About Me

Kia Ora Koutou
Hello my name is Patricia Manhire and I live in the Hutt Valley with my husband with my children close by.  I have done many crafts over the years including sewing, knitting, cross stitch, watercolour painting, leather work, macrame and so many more.  But my love is for paper crafting and I have been paper crafting for over 25 years now after seeing a demonstration of heat embossing at Spotlight.  I started with my craft supplies in a small shoe box and now I have my own craft room and work on designing full time!
I love creating beautiful and elegant card bases to add flowers that have been handcrafted out of paper.  I am also a colourist and enjoy using watercolour pens and alcohol markers to colour images for cards.  I have been on three international design teams including one year on the Dress My Craft Design Team, over 5 years on the Heartfelt Creations Design Team and three years on the Amazing Paper Grace Creative Team.  It has been a pleasure and honour working with these prestigious companies and I have learnt so much from working with amazing artists around the world.
I have been published in several cardmaking magazines and have won a couple of international competitions with my artwork.

  1. Hi Patricia,
Thanks for following my blog. Yours is absolutely beautiful and I love the pictures you take! May I ask which camera you are using? We share the same interest: crafting and I find your efforts truly inspiring in spite of your illness. I hope you’ll get well soon and I look forward to reading more about what you do. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for the kind comments. The camera I use is a Fujifilm S-X1. It is a bridge camera but still takes great photos and has almost as much flexibility as a DSLR.
I will look forward to reading about all your crafty endeavours as well. You have a good day.

  2. Hi Patricia,

So happy to have found your blog. Your photographs and ideas are fabulous! I too was a CM consultant over 10 yrs ago. Still have a lot of stuff which I absolutely love.
Recently, I started tackling boxes of photos and have decided to start scrapbooking again – nothing crazy, just to finish up some albums for my boys.
Overwhelmed, I found your blog and have been inspired to begin again. Thanks! ~maria

    1. Hi Robin
Yes Close to My Heart is amazing. I am just loving all the products and they are adding more all the time. We are still getting established in New Zealand and are in the process of building up our consultants base. You are most welcome to visit my website and order any products and get them delivered to your door. Or, if you like you could become the first consultant in Tauranga. It only costs $124 + delivery to join up and you will get $370 worth of products. More than enough to get you started and you can join up through my website as well. Plus there is amazing support from the company as well as the other new CTMH consultants. Either way the products are amazing and so easy to use and I could go on and on…. I am just playing with my Cricut and my crafting has gone to another level! My website is patriciamanhirescreatingwith.shopctmh.co.nz
      Have a great day Robin

  4. Thank you for finding your way to liking my post. I like what you do and your photos. Making cards is an art. I tried but did not work out too well. Great work

Hi Patricia, I am a close to my Heart consultant in the USA, is it ok to use one of your designs to show what can be done? I was looking at the la vie en Rose one in particular. Thank you. Laurie
