There’s something so effortlessly beautiful about a blue and white colour palette. It’s fresh, classic, and perfect for celebrating birthdays in a soft and sophisticated way. Today I’m sharing a birthday card featuring delicate layers, a shimmering hot foiled sentiment, and the prettiest finishing touches with ribbon and pearls.

Dies were provided by Amazing Paper Grace for today’s creation.

Design Inspiration

For this card, I wanted to keep the look clean and refined while still adding plenty of texture and detail. The combination of crisp white with soft blue tones creates a serene backdrop, allowing the hot foiled sentiment to really shine as the focal point.

The shimmer from the foiling adds just the right amount of luxe without overpowering the design — sometimes less really is more!

How I Made the Card

Step-by-Step

I began by layering white die-cut elements over a layered blue and whitebackground. Keeping the base simple allows the decorative details to stand out.
I then added coordinating blue ribbon over the dies to tie the ribbon with the design
I then layered some blue and white ovals to card front adding some decorative white accents to coordinate with the base decorative dies. I have used some foam tape on these layers for extra depth and dimension.
The hot foiled sentiment was placed centrally to anchor the design. Foiling always adds that extra special touch — it catches the light beautifully and instantly elevates a handmade card.
To soften the overall look, I added a delicate ribbon tied neatly across the card front. The pearls were placed strategically around on the bow and on also on the decorative dies to accentuate them.

Pro Tip

For the pearl embellishments on the satin bow I have die cut two floral dies of different sizes in gold and white cardstock, glued them together and added pearls for a one of a kind embellishment.

Finishing Touches

Dimension is key in designs like this. Using foam adhesive under selected layers helps create depth without making the card feel bulky. The pearls add elegance and subtle shine, while the ribbon brings in texture and softness.

This design would work beautifully for a variety of recipients — it’s classic enough for anyone who loves timeless style.
