sunkissed, Sweet Mustard, Eucalyptus, and Ocean Breeze.

For my card today I have used the Pink Fresh Studio Rounded and Braided Rectangle dies to frame luscious peonies coloured with Mango Sorbet/Fruit Punch, Sunkissed, Sweet Mustard, Eucalyptus and Ocean Breeze inks and finished with a gold hot foiled sentiment, butterflies and gold pearls.

For my card I have created a top folding 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card out of heavy weight white cardstock. I die cut the outer and inner braided frames from a piece of white 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card and backed it with some gold glitter card before adding it to the card front. I then die cut a frame using the middle braided dies on white cardstock and backed it with some gold glitter cardstock and added it to the card front with foam tape for dimension.

I hot foiled the Peony Fantasy images in gold foil and coloured them with the challenge inks before die cutting them out. I added the flowers and leaves to the top right and bottom left corners using foam tape on the top flowers for added dimension.

I hot foiled the sentiments using the Pink Fresh Studio Wonderful Sentiments Hot Foil Plate and die cut it with the coordinating die. I also die cut two other plain sentiments and stacked them with the foiled sentiment on top and then added the sentiment to the centre of the frames.

I used the Pink Fresh Studio solid hot foil plate to reverse foil the small butterflies in Matte Gold foil and die cut them with the coordinating die. I added a butterfly to the bottom right and top left of the frame as shown.

To finish I added some gold pearls around the sentiment.

Amazing Paper Grace Snip It Flowers Anniversary Card

Kia ora Koutou

I have been a huge fan of Becca Feeken since she first started Amazing Paper Grace and I have absolutely loved her intricate and decorative designs that can be used in so many ways. The Amazing Paper Grace September 2019 Die of the Month – Snip It Flowers is one of these dies that can be used in so many ways and I know that I will be using this die a LOT! I love the floral motifs that can be snipped to create lots of different designs and here I have created a small square with the die and framed them with the newer Picot Petite Square and Fluted Classic Square dies for an elegant, timeless and classic design. Of course I had to add some flowers, butterflies and pearls to finish the card.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card I have made a 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ top folding card base out of heavy white cardstock. I then added a layer of gold, ivory and blue cardstock. I cut another piece of ivory and blue cardstock and layered them together and added this to the front of the card with fun foam. I die cut two panels of the Snip It Flowers out of ivory cardstock and trimmed one die to 9 flowers. I then trimmed the flowers only of the second die and adhered them to the complete die for a little more dimension. This was then added to the front of the blue square. I die cut the larger floral motif out of blue cardstock and the smaller floral motif out of ivory cardstock and layered them to the centre of the flowers.

I die cut the large square frame from the Picot Petite Square dies out of gold cardstock and then added the large square frame die cut from the large Fluted Classic Square dies out of ivory cardstock. The whole frame was then added to the front of the decorative dies with foam tape.

I stamped the sentiment from the All Occasions Sentiments Stamp in Wow embossing ink on vellum and heat embossed it with fine detail gold embossing powder. I die cut this out using the banner die from the Just a Note Sentiments Tag Clear Stamp and Die Set and adhered this to the centre of the card at each end only and added a pearl to each end to hide the glue.

I die cut the leaf flourish from the My Sweet Friend die set out of light green cardstock, trimmed it and added it around the right side of the sentiment. I die cut small flowers using the dies from the Petite Floral Potpourri die set and coloured them with pink, yellow and blue inks. These were shaped and I added some wire pollen stamens to the centre. I trimmed the wires and added the flowers over the leaves and around the sentiment as shown.

To finish I added two butterflies from the Butterfly Garden Shutter set made from ivory, blue, black and gold cardstocks and white pearls to the centre of the flowers on the background die.

Pink Fresh Studio Challenge Card March 2024

Kia ora Koutou

Welcome back and today I have another card to share with you today that I made for the Pink Fresh Studio March 2024 Challenge. The challenge for this month was to use frames and the Pink Fresh Studio inks – Mango Sorbet/Fruit Punch, Sunkissed, Sweet Mustard, Eucalyptus, and Ocean Breeze.

For my card I have used the Fancy Circles frames for the frame component and I have used all the inks to colour in the Pink Fresh Studio Nothing But the Best image using the coordinating stencils. I am enjoying these challenges because it makes me use different colour combinations to what I normally use like the pink inks.

To make my card I have made a top folding 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card out of white cardstock. I cut a piece of lighter weight white cardstock and die cut it using the Pink Fresh Studio Sparkling Diamonds Cover Plate and this was added to the front of the card. I die cut two large frames using the Pink Fresh Studio Fancy Circles Frames dies out of white cardstock and stacked them together. I adhered the frame to the front of the card slightly lower than centre using foam tape. I then added one of the extra circles to the inside of the frame.

I stamped the image from the Pink Fresh Studio Nothing But the Best Stamp set on Neenah Solar Crest 80 Ib in Tuxedo ink. I coloured the images with the Challenge inks using the coordinating stencils and then die cut the image. I die cut another plain die and added the coloured image to the top and adhered it to the top half of the circle using foam tape for added dimension and strength.

To complete my card I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in Tuxedo ink on white cardstock and die cut it with the coordinating die. I die cut two extra plain sentiments and stacked the three dies together with the stamped sentiment on top. This was glued to the inside the frame at the base of the circle. Then I added some blue jewels around the sentiment and flowers.

Watercolouring Pink Fresh Studio Nothing But the Best Stamp

Kia ora Koutou

I have been working on my colouring techniques with both watercolour and alcohol markers. I am really enjoying the process and see my self getting better with each practice session. I used to do watercolour painting many years ago and even had an exhibition but life got in the way and it got pushed to the back burner. However, with all the beautiful floral stamps that are available now I have got back into watercolouring.

For my image I have done a no-line watercolouring of the Pink Fresh Studio Nothing But the Best Stamp on Spellbinders Better Press Watercolour Paper. I am not that happy with the watercolours as they are not very transparent – the greens were very grainy in particular – and it was not as easy to do all the shading. I have started another image using Windsor and Newton Artist Quality Watercolour paints and it is so much better. I will look at getting some hot pressed watercolour paper from the local art supply shop shortly.

I have made a frame for the image using two large Postage Edge dies from Amazing Paper Grace. I have scored at 1/2″ along the top edge to create the hinge which was glued to the top of the front die. I added a stitched edge rectangle to the front and then I then die cut the image using the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches Rectangles Dies and adhered it to the front of the frame with some fun foam for dimension.

Sending a Hug with Amazing Paper Grace Rose Garden

Kia Ora Koutou

I have been enjoying going back through the Amazing Paper Grace Dies of the Month and creating with them and it is interesting to see how much I have progressed both with cardmaking and also with taking photographs since these dies came out. Here is my original post when this die set came out. Today I have made a card using the Amazing Paper Grace December 2020 Die of the Month – Rose Garden Promise. I have coloured the roses and leaves with Copic Makers and added some Wink of Stella to the coloured images to create a sparkly stained glass window effect. Of course I had to add some flowers but these could easily be omitted to be able to send easily in the mail.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

For my card I have made a 5″ x 7″ top folding card out of heavy weight white cardstock. I cut a piece of white alcohol marker friendly cardstock 5″ x 7″. I die cut the outline die out of scrap white cardstock and used this as a stencil to colour the roses and leaves with Copic markers. I then added some clear Wink of Stella to the coloured images. I die cut two outline dies out of white cardstock and stacked them together before adding them over the coloured images. I then die cut another die out of gold cardstock and paper pierced the frame to highlight the coloured images.

I die cut three sentiments from the Amazing Paper Grace Picture Perfect Window Scene Dies – two from white cardstock and one from gold cardstock. I stacked these together with the gold die on top, cut the sentiment in half and added it to the centre of the frame.

I die cut a flourish out of gold cardstock and adhered it to the top left of the frame. I made some small pink and yellow flowers using the Amazing Paper Grace Petite Floral Potpourri Dies and added them over the flourish. I die cut small leaves out of green cardstock using the small leaf dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Cherry Blossom dies and added them around the flowers.

To finish the card I added some gold pearls around the sentiment.

Amazing Paper Grace Carnations

Kia ora Koutou

I have been in a flower making mood lately and had another look at the Amazing Paper Grace Sweet Cottage Flowers dies to see what I can make with these dies. I had been seen a few paper carnations lately and thought I would give these dies a go at making paper carnations and they came out beautiful!! Because these were larger flowers I made a larger card base to place them on and I used the stunning Amazing Paper Grace Victorian Splendor Slimline dies which were a die of the month from June 2021 to create a beautiful lacy base for the flowers. This larger card that would be great for any special milestone or occasion and as a keepsake in a frame.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creations.

My Project

To make my card I have created a side folding 7″ x 5 3/4″ card base out of white cardstock. I then cut a piece of Snowdrift cardstock 7″ x 5 3/4″ and adhered it to the front of the card. I cut three decorative strips from the Amazing Paper Grace Victorian Splendor Dies out of Snowdrift cardstock and three shadow dies out of Glacier cardstock. The decorative strips were adhered to the blue shadows. I cut a piece of Glacier cardstock 6 3/4″ x 5 5/16″ and adhered the decorative strips to the blue card and then adhered the decorative panel to the front of the card.

I die cut the large postage edge oval from the Amazing Paper Grace Postage Edge Oval Dies Dies out of Snowdrift cardstock and adhered it to the front of the card. I then die cut the stitched edge plain large oval out of Glacier cardstock and adhered it to the front of the white postage edge oval. I die cut two large label dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Victorian Splendor Dies out of Snowdrift and embossed one before adding it to the centre of the oval. I die cut two small label dies out of Snowdrift cardstock and stacked them together. I stamped the image from the Amazing Paper Grace All Occasions Sentiments Stamp and Die set in Obsidian ink on Snowdrift cardstock. I die cut and embossed the sentiment using the small label die and then adhered it to the stacked small labels. I die cut a small shadow die out of Glacier cardstock and adhered it behind the stacked labels and then adhered the completed label to the front of the larger label. I die cut two edges from the larger slimline decorative die from the Victorian Splendor Dies and trimmed them to make four corners. Two corners were added above the label and two were added below the label.

I die cut, coloured and shaped the flowers into carnations using the Amazing Paper Grace Sweet Cottage Flowers. I used two petals of each size to make the large carnations. These were coloured with Ballet Slipper inks and edged with Sparkling Rose ink. I spritzed the petals and then using a small ball stylus I made lines in each petal to break the fibres and then I then pleated each petal and allowed them to dry. These were assembled using the large dies at the base and working to the small dies at the top. For the small buds I have used one small and one medium petal and then added a sepal from the Amazing Paper Grace Cinch and Go III Flowers set die cut out of pastel green cardstock. I made the stems using the stem dies from the Amazing Paper Grace Layered Tulip Dies and added the leaves to the stems from the Sweet Cottage Flowers Dies.

I added the leaves from the Sweet Cottage Flower dies around the left side of the oval and then adhered the flowers over the leaves. I added some flowers that I had left over from another project made using the Amazing Paper Grace Petite Floral Potpourri Dies as fillers and then added small leaves from the Victorian Splendor Dies which were die cut out of Rainforest cardstock around the flowers and larger leaves. To finish my bouquet of flowers I added a white bow made from seam binding ribbon.

To finish I added white pearls to highlight the decorative labels and corners.
